Tailor charged with outraging modesty of disabled teen
Muhammad Arif Zulfakar Abdul Razak, 25, entered his plea before judge Nurulizwan Ahmad Zubir after the charge was read out to him.
He is accused of committing the offence against the victim,17, at 6.30pm in a toilet at a building in Taman Keramat early last month.
The charge, framed under Section 354 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum penalty of 10 years' imprisonment, a fine, whipping, or any two punishments, upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Norhidayah Abdullah Sani proposed bail at RM6,000 and requested an additional condition prohibiting the accused from approaching the victim or any prosecution witnesses.
In mitigation, lawyer Lingswaran Singh appealed for a lower bail amount, citing that the accused is the sole breadwinner for his family.
The court set bail at RM4,000 and allowed the prosecution's request for the additional condition.
The case was fixed for mention on July 21.

SEREMBAN: A man who had been engaged for just two weeks was fatally stabbed in front of his family home in Taman Sri Pagi. In the incident at 6.50pm, Muhammad Amirul Rasyid Mohd Niza, 28, was stabbed in the chest by a 31-year-old man. Tragically, the single father had planned to shop for his wedding gifts on the night of the incident. The victim's younger brother, Muhammad Amirul Hakim, 27, told Sinar Harian that he was chatting with the deceased outside their house when a car stopped nearby. "I thought it was my brother's friend. But a man got out of the car, approached us, and without saying anything, stabbed my brother in the chest. "I immediately screamed and held onto the suspect to prevent him from escaping while cradling my blood-soaked brother," he said. He added that the suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended by residents who tied him up with a rope," he said, adding that the victim was still alive at that point. "There was so much blood, and my mother fainted upon seeing my brother's condition. At the time of the incident, 10 of my other siblings were at home. What happened was a huge shock to our family because it occurred so suddenly," he said. The deceased had just returned home after taking his only child out for a walk. Since separating from his wife a few years ago, the deceased's child had been cared for by the family. "The deceased worked at a restaurant and stayed at a worker's hostel in Taman Lavender Height, Senawang. He had been engaged for two weeks and planned to marry this year. "Last night, he was supposed to buy his wedding gifts," he said. Muhammad Amirul Hakim stated that he and his family did not know the suspect and were unsure of the motive behind the incident. "To my knowledge, the deceased had no enemies. I was very close to him, and usually, wherever he went, we would go together," he said. The body of the deceased arrived at Surau Taman Sri Pagi for prayers at 2.48pm before being buried at the Islamic Cemetery in Senawang, Forest Height. Previously, Seremban District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din stated that initial investigations revealed the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between the suspect and the victim. "The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim in the chest with a knife, causing the victim to die at the scene. A medical officer from Hospital Tuanku Jaafar who arrived at the location confirmed the victim's death at 7.28pm," he said. He added that the suspect was apprehended with the help of the public, and the knife used was seized. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, and the suspect is remanded until August 18. "The exact motive behind the incident is still under investigation, and the public with relevant information is urged to come forward to assist in the investigation," he said.

Uniformed officer remanded for alleged abetment in false credit card claims of RM55,000
SEREMBAN — The Negeri Sembilan branch of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has remanded a uniformed officer suspected of abetment in submitting false details for a company credit card payment claim for a hotel booking totalling RM55,000 for personal gain. The four-day remand order until Aug 15 was issued by Magistrate Saiful Sayoti after allowing the MACC's application at the Magistrate's Court today. According to sources, the suspect, a man in his 20s, was detained at about 4pm yesterday when he appeared to give a statement at the state MACC office. 'Initial investigations found that the suspect conspired with a clerk of a tourism company based in the capital who was previously remanded on July 16. Both suspects are believed to have committed the act from March 2023 to February 2024 by submitting company credit card payment claim documents containing false details of hotel bookings for supposedly official company business but actually for personal gain,' he said. Meanwhile, the state MACC director Awgkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awg Ismail, when contacted, confirmed the arrest and said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009. — BERNAMA

Melaka RTD seizes RM6 million worth of luxury cars in special operation
MELAKA: The Melaka Road Transport Department (RTD) has seized seven luxury vehicles worth nearly RM6 million in a targeted enforcement operation. The operation, named Op Khas Luxury, ran from 1 July until today. Among the confiscated vehicles were high-end brands such as Bentley, Porsche, BMW, and Toyota Alphard. Melaka RTD director Siti Zarina Mohd Yusop said the vehicles were impounded for various offences, including expired road tax and missing insurance coverage. She noted that owners often claimed they 'overlooked' or 'forgot' to renew their documents. The latest seizure involved a Toyota Alphard driven by a Myanmar national with six other passengers of the same nationality. The vehicle was stopped at the Jasin Toll entrance around 10 am today. Siti Zarina said the driver lacked a valid licence, and none of the passengers had proper travel documents. All individuals were handed over to the police for further investigation. She added that checks revealed the vehicle was registered to a local owner. Authorities are investigating whether the car was rented to the foreigners involved. Op Khas Luxury was launched nationwide on 1 July to tighten enforcement on imported and luxury vehicles violating road laws. In a separate operation, Op PeWA, 36 motorcycles ridden by foreigners were also seized today. Riders from Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Rohingya, Myanmar, and Vietnam were found committing offences such as driving without a licence and expired road tax.
