Broncos linebacker will miss 'extended period' after suffering foot injury
Sanders, who was carted off the practice field on Saturday, is set to miss an "extended period" of time after suffering a tendon injury in his foot, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport first reported Sunday. He is not expected to return before the Broncos kick off the regular season against the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 7.
In a follow-up report, the Denver Post's Parker Gabriel noted that the Broncos and Sanders will decide on potential surgery in the coming days. Whether or not Sanders undergoes surgery will play a role in his exact recovery time.
Denver coach Sean Payton said he was waiting for the results of an MRI when asked about Sanders following Saturday's practice. Rapoport later broke the news of the tendon injury following the MRI results on Sunday.
Sanders (6-5, 233 pounds) was picked by the Broncos in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft after a breakout season at Arkansas. He dressed for all 17 games as a rookie, including four fill-in starts, and recorded 24 tackles. Sanders then injured his Achilles tendon during the 2024 offseason, an injury that sidelined him for most of last season.
Sanders returned late last fall and dressed for four games, totaling eight tackles and one sack on 18 snaps. He has shown flashes of potential when healthy, but his latest injury is yet another setback after a discouraging 2024 campaign.

Jordan Love was surprised and excited by all the help the Packers drafted for him
The Packers spent their first-round draft pick on wide receiver Matthew Golden, their second-round pick on offensive tackle Anthony Belton and their third-round pick on wide receiver Savion Williams. That's a major investment in putting good players around quarterback Jordan Love, and Love appreciates it. Love said on NFL Network that he wasn't even sure how long it had been since the Packers drafted a first-round wide receiver (it last happened in 2002), but he knew it had been a long time, and he knew it was a major sign that the Packers are putting resources into their passing game. 'I was definitely surprised, going into that first round, having the draft here in Green Bay, and hearing for the first time since 2000-and-whatever getting a receiver,' Love said. 'So I was excited getting Matthew Golden, then Savion, those are two guys that I think are going to add some dynamic weapons to our passing game. We've got a lot of weapons.' Asked what his goal is for this season, Love was blunt: 'We're trying to win the Super Bowl.'

Pro Football Hall of Famer visited Commanders' training camp Sunday
Von Miller surprised everyone when he chose to wear the No. 24 jersey this season for the Washington Commanders. Miller wore No. 58 for the first 10 seasons of his career with the Denver Broncos, switched to No. 40 when he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams during the 2021 season. When he signed with the Buffalo Bills in 2022, he again picked No. 40. So, why No. 24? Miller gave three reasons: NBA legend Kobe Bryant, a former high school teammate; Corey Borner, who was paralyzed; and former Denver teammate, Champ Bailey. Bailey, of course, wore the No. 24 jersey for five seasons with the Washington Redskins before being traded to the Denver Broncos in 2004, where he spent the next 10 seasons, including playing alongside Miller for the first two years of Miller's career. Bailey is a first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer. On Sunday, Bailey was in Ashburn to see Miller and his former team. The two shared a photo, which Miller posted on Instagram. It's good to see Bailey back in Washington. Since former owner Dan Snyder sold the team in 2023, Bailey has been back each season for at least one game. He has spoken of rooting for the Commanders again and being thankful he was drafted by Washington back in 1999. On Sunday, Bailey saw his former protege and checked in on his old team.

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin shares the 'challenge' in coaching QB Aaron Rodgers
There may be no stronger bond in the Steelers organization right now than that of Mike Tomlin and Aaron Rodgers — but that doesn't mean coaching the 20-year veteran is a walk in the park. At Steelers training camp, NFL Network's Kyle Brandt sat down with Tomlin for a quick one-on-one interview, discussing a variety of topics with the longtime head coach — but one question stood out above the rest: what is the challenge in coaching Rodgers? "'Cause he's seen it and done it all," Tomlin said. "Everything's a re-run. And it's my job to make sure that he's engaged, that he's having fun, that the things that attracted him to the game 20 years ago still resonate with him — that he feels it, in this environment, today." Rodgers admitted earlier this year that he was heavily considering retirement — but recently told Brandt that his connection with Tomlin and the personal talks they shared played a huge role in his decision to join Pittsburgh. If Rodgers leads the offense to the promised land in 2025 — ending the almost nine-year playoff win drought in the process — Tomlin will undoubtedly deserve more credit for bringing the four-time MVP to the Steel City.
