Christel Khalil Is Soap Hub's Y&R Performer of the Month for July 2025

Yahoo2 days ago
Christel Khalil gave a tour de force performance throughout July as The Young and the Restless took Lily Winters far from Genoa City and into an emotional firestorm in the South of France. When Cane's dark secrets unraveled in the most dramatic way possible, Khalil held nothing back—channeling Lily's devastation, fury, and confusion with aching precision.
Whether facing Cane's (Billy Flynn) web of deception, grieving Damian (Jermaine Rivers) in real time, or wrestling with the shock of a deadly betrayal, Khalil kept viewers locked in and breathless. Her layered portrayal reminded us why Lily remains a cornerstone of the Y&R canvas.
Khalil Navigates Lily's Emotional Descent
What started as a romantic escape quickly unraveled when Cane's revenge plot exploded into chaos and tragedy. Khalil's portrayal of Lily's slow-burning realization—that she'd been manipulated again—was heartbreaking. She conveyed the disorientation of betrayal without ever falling into melodrama, showing Lily's strength even as her heart cracked wide open.
When she confronted Cane about the deaths he helped set in motion, Khalil's steely delivery made it clear Lily was done making excuses. The way she shut him down—eyes brimming with grief but voice unwavering—was one of her most commanding moments to date.

Telling Nate the Truth
Perhaps Khalil's most poignant scene came when Lily called Nate (Sean Dominic) to tell him Damian was dead. Her voice trembled as she struggled to find the words, revealing Lily's guilt and heartbreak without overplaying it. She didn't just deliver lines—she carried the weight of the moment, allowing space for both pain and dignity.
The way she framed Damian's murder and confessed to falling for him just before his death added another layer of complexity to her performance. Khalil showed us Lily's vulnerability and resilience, back-to-back, in one unforgettable phone call.

A Plane Heist Goes Outrageously Awry in This Brisk Spy Thriller

SHEEPDOGS, by Elliot Ackerman At the outset of Elliot Ackerman's lively thriller 'Sheepdogs,' a mysterious benefactor offers the two protagonists a million dollars to 'repossess' (that is, steal) a private jet from an airfield in Uganda and fly it to France. It's a strange proposal, scant on detail. But the men, both military veterans, accept at once. After all, 'war is a racket,' as the Marine general Smedley D. Butler wrote (in a line adopted for the novel's epigraph), and they aren't going to miss this rare chance to cash in. Before taking the job, the protagonists — one American, the other Afghan — had found themselves stranded on the margins of civilian life. Sqwerl, a former Marine and C.I.A. paramilitary, disclosed classified information to the press in the wake of a disastrous raid in Now Zad, Afghanistan. (His name is a phonetic rendition of 'squirrel' — 'because Marines can't spell.') In retaliation, the C.I.A. fired and sued Sqwerl, winning the right to garnish his earnings for years to come. Cheese, Sqwerl's partner and a onetime ace for the Afghan Air Force, fled Kabul immediately before the Taliban secured the capital in 2021. He and his pregnant wife now live as refugees in a tiny apartment on the outskirts of Austin, Texas, surviving on Cheese's meager wages as a gas station clerk. Predictably, the scheme to steal the plane goes awry. A determined assassin, it turns out, has Sqwerl in his sights. More threatening still is Uncle Tony, a shadowy C.I.A. operative who hasn't forgiven Sqwerl for talking out of turn. Want all of The Times? Subscribe.

Katie Price apologised to daughter Princess over her heartbreak

Moving scenes on ITV's The Princess Diaries set to air on August 10 Princess Andre has revealed her mum, Katie Price, said sorry to her over the messy fallout from the Kieran Hayler divorce. The 18-year-old famous offspring invited the cameras into her life with the fly-on-the-wall documentary, The Princess Diaries, where she has the opportunity to share a more vulnerable side. Wearing her heart on her sleeve in the first episode, which is due to air on August 10, she spoke about the moment her mum apologised to her. Price was married to Hayler from 2013, and they separated in 2018 when it emerged he had cheated on the former glamour model. In the years they were together, they raised their two children — Jett and Bunny — as well as Price's older children — Princess, Junior and Harvey. Looking back on those five years, Princess said they had grown "close" to Hayler. "We loved him," she told the cameras. Price and Hayler's break-up played out very publicly in the newspaper headlines. The Princess Diaries reminded viewers of one of those hard-hitting headlines: Katie Price hit breaking point and attempted suicide after Kieran Hayler split. Speaking from the heart, Princess said her mother went through a "dark time". "I wouldn't say I'm fully recovered from it," she said. However, the influencer said her mum has "fixed" herself after the breakdown of her third marriage and apologised to her for the impact it had on her. Now Princess is older, she has become best friends with her mum and they do a lot together. "Mum is such a different person," she explained. "She's genuinely really fixed herself. She spoke to me about this. I realised that I should never, she apologised, I never wanted an apology from her. It was a lot that she acknowledged it: 'you are my kids and I love you and I need to prioritise you'. We are so close now. We do a lot together. I love her. She's my best friend." The Princess Diaries' main star explained Price hadn't dealt with the break up well because she was "heartbroken". "She went through a dark time," she said. "It was hard me for adult-y thing you shouldn't have to go through [as a child]. Everything that happened the press picked up on, they would write stories constantly. I would go into school asking me questions about it cos they'd seen it in the papers. I would get into bed and cry." Princess kept how she was truly feeling from her dad Peter Andre because of her parents' ongoing feud. She said: "I would never go speak to my dad about it. I'd grown up knowing my mum and dad don't like each other." Due to this feud, Price has been banned from filming The Princess Diaries. Princess had to move out of her house (albeit temporarily) so she could live full-time at her dad Andre's home for filming. Although Price was banned from the show, Princess found a way to get her involved by asking her mum to film a voice note for her. The Princess Diaries airs on ITV2 and ITVX on Sunday.

Katie Price involved in daughter Princess' ITV show despite filming ban

Princess didn't want her mum to miss out completely on filming for her reality series, The Princess Diaries Katie Price's daughter Princess has found a fun way to include her mum in her ITV series, The Princess Diaries, after she was banned from making an appearance. The Princess Diaries shines a spotlight on the famous offspring as she wants to make a name for herself in the spotlight in her own right. Her famous mum Price was banned from appearing on the fly-on-the-wall documentary, meaning her daughter had to move out of her house (albeit temporarily). But Princess, 18, didn't want her mum to completely miss out. The influencer had a fun way to get her mum in her series, regardless of the ban. She decided to ask both her parents, Price and Peter Andre, who was the naughtiest child via voice note. Recording her message, she said: "Hey mum, me and Junior are having a discussion. We wanna know." Junior replied: "Who was the naughtiest kid growing up? Out of me and Princess. If you respond… It's going to be filmed." Princess gave her mum some advice. She said: "Keep it PG! Love you." The teenager admitted her mum's household was "chaotic... in a good way... in a funny way" growing up. Junior said there were "lots of rules" at their dad's house. Katie Price has her say on The Princess Diaries Price wasn't going to miss out on the opportunity on playing a part in her daughter's reality series so she doesn't wait long to reply. "So who was the naughtiest child?" She said cheekily in a filmed voice note response. "Well, you was a mummy's girl. So you used to push me more and probably get away with things." The former glamour model decided it was indeed Princess who was the naughtiest because she could be just like herself. "So yeah, i'd probably say you were more naughty actually," she said. "You were still very much like me. But you were different. You're more sensible. The answer to your question, you was more naughty." Then playfully she shouted down the phone recording: "YOU NAUGHTY GIRL." After the heartwarming message, Princess decided she wanted to give her mum a call in real-time. Price answered the phone in Dubai but Princess hung up in a panic. Her mum appeared topless on camera — although you see nothing in the reality series. "Love you, bye!" Princess told her. "She had her boobs out!" She explained. "She's there casually out of the shower topless, she doesn't care. I was like 'Oh my god. I could never answer the phone'. She'll be like, 'You're with people?' When I answer the phone, she's so unpredictable. She lives life. She doesn't care." Princess shared she admired her mum's carefree attitude in life. "I really, really look up to that," she said. "I would love to have that mindset: I don't care." However, she admitted: "Deep down, I do care. I'll go to my bed and cry and cry. On my own, I don't handle it well. To other people I handle it well." Why is Katie Price banned from The Princess Diaries? Price was banned from filming with her daughter in the documentary series. It meant she was unable to attend her daughter's 18th birthday party because it took place in front of the cameras. Andre's management, CAN Associates, is behind the documentary; the same company that represented Price when the famous exes were in a relationship. CAN worked on the ITV reality series Katie and Peter that made the exes millions at the time. After the break up, Price has been locked in a feud with Andre and his management. Sometimes their fights have played out very publicly in the headlines. ITV has no comment on Price being banned from the series. Price spoke about being banned from the series in episode "A First Class B****" on The Katie Price Show podcast with her younger sister Sophie. At the same time, she appeared to take aim at Andre and his management. She said: "Of course, Mummy wasn't invited [to the 18th birthday for Princess] because it was for filming... The fact there is stuff my daughter is doing but I'm not allowed to be seen in any of it because it's for filming, then certain people who are filming her used to be in charge of my filming. "That's all I'm saying on it. That's fine. Conflict of interest. People will cotton on to it. So yeah, we've got to do something for Princess' 18th. I did say, did she want a blow-up club in the garden? But she's like nah." The Princess Diaries airs on ITV2 and ITVX on Sunday.
