Who is Michelle Ackerley's husband, Ben Ryan?
Michelle Ackerley's husband, Ben Ryan, is an English sports coach best known for leading the Fiji sevens rugby team to their historic gold medal win at the 2016 Rio Olympics, which was Fiji's first ever Olympic medal.
He was in charge of the team from 2013 to 2016, during which time they claimed their first Dubai 7s title and set a new benchmark with nine tournament wins under his leadership.
Before coaching Fiji, Ben had a spell in charge of the England Sevens team.
The 53-year-old is now the Performance Director at Premier League football club Brentford.
Born on September 11, 1971, he graduated from Loughborough University with a BSc in Sports Science, before going on to earn an MPhil in Education from Cambridge University.
While at Cambridge, Ben then played scrum-half for the Varsity Match-winning teams in 1995 and 1996, earning two Blues, and also captained the Light Blues' Sevens side.
He ended up playing club rugby with Nottingham and West Hartlepool.
However, he began coaching the England Sevens team in 2007, leading them through 67 international tournaments and 378 games, making him the longest-serving coach in the role.
Under his leadership, England reached the semi-finals or better 28 times in the HSBC World Series and made the final of the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens, their first in 20 years.
He also coached at the 2009 World Cup, 2010 Commonwealth Games, and won the 2011 Junior Commonwealth Games.

Ben led England to multiple successes before stepping down in August 2013, when he was replaced by Simon Amor.
In September 2013, he became coach of the Fiji Sevens team and quickly made history, leading them to their first-ever Dubai 7s win in just his second tournament.
Despite financial struggles within the Fijian Rugby Union, Ryan went unpaid for several months.
Under his leadership, Fiji won nine World Sevens Series titles across three seasons, claiming the overall 2014–15 title.
In 2016, he guided Fiji to Olympic gold in Rio, the nation's first Olympic medal.
Ryan stepped down later that year and was honoured with the Fijian name, Ratu Peni Rayani Latianara, and gifted land in Serua as a mark of gratitude.

He received the country's highest honour when he was made a Companion of the Order of Fiji.
He was also featured on the back of a circulating 50 cent coin and on the front of a special $7 commemorative banknote.
A year later, the Englishman joined the Welsh Rugby Union as a consultant, after being named coach of the year by the Rugby Union Writers' Club.
Ben lives in South West London with his wife and is a proud Brentford supporter.
How long has Michelle Ackerley been married to Ben Ryan?
In May 2024, Michelle tied the knot with her fiancé Ben, after being engaged since April 2022.

Then, on May 6, 2025, Michelle announced on BBC's Morning Live that she's four months pregnant.
Speaking on the show, Michelle said: "I still can't quite believe it myself really."
Appearing alongside her co-host Gethin Jones, Michelle talked about her husband's calming presence.
She said: "He has been so chilled.
"The thing is, I'm not really sleeping well at the moment so I've been waking up in the middle of the night at 3am and I've been taking it upon myself to wake Ben up and say this is what we are going to have to get used to!"
Michelle went on to discuss her pregnancy in a lengthy Instagram post in which she also addressed her fertility woes.
The TV presenter said: "I can't believe it's nearly been a year since getting married and I honestly didn't think 12months on that I'd be writing a post sharing that I'm pregnant….
"I wanted to share though as my journey with endometriosis and infertility is something I finally felt confident to start speaking about more openly last year - realising how many other women were going through similar experiences.
"Even at the very start of this year I was gearing up for yet another endo procedure and trying to come to terms with the mental & physical impact they can have.
"It has been quite the emotional rollercoaster.
"The news of falling pregnant really came as a massive surprise to both of us. We still can't quite believe it.
"And so in October, the start of a new chapter begins for @benryan7s and I, albeit with nervous and cautious excitement."

Thomas Tuchel feels Club World Cup absence gives Liverpool and Arsenal advantage
The England head coach is trying to stay relaxed about any potential impact FIFA's new competition, which starts on Saturday, will have on his players, and his stated ambition to put a second star on the England shirt by winning next summer's World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. However, the German is convinced the tournament will be pivotal for who wins the English league title next year, and will put the more rested Reds and Gunners in pole position. 'I think (the Club World Cup) will have a huge impact and it will give Liverpool and Arsenal a huge advantage in the next season to not be there,' Tuchel said. 'I think it will be a very nice experience for the players who are there to play this tournament for the first time, so I have mixed feelings about it. 'I decided not to worry too much, because why should I? It is a given, and no-one knows what will be the outcome of it or the effect. 'We will deal with the effect when the effect comes and let's see.' Nine of Tuchel's group for last Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Andorra and Tuesday night's friendly against Senegal are heading to the Club World Cup, but he insisted: 'There is not one player who says 'by the way, I would like to be on the bench and save myself for the Club World Cup'. They are hungry to play. 'The games are not the problem, it is just the amount of time that it occupies from the players, and they need a proper rest somewhere in this calendar which they hardly get.' One of those nine is Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, who is set to captain England again at the City Ground in Nottingham. Twenty-four members of the squad trained at St George's Park on Monday, with Jude Bellingham absent due to his attendance at a family funeral. He was due to return to the camp later in the day.

Sir Andy Murray not ruling out return to coaching despite Novak Djokovic split
Murray was speaking at Queen's Club in London, whose centre court was officially inaugurated as the Andy Murray Arena on Monday ahead of the venue's new WTA 500 event, the first time the west London site has hosted women's tennis in 52 years. Murray, who retired from playing after the 2024 Olympics, linked up with Djokovic in November and despite the pair terminating their relationship in May, the 38-year-old says he may accept a similar role in the future. Murray told BBC Sport: 'I would do it again at some stage. I don't think that will happen immediately. 'I wasn't planning on going into coaching as soon as I finished playing but it was a pretty unique opportunity. It was a chance to learn from one of the best athletes of all time. 'It was a brilliant opportunity for me. We got to spend some really nice moments away from the court. Results weren't as we wanted but we gave it a go.' He's here and he's perfect 🤗@andy_murray unveils the Andy Murray Arena at The Queen's Club #HSBCChampionships — HSBC Championships (@QueensTennis) June 9, 2025 Murray, a three-time grand slam winner and five-time winner of the men's title at Queen's, joked his tennis was now 'diabolical' before rallying with a 10-year-old doubles partner on the court. 'My tennis is diabolical, apologies for what you are about to witness,' he said before pairing up with Gloria, 10, for the ceremonial two-round rally against Laura Robson, who won an Olympic silver medal alongside Murray in 2012, and Jay, 7. 'I've obviously missed being out here,' he added. 'It's the first time, obviously, not being involved in a grass court season for a while, but I've got a new life now and I'm enjoying being away from the sport a little bit.' The Scotsman also revealed he has a special connection to this event – he was coached as a 12 and 13-year-old by Russian Olga Morozova, the last women's singles winner here in 1973. 'I think it's brilliant,' said Murray, when asked about the return of women's tennis to Queen's. 'This court has had many great matches on it. I think it's a great chance for women to showcase themselves out there.' The former world number one first competed in the main draw at Queen's as an 18-year-old and for the last time last season before retiring in Paris. He also claimed the doubles trophy in 2019 alongside Feliciano Lopez. Some things just look right…😍☀️ Honouring our greatest ever champion, Sir @andy_murray #HSBCChampionships | @QueensTennis — LTA (@the_LTA) June 8, 2025 Murray added: 'This tournament has so many special moments for me. It's the place where I won my first match on the ATP Tour, it's my most successful event. 'Coming back here at the start of the British summer and I'm very proud of the results I have here. 'I'm very grateful and thankful for whoever it was who decided to name the stadium this way. I hope there's lots of great matches and you all enjoy the tennis.'
