Red light exposure positively influences sleep onset, sleep duration and overall sleep efficiency by stimulating the production of melatonin, the all-important sleep-inducing hormone.
Melatonin is responsible for making us feel sleepy. While bright white light suppresses this hormone, warm red light prompts the brain, specifically the pineal gland, to release it. So if you already have one of the best mattresses but you're still not getting enough sleep, a shortage of melatonin could be to blame.
In fact, light is a key circadian cue and you can regulate your circadian rhythm with carefully-timed light exposure. Specifically, evening red light exposure and morning sunlight exposure helps your body get used to producing sleep-wake hormones at the right time of day so you fall asleep fast at night and wake up refreshed in the morning.
What I really love about a red light clip is that it's lightweight and portable enough to take with me wherever I go. Microsoft Study: AI Will Replace, Automate These Jobs
These careers are most likely to be affected by generative AI, based on data from 200,000 conversations with Microsoft's Copilot chatbot. AI has a high chance of replacing many professions, according to a new Microsoft report. Microsoft researchers analyzed an anonymous dataset consisting of 200,000 conversations between U.S. users and its Copilot chatbot during nine months of last year and published the resulting study last week. The report found that the jobs with the highest chance of being replaced by AI were interpreters and translators. AI has been found to work well for translating, and there are many applications currently on the market, including popular options from Google (can create translated AI voiceovers) and Amazon (translates 164 languages in real time). The researchers noted that gathering information, including about history, was one of the most successfully completed tasks by AI. Copilot users tasked the chatbot with prompts about researching historical or social issues and examining materials for accuracy. Also on the list were CNC (Computer Numerical Control) programmers, who create and develop the code that tells CNC machines to cut, drill, or mill materials. AI is taking over CNC programming by automating the process and making it more efficient with faster production times and reduced waste. Meanwhile, the study also identified where AI is barely being used. Two professions that fell under this category were nursing assistants and massage therapists, which made it on the list because they require working with people in person. Other professions were AI-proof because they required operating or monitoring machinery, like truck and tractor operators, or manual labor, like dishwashers and roofers. Based on this feedback, the researchers calculated an AI applicability score, which measured how well different work activities are performed or supported by AI. The more thumbs-up feedback a response receives, the higher the user satisfaction and the greater the likelihood that AI could take over that task. The sourced employment numbers are from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Sharge added a rechargeable battery to its sleek retractable charger
Sharge has demonstrated again and again that the chargers and power banks you use to keep your devices running don't need to look like boring gray bricks. The company has updated its transparent Retractable 65 wall charger, released earlier this year, with a 10,000mAh battery so it's no longer completely dependent on an outlet. The only tradeoff is that its power output has dropped from 65W to just 30W, making it mostly useful for charging smartphones and tablets. The Retractable 3-in-1 Power Bank is now available through Sharge's online store for $49.99, but is currently discounted to $44.99. That's the same price as Anker's $45 10,000mAh power bank and charger that includes a built-in USB-C cable, but Anker's power cord doesn't retract and is relatively short. Sharge's is over 27 inches long, and according to the company, has been tested to survive over 30,000 cycles of being retracted and extended. The retraction mechanism will potentially long outlive the battery's ability to hold a charge. Although the Retractable 65 delivers enough power to charge laptops and handheld gaming devices like the Switch 2 which requires at least 54W, the output of Sharge's new 3-in-1 falls well below that, even while plugged into an outlet. That limits its usefulness, but it does include an additional USB-C port so you can charge two smaller devices simultaneously. The power bank's design is an homage to Braun's iconic Audio 300 stereo, designed by Dieter Rams. On one side the 300 featured a record player, represented by the power bank's retractable cable mechanism, while the other side featured a radio and various tubing knobs. Sharge's device skips those features but includes a bright white LED dot matrix display on the front showing the battery's remaining charge level. It also features a matching wrist strap, but unlike Anker has done, it doesn't double as an additional USB-C charging cable which feels like a missed opportunity to cram a bit more functionality in.
