12-year-old girl reported missing from home in Setiu
BANDAR PERMAISURI: A 12-year-old girl with health issues has been reported missing after failing to return home for a day in Perumahan Kos Rendah Sungai Tong.
Setiu OCPD Supt Mohd Zain Mat Dris said Adriana Batrisya Mohd Ridzuan, who suffers from stomach problems, left the house on Saturday (Aug 9) afternoon.
When her family could not locate her, her father lodged a report at the Sungai Tong police station on Sunday (Aug 10) afternoon.
"Preliminary investigations reveal Adriana had dropped out of school in Year Four due to her health condition. Since then, she has been staying at home with her mother, father, and eight-year-old brother.
"She had no close friends, but is believed to have befriended a young man through TikTok," he said in a statement.
Authorities appealed to anyone with information to contact the Setiu police headquarters at 09-6098222 or the nearest police station. - Bernama

Man Charged With 52 Sexual Offences Against Daughter In Melaka
MELAKA, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- An electrical goods technician was charged in the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court here today with 52 counts of committing incest, physical sexual assault and recording pornographic videos of his biological daughter since May. According to the charges, the 41-year-old man is accused of committing the offences at a house in Taman Tambak Paya Harmoni, Melaka Tengah, against his 18-year-old daughter between May 12 and Aug 6. When the charges were read before Judge Haderiah Siri, the accused pleaded not guilty to all counts. Of the total charges, 17 were framed under Section 376B of the Penal Code for committing incest, which carries imprisonment of not less than 10 years and up to 30 years, and whipping, if convicted. For the other 34 charges, the accused was charged under Sections 14(b) and 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act (SOACA) 2017, read together with Section 16(1) of the same Act. The offences under those sections carry a penalty of imprisonment of up to 20 years and whipping, while Section 16(1) of SOACA 2017 provides for imprisonment not exceeding five years and a minimum of two strokes of the cane. One charge was also brought under Section 7 of SOACA 2017 for producing child pornography by recording two images of his daughter naked in a bathroom at the same location on July 9. If convicted, the accused faces imprisonment of up to 20 years and not less than five strokes of the cane. The prosecution, led by Muhamad Ehsan Nasarudin, proposed bail of RM20,000 for each charge with additional conditions including prohibition on contacting the victim and witnesses, reporting to the nearest police station every two weeks and surrendering his passport to the court.

Education Ministry to work with stakeholders to clarify guidelines on handling bullying
KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry will conduct engagement sessions with all stakeholders to explain the current guidelines for handling bullying offences, says Minister Fadhlina Sidek ( pic ). She said the move was in response to one of the four demands in the #JusticeForZara memorandum submitted to the ministry by a group of student activists here on Tuesday (Aug 12). "The ministry is also open to views and suggestions to improve the existing guidelines," she said in a Facebook post. On the demand for a comprehensive reform of the national education system, particularly in relation to bullying issues, Fadhlina said the ministry had announced several important measures to enhance safety in all educational institutions under its purview. "This includes conducting safety audits, improving the bullying complaint system, setting up a safety reform committee, taking stern action such as suspending and expelling students involved in bullying, and ensuring psychosocial support aspects are strengthened at every level," she said. On the demand to make mandatory and periodic training for all teachers, administrators and wardens on crisis intervention, student emotional management and professional procedures in handling bullying complaints, Fadhlina said training aspects would continue to be enhanced to ensure the readiness of school administrators, teachers and wardens. She also said that all educational institutions under the ministry's purview must comply with the guidelines for tackling bullying offences. Regarding the demand for the Education Ministry to provide an open explanation to the public about the case of the late Zara Qairina Mahathir, she said the ministry would fully cooperate with the police investigation, and updates on the case would be communicated periodically by the police. Man dies after being stabbed in front of his family home in Seremban
SEREMBAN: A man who had been engaged for just two weeks was fatally stabbed in front of his family home in Taman Sri Pagi. In the incident at 6.50pm, Muhammad Amirul Rasyid Mohd Niza, 28, was stabbed in the chest by a 31-year-old man. Tragically, the single father had planned to shop for his wedding gifts on the night of the incident. The victim's younger brother, Muhammad Amirul Hakim, 27, told Sinar Harian that he was chatting with the deceased outside their house when a car stopped nearby. "I thought it was my brother's friend. But a man got out of the car, approached us, and without saying anything, stabbed my brother in the chest. "I immediately screamed and held onto the suspect to prevent him from escaping while cradling my blood-soaked brother," he said. He added that the suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended by residents who tied him up with a rope," he said, adding that the victim was still alive at that point. "There was so much blood, and my mother fainted upon seeing my brother's condition. At the time of the incident, 10 of my other siblings were at home. What happened was a huge shock to our family because it occurred so suddenly," he said. The deceased had just returned home after taking his only child out for a walk. Since separating from his wife a few years ago, the deceased's child had been cared for by the family. "The deceased worked at a restaurant and stayed at a worker's hostel in Taman Lavender Height, Senawang. He had been engaged for two weeks and planned to marry this year. "Last night, he was supposed to buy his wedding gifts," he said. Muhammad Amirul Hakim stated that he and his family did not know the suspect and were unsure of the motive behind the incident. "To my knowledge, the deceased had no enemies. I was very close to him, and usually, wherever he went, we would go together," he said. The body of the deceased arrived at Surau Taman Sri Pagi for prayers at 2.48pm before being buried at the Islamic Cemetery in Senawang, Forest Height. Previously, Seremban District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din stated that initial investigations revealed the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between the suspect and the victim. "The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim in the chest with a knife, causing the victim to die at the scene. A medical officer from Hospital Tuanku Jaafar who arrived at the location confirmed the victim's death at 7.28pm," he said. He added that the suspect was apprehended with the help of the public, and the knife used was seized. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, and the suspect is remanded until August 18. "The exact motive behind the incident is still under investigation, and the public with relevant information is urged to come forward to assist in the investigation," he said.
