Information pavilion showcasing State govt. achievements in two years inaugurated

Minister for Medical Education, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Sharan Prakash Patil inaugurated an information pavilion at the Kalaburagi Central Bus Stand on Wednesday for showcasing the achievements of the State government in the last two years. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Patil said that the government has implemented the five pre-poll guarantee schemes with the objective of strengthening the lives of the beneficiaries. 'The opposition should stop making baseless allegations and recognise the reality. These schemes have brought hope and security to the people of Karnataka,' he claimed. The pavilion, organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations, provides comprehensive information on the government's performance in agriculture, healthcare, infrastructure, housing and the welfare of marginalised communities in the last two years. It also features testimonials from beneficiaries, financial details and highlights the positive impact of the five guarantee schemes. 'Pragatiyatta Karnataka' (Progressing Karnataka), the theme of the exhibit, is supported by messages from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. Dr. Patil has appealed to the people to visit and explore the pavilion. Responding to a question about delays in disbursing the monthly ₹2,000 under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, Dr. Patil clarified a delay of 10-15 days did not imply that the scheme has failed. 'The government has to function with financial constraints. We have implemented the schemes effectively for two years and we will continue to do it over the remaining three,' he added. Vice-president of the State Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority, S.R. Mehroz Khan said that the guarantee schemes are rooted in the ideals of Basavanna, Mahatma Gandhi and B.R. Ambedkar. He commended the Department of Information and Public Relations for providing such a unique and accessible platform to educate the public. A brochure highlighting the progress of the five guarantee schemes was distributed to the public on the occasion. Open till June 10 The pavilion will remain open to the public until June 10. 125 Malkangiri villages to be brought under PM-JANMAN

Koraput: In a major stride toward inclusive and equitable growth, 125 villages across five tribal-dominated blocks in Malkangiri district have been brought under the ambit of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN). Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The initiative aims to transform the lives of around 23,000 individuals, many belonging to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) such as the Bonda and Didayi communities. Officials confirmed that the scheme will be executed through a coordinated effort involving eight govt departments, targeting over 5,000 households across the blocks of Khairaput, Chitrakonda, Mathili, Korukonda, and Malkangiri. So far, 1,665 beneficiaries have been selected for housing under PM-JANMAN, and over 160 houses have already been completed, said collector (Malkangiri) Asish Iswar Patil. To address basic infrastructure gaps, mega drinking water projects are underway in 124 villages, with 10 systems operational. Simultaneously, the rural development department is spearheading construction of roads across five blocks. The department concerned has been asked to identify gaps where anganwadi centres are required, and we expect to complete their construction by year-end, the collector added. Healthcare access is also being prioritized, with seven mobile health units providing doorstep medical services across the region. The Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) will construct 10 hostels for students from remote areas to ensure continued access to education. Officials said efforts are underway to enhance connectivity with mobile network services to be extended to 16 unconnected villages, of which three have already received coverage. ‘Dignity, respect for all': Who is the dist judge co-leading Pune Pride Parade?

District judge Sonal S Patil, who would be the co-grand marshal of Yutak Charitable Trust's Pune Pride on Sunday, has a long career in the judiciary. As the secretary of the Pune District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Patil said the decision to join the march was to proudly support the LBGTQ+ community's quest for equality and inclusivity. With a career of over 15 years in the judiciary, Patil has worked across Maharashtra in various judicial capacities. She was promoted as the deputy registrar of the Bombay High Court in 2019 and later as an Officer on Special Duty to the Supreme Court of India. She was appointed as the secretary of DLSA in 2023. At present, Patil is pursuing her PhD in Cyber Law from Bharati Vidyapeeth. Patil had started the Nyay Sanhita Project, which aims to provide legal aid and welfare scheme information to the marginalised community. Patil had organised National Lok Adalats which have resulted in the successful resolution of over 7,26,00 cases, with settlements amounting to Rs 2,698 crore. DLSA, Patil said, has a host of services for the community, which includes free legal aid and counselling for individuals, support in filing cases related to discrimination and rights violation, awareness programmes on legal rights and entitlements and collaboration with NGOs and community organisations for holistic support. 'Inclusivity is essential for a free and equitable society,' she said. Inclusivity, Patil saw, allows for the promotion of diversity as well as foster a sense of belonging. 'When individuals feel included, they are more likely to feel a sense of belonging, which can lead to increased confidence, motivation, and productivity,' she said. Patil emphasised that the LGBTQ+ community has the right to protection from discrimination on the basis of their sexual orientation and gender identity as upheld by the Supreme Court of India in the Navtej Singh Johar case. Patil said DLSA works to empower the marginalised community to assert their rights and access to justice. 'Our work is to uphold the rule of law and ensure all individuals are treated with diginity and respect,' she said.
