ITV confirms Love Island 2025 start date - and it's later than usual
Love Island is set to return to ITV2 later this year, with the upcoming series marking the 10th anniversary of the hit dating show.
ITV has just revealed when the much-anticipated new series of Love Island will be gracing our screens, and eager fans will need to hold on a tad longer than usual for the beloved reality show's comeback. This year, which marks the 10th anniversary of the series, will see a fresh batch of singletons enter the Majorcan villa under the watchful eye of host Maya Jama, all in pursuit of love.
Deviation from tradition, the show is set to launch not on its customary first Monday of June but rather on Monday, June 9 – precisely one week later than the previous series.
The announcement came via ITV's social media platforms, with a post that read: "Mark your calendar, you're invited to this year's hottest meeting... Agenda: Initial coupling, strategic navigation of red flags, and identification of potential long-term partnerships."
Just earlier this week, Love Island unveiled its inaugural trailer for the forthcoming series, where Maya Jama hinted at "huge twists" awaiting in the programme's twelfth iteration, reports the Mirror.
Maya Jama declared in the teaser: "To the hottie this may concern," adding, "As per the last 11 Series we're staying loyal to the entertainment and levelling up the twists. The stakeholders are aligned, the Islanders will be laying it on Factor 50, and we're on track to hit our KPI on drama."
She concluded: "It's time to crack on and deliver serious results. Let's circle back soon. Warmest wishes x."
In a setting adorned with neon lights and inflatable flamingos, Maya addressed her Love Island HQ team, saying: "Right, this year, Love Island needs something bigger. Something bolder. I want ideas.
"This year I want more drama, more bombshells, more break-ups, more make-ups. I want more twists. I want more twists than ever."
Earlier in the year, fans welcomed the spin-off Love Island: All Stars, and just a few months after the grand finale of the 2025 series, Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Curtis Pritchard revealed their separation. Ekin-Su took to Instagram to announce their decision to "go [their] separate ways", acknowledging it as a "tough decision".
"He's an incredible person and I'll always cherish the memories we made both in and out of the villa. Thank you all so much for the love and support over the past few months," she continued.
"We're both focusing on navigating this transition and would really appreciate privacy during this time. Love always, Ekin-Su xX."
Maya Jama took over presenting Love Island from Laura Whitmore in 2023. Whitmore had presented the programme for three series.
Beforehand it was presented by the late Caroline Flack between 2015 and 2019. Love Island became ITV2's most watched show in the network's history in 2018.
As of 2020 it was the most watched TV show among 16 to 34 year olds.

Gorgeous moment Danny Dyer saw daughter Dani in wedding dress for first time
Danny Dyer's daughter, Dani Dyer, said she'd had the 'best day of her life' when she married footballer, Jarrod Bowen, on Saturday, at a lavish bash in Buckinghamshire Dani Dyer has shared the adorable moment her proud dad, Danny, saw her in her wedding dress for the first time when she got married to Jarrod Bowen on Saturday. The Love Island star, 28, said she'd had the 'best day of her life' at the lavish nuptials in Buckinghamshire at which EastEnders star Danny, 47, played a very important role. In a gorgeous montage of snaps of the big day shared on Instagram, Danny can be seen waiting in anticipation for his firstborn to reveal her stunning wedding dress as she prepared to become Mrs Bowen. As Dani turns round, sporting a beautiful off-the-shoulder white silk gown, with her hair tied into an elegant bun, Danny's eyes fill with tears as he gives his daughter a huge hug. Danny walked Dani, who has now changed her name to Dani Dyer-Bowen, down the aisle at the wedding at the five-star Langley Hotel while the Love Island star's two-year-old twin daughters, Summer and Star, were flower girls. The Football Factory star also gave a speech during the reception, which was reportedly 'toned down' before the big day by Dani's mum, Jo. After the newlyweds said 'I do', Danny couldn't resist injecting a bit of football banter into the proceedings. In videos shared on social media, he can be heard encouraging guests to sing 'Bowen's On Fire - and he's married Dani Dyer ' to the tune of pop star Gala's hit Freed from Desire, as guests could be seen waving white napkins in the air. Speaking about how important it was for Danny to give Dani a wedding she'd 'never forget', a source told the Mirror: "Family is everything to Dani and Danny is the same way. He pulled out all of the stops to make sure it's a wedding no one would forget for his little girl – the best day of her life. "He adores her and actually says he's got her to thank for some things because Dani winning Love Island boosted his career too. Dani feels she has found her soulmate in Jarrod and it's a relief after she's had so many ups and downs. "Everyone else loves him too. Jarrod and Danny get on so well, which was important to Dani, so it was always going to be a wonderful celebration for the family.' Hammers fan Danny is also a huge fan of his son-in-law, who plays for his beloved West Ham football team. Speaking about his daughter's relationships, Danny told the Mirror: "I have gone from the lying scum, and I hate them, to a man who I would not mind tonguing myself! "A strong man. If he lent in I would put my lips on this geezer. He is just, as a father and joking aside, he took her on with a 14 month old son and that says a lot about a man I will tell you." He added: 'He is amazing. I can't wait to give her away. What a touch. But if he was to make a move on me before… I think I'm in love with him, slightly.'
