Colorado HC Deion Sanders Provides Health Update: 'Back and Feeling Great!'

Sanders, who was reportedly sidelined with an unknown illness last month, has kept many details of his health under wraps. In previous years, Sanders has dealt with blood clot issues, including having two of his left toes amputated.
Earlier this week, Sanders was seen at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' training camp. Safety Shilo Sanders, one of Sanders' sons who played for him at Colorado, signed with the Bucs this summer as an undrafted free agent.
Colorado opens camp on Monday.
Sanders is entering his third season as Colorado's head coach. Following a 4-8 campaign in 2023, the Buffs went 9-4 (7-2 in conference play) in 2024 in what was their first season back in the Big 12 (CU was in the Pac-12 from 2011-23).
The Buffaloes lost two-way superstar and 2024 Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders, another son of the head coach, among other players, to the 2025 NFL Draft.
Kaidon Salter, who transferred to Colorado after four seasons at Liberty, is expected to be the Buffaloes' 2025 starting quarterback. Granted, they also have four-star freshman signal-caller Julian Lewis.
Sanders and the Buffaloes open the 2025 season at home against Georgia Tech on Aug. 29. The following week, Colorado hosts Delaware on Sept. 6 (3:30 p.m. ET on FOX and the FOX Sports app).

ESPN names Ohio State as a college basketball team that could 'make a jump' this season
We are all getting ready for the start of the college football season now just a little over a month away, but the college basketball season won't be too far behind. In fact, we're now within 100 days of the Ohio State basketball season, and ESPN took a big look at previewing hoops for 2025-2026 by looking at many different angles and storylines. One of the things Myron Metcalf and Jeff Borzello touched on was ten teams that "could make a jump" this coming season. And, if you are an Ohio State fan, then you have to like what the ESPN duo things of the Buckeyes this season because they were named as one of those ten teams. OSU was able to retain some key pieces of its core group, but outside of that, there's been a major overhaul of the guys suiting up in the scarlet and gray this season. The mix of old and new will have to come together for the Buckeyes to get back to the NCAA Tournament, but there's good reason to believe that it could happen. Here's what Borzello says about Ohio State this winter: "The Buckeyes showed flashes of their potential last season but couldn't quite string together a consistent run of form. With a terrific trio back in Bruce Thornton, Devin Royal and John Mobley Jr. -- plus the additions of Christoph Tilly and Brandon Noel up front -- Jake Diebler's team should find itself in the NCAA tournament." It sure seems like Ohio State hasn't had a shortage of talent over the last few years, but getting the team to come together and play as a team has been an issue that seems to be a problem in today's day and age of the transfer portal and name, image and likeness. Here's to hoping ESPN is right and that the Buckeyes make it back to meaningful games late and on into the postseason this basketball season. Broncos linebacker will miss 'extended period' after suffering foot injury
Denver Broncos inside linebacker Drew Sanders has been hit by the injury bug once again. Sanders, who was carted off the practice field on Saturday, is set to miss an "extended period" of time after suffering a tendon injury in his foot, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport first reported Sunday. He is not expected to return before the Broncos kick off the regular season against the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 7. In a follow-up report, the Denver Post's Parker Gabriel noted that the Broncos and Sanders will decide on potential surgery in the coming days. Whether or not Sanders undergoes surgery will play a role in his exact recovery time. Denver coach Sean Payton said he was waiting for the results of an MRI when asked about Sanders following Saturday's practice. Rapoport later broke the news of the tendon injury following the MRI results on Sunday. Sanders (6-5, 233 pounds) was picked by the Broncos in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft after a breakout season at Arkansas. He dressed for all 17 games as a rookie, including four fill-in starts, and recorded 24 tackles. Sanders then injured his Achilles tendon during the 2024 offseason, an injury that sidelined him for most of last season. Sanders returned late last fall and dressed for four games, totaling eight tackles and one sack on 18 snaps. He has shown flashes of potential when healthy, but his latest injury is yet another setback after a discouraging 2024 campaign. This story will be updated.

"Broncos LB Drew Sanders, an up-and-coming defender, suffered a tendon injury in his foot in practice that will keep him out an extended period of time, sources say post-MRI," Rapoport wrote on X. "Sanders is not expected back before the season begins and further testing will determine what's next." Not only will he miss time during training camp and the preseason, he isn't expected to begin the season on the field. That is a tough break for the Broncos. During the 2024 NFL season with Denver, Sanders only played in four games. He totaled eight tackles and a sack. Back in his rookie season with the Broncos, he racked up 24 tackles and a fumble recovery. Sanders is just 23 years old. He was the No. 67 overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft by Denver. While his future is still bright, his absence is disappointing for the team. Dre Greenlaw, one of the team's big free agency additions, suffered a torn quadriceps injury that will likely sideline him for a portion of the 2025 season. It will be interesting to see if the Broncos make any late-offseason moves to bring in more talent at the linebacker position.
