There aren't many businesses that have rewarded shareholders as much as Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) has. The entertainment giant has seen its share price catapult 49,590% higher in the past two decades (as of June 19). A $2,020 investment in the company in June 2005 would be worth $1 million today, which is surely a wonderful outcome.
Netflix is now worth $520 billion, making it one of the world's most valuable businesses. If you buy this streaming stock today, could it help you become a millionaire in the future?

Growing at a double-digit pace
As a disruptor to the media industry, Netflix has achieved impressive growth historically. The company launched its streaming service in the U.S. in 2007. And by the end of 2024, it had eclipsed 300 million global subscribers. The business has a presence in more than 190 countries across the globe, highlighting its broad reach.
Netflix no longer reports its quarterly subscriber metrics. However, the business continues to grow at a double-digit pace. Revenue was up 12.5% in the firset quarter. Management expects a 15.4% year-over-year jump in the current quarter.
It's not a surprise that the U.S. and Canada are Netflix's two most mature markets. Naturally, the business might be close to reaching a saturation point in these countries. But there's still potential to penetrate less-developed international markets, particularly in Asia-Pacific and Latin America. As the middle class in these areas keeps growing while broadband internet access expands, Netflix can capture more customers.
The leadership team isn't shying away from testing new waters. For example, Netflix no longer allows accounts that share passwords. What's more, the company finally launched an ad-supported streaming option in November 2022, something management said previously that it wouldn't do. This cheaper subscription tier should drive a doubling of ad revenue in 2025, a clear indication of the strong demand and monetization of the lower-cost plan.
And more recently, we've seen Netflix cover live sports. The business has rights to show the National Football League's Christmas Day games through 2026. And it has the U.S. rights for the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2027 and 2031.
Investors should be realistic about expectations
Netflix has become a dominant enterprise. It has built up durable competitive strengths that make it hard to disrupt and that raise the chances of long-term success. Consider the Netflix brand. It's undoubtedly a leader in the media and entertainment space on a worldwide basis. Netflix is also used interchangeably as a verb, showcasing how much consumer mindshare the brand has.
Netflix generated $40 billion in trailing-12-month revenue, and as previously mentioned, it has more than 300 million members. This gives it tremendous scale, allowing the business to invest heavily in content at a pace that its competitors can't match.
Consequently, Netflix's scale has resulted in huge profits. The financial forecast calls for a 29% operating margin in 2025, with free cash flow of $8 billion planned as well.
With so many wonderful qualities, investors might be inclined to buy shares in the hopes that Netflix can one day make them millionaires. But it's best to keep expectations in check. Netflix is a mature company, so it's likely that the pace of growth will continue to slow in the years ahead. That's a reasonable expectation to have.
The valuation also doesn't help the cause. As of June 19, the stock trades at an expensive price-to-earnings ratio of about 58. To be fair, Netflix is an outstanding company, but it no longer has the massive upside it did when it was at an earlier stage of its lifecycle.
It's worth pointing out that investors shouldn't put all their hope in a single business. Building wealth in the stock market requires a diversified approach.

Dutchie's Fresh Market and its business director, Michael Renkema, have been sentenced after more than a year of allegations, protests, orders to pay and court delays. Renkema pleaded guilty to 13 counts of wage theft under the Employment Standards Act in December 2024. On June 20, 2025, a joint submission was filed by the Crown and lawyer for Dutchie's and Renkema. It recommended a $25,000 fine for Dutchie's as a corporation and an additional $7,500 for Renkema alone. Justice Michael Cuthbertson agreed with that sentence. He also decided Renkema and Dutchie's would not have to pay any additional victim surcharges. According to Renkema's lawyer, Rachel Goldenberg, the 13 former employees involved in the case have now been paid. She said more than $10,000 in fees also went to the Ministry of Labour and Ministry of Finance. Goldenberg then asked the judge to give Renkema 20 months to pay off the fines. Justice Cuthbertson agreed. Two victim impact statements were read in court before the sentencing. One was from a former employee who said he had recently moved to Canada. 'When the payment delays began, I felt betrayed and exploited. I made several efforts to address the situation, sending emails and messages explaining the difficulties I was facing, but no resolution was provided,' the statement read. Renkema sent CTV News a statement on the day the sentence was delivered. 'We are deeply sorry for the lengthy process and burden this has been for all involved, especially the employees. Though the Gateway [Kitchener] location sustained losses in the millions, primarily due to poor workmanship of the refrigeration contractor, we understand we have obligations to our employees and our suppliers. It is our goal to continue to honor these obligations. We do thank customers who have supported us in honoring this goal. '[They] went over and above what you needed to sell snacks,' the privacy commissioner told CTV News. Those machines should have never been installed, she said, if the school had followed proper procedures. Students were alarmed last year when they saw an error message displayed on a machine in the Modern Languages building that read: ' – Application Error.' They filed a formal complaint with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC) in Feb. 2024 Ontario's privacy commissioner spoke exclusively with CTV News about the investigation. Patricia Kosseim said the 'over-collection' of personal information was concerning. The University of Waterloo, the privacy commissioner added, was not the only school to use the vending machines. 'We've gotten a lot of emails from people that have seen them all over the province.' For Kosseim, the problem started before the contract was signed for the smart vending machines. 'Had they had proper due diligence in the course of their procurement practice… they would have probably twigged onto the fact that there was technology behind them, smart technology, that should have prompted the university to conduct a privacy impact assessment and then, unpack all of these features which would have given them the choice, the option, to say, 'No, you can't do this.'' The business, formerly the Kitchener Harley Davidson on Kingsway Drive, changed hands in 2019 but remained one of the few independent dealerships. 'This was a really difficult decision for our ownership group to make,' said Blackbridge General Manager Erin Mitchell. 'At the end of the day, this is a luxury brand and times are hard. It's really hard to make that investment at the same levels that we had coming out of Covid, and previous economic conditions.' Citing financial pressures, the Blackbridge team opted to divest from Harley Davidson. The dealership had been a one-stop shop for the company's merchandise, parts and services. Police said he was going approximately 120 km/h on Stone Road and, in the interest of public safety, they stopped their pursuit. They then turned to social media to find the motorcyclist. Police noted he was wearing a sweater with 'come get me' written across the back. That post, they said, was viewed 575,000 times and several tips were reported, which led to the identification of the rider. On June 13, a 20-year-old Guelph man was arrested and charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, stunt driving and offences under the Highway Traffic Act. He also received a 30-day suspension and his motorcycle was seized for 14 days. Some parts of the bike, police added, had been wrapped in red 'in an apparent attempt to avoid detection.' Road construction begins in southwest London

Extension of Bradley Avenue begins on Monday. (Source: City of London) More construction in London's southwest begins on Monday, with the extension of Bradley Avenue. The road will be extended beyond White Oak Road to Wharncliffe Road South. According to the City of London, this will improve connectivity, support future growth and bring a new four-lane road to the area. Another upgrade to Bradley Avenue will include new sidewalks, bike lanes, street lighting and an open drainage channel between White Oak Road and Jalna Boulevard. Part of the project includes phase one of the White Oaks Tributary Complete Corridor, which will add a new drainage chancel and natural heritage improvements. Doug MacRae, Director, Transportation and Mobility said the Bradley Avenue extension supports continued growth and improvement on how people move around the city. 'This is more than just roadwork, it's an investment in how we move, grow and live in southwest London,' said MacRae. The extension aligns with London's long-term growth management strategy in the southwest area.
