‘I got some peace': Pahalgam terror attack victim's wife on killing of 3 terrorists; another thanks PM Modi, Indian Army

BALASORE: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, detailing the government's response to the
Pahalgam terror attack
through
Operation Sindoor
and highlighting the recent success of Operation Mahadev, the victims' families expressed a sense of relief and gratitude.
Priyadarshini Acharya, wife of Prashant Satpathy—who was killed in the Pahalgam attack—welcomed the government's military response and extended her thanks to both the
Indian Army
and the Prime Minister.
"After the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor was started and now, Operation Mahadev is going on. The three terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack have been killed, and this is a welcome move. I would like to extend my gratitude to the Indian Army and Prime Minister Modi.
I want Operation Mahadev to continue till the time all terrorists are killed, " Priyadarshini said.
A
ishanya Dwivedi, wife of Shubham Dwivedi who was also killed in the April attack, responded from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. While she acknowledged the government's action, she expressed disappointment that the Prime Minister did not mention the 26 victims who lost their lives in the attack, saying it deeply hurt her.
"Prime Minister said everything in detail today. Right after the Pahalgam attack, the opposition questioned why the government was not doing anything. Then Operation Sindoor happened. When the operation was paused, they again started questioning, why are we not doing anything. The Prime Minister said that the government has been doing everything it can, it doesn't need to prove its actions time and again. One thing that hurt me the most was that the Prime Minister made no mention of those 26 people.
Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi mentioned those 26 victims, and I thank them for that. I was expecting the Prime Minister to make a mention of those 26 people, but he didn't. The ceasefire must have been a decision of our armed forces and the government, and no third nation must have had any say in it. Our country is capable enough to make its decisions," she said.
From Behala, Kolkata, Shabari Guha, wife of victim Sameer Guha, said the killing of the attackers brought a sense of relief and said, "I would like to congratulate our armed forces, CRPF and J&K police, as they did a big operation and achieved success.
Such a big wound cannot be erased, but at least there is some relief. After the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the government took many steps. Operation Sindoor was launched and we were hopeful that the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam terrorist attack would be killed.
The armed forces should eliminate terrorists wherever they are in the country...We trust the government and the armed forces."
In Bhavnagar, Gujarat, Kiran Parmar, the wife of Yatish Parmar, another victim of the attack, said, "I got some peace after the soldiers killed three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
The armed forces should eliminate terrorists wherever they are in the country. I express my gratitude to the armed forces and Prime Minister Modi."
Earlier, three terrorists were gunned down during an intense encounter with security forces in the Harwan area near Dachigam National Park in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army said on Monday. The operation, codenamed Mahadev, was carried out in the Lidwas area by the Army's Chinar Corps.
"OP MAHADEV - Contact established in General Area Lidwas. Operation in progress," the Chinar Corp said in a previous post on X.
On Tuesday, while addressing the Lok Sabha during a session on Operation Sindoor, Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed that three terrorists involved in the brutal Pahalgam terror attack had been eliminated by security forces under Operation Mahadev.
He began his speech by stating that those responsible for killing innocent civilians in Pahalgam have been brought to justice, adding, 'The terrorists who killed our citizens have been neutralised.'
"In a joint Operation Mahadev, the Indian Army, CRPF, and J&K Police have neutralised three terrorists who were involved in the Pahalgam terror attack," Shah said while addressing the lower house.
"Innocent civilians were killed in front of their families for asking about their religion. I condemn this barbaric act. I express my sympathies to the families who lost their loved ones," he added.

‘Is he worthy of lunch with Trump': Congress slams Pak Army chief Asim Munir's nuclear threat from US

Congress on Monday slammed Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir's nuclear threat against India, those who do not support India on 'Operation Sindoor' should also wake up. File photo: Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan Asim Munir holds a microphone during his visit at the Tilla Field Firing Ranges (TFFR)(REUTERS) Pakistani military chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, made a threat from the United States, saying that Islamabad would take down "half the world" with it, if his country faces an existential threat in future with India. 'We are a nuclear nation, if we think we are going down, we'll take half the world down with us,' reports quoted Asim Munir as saying at the event in Tampa. 'Direct threat to Trump', says Congress Backing Operation Sindoor and the Indian and the Indian Army, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari said on Asim Munir's statement, 'We are very proud of our Indian army. Pakistan has been exposed. Now the whole world knows what intention Pakistan have. So the world should wake up. Those who do not support India on 'Operation Sindoor' should also wake up.' "We are confident that we will protect India, but this is a direct threat to Trump and Russia. Is the person who has threatened to destroy half the world worthy of sitting and eating lunch with you? Are you entertaining him? This is a dangerous statement. The United Nations Security Council should take cognisance of this," Tiwari said, speaking to ANI news agency. Another Congress MP, Sukhdeo Bhagat, said India knows its power, its limitations, and how to respond, adding that Munir's statement also threatens Donald Trump. "The clouds that thunder do not rain. India knows its power, its limitations, and how to respond. The way he (Asim Munir) is making all these statements while in America also threatens Trump. Speaking such violent words, and with Trump currently trying to portray himself as a peace messenger, raises the question of what Trump will say. Therefore, Trump should consider these things. India does not need to worry about them. India is capable of giving answers...," Sukhdeo Bhagat said. Addressing the Pakistani diaspora in Florida's Tampa, Asim Munir also repeated is anti-India rhetoric, saying "Kashmir is the jugular vein" of Pakistan". Weeks before the April 22 Pahalgam attack, Munir said Pakistan will not forget the issue of Kashmir, asserting, "It was our jugular vein." Trashing his comments, India had said, "How can anything foreign be in a jugular vein? This is a union territory of India. Its only relationship with Pakistan is the vacation of illegally occupied territories by that country."

Parliament Monsoon Session Live Updates: Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha adjourned till 2pm

Parliament Monsoon Session Live Updates: Opposition MPs from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are scheduled to march on Monday from Makar Dwar in Parliament to the Election Commission's office at Nirvachan Sadan, starting at 11:30 am and passing via Transport Bhawan. The Delhi Police have said no permission has been sought for the proposed INDIA bloc protest march, which aims to highlight concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar and alleged 'voter fraud' in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. On Sunday, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh claimed the bloc's MPs had already marched to the EC to register their protest. At a press conference, he alleged, 'All the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were filling out 'fake forms' in one room,' and accused the poll body of rushing a process that took two years in 2003 into just one month this time. He further said Rahul Gandhi had presented 'facts that no one could deny,' including instances where 'the name of one person appeared at multiple locations, including polling booths,' and had demanded electronic voter list data to detect duplicate votes. Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha has a busy schedule on Monday, starting at 11 am with question hour, followed by the laying of papers on the table by ministers from various departments. These include Gajendra Singh Shekhawat (Culture), Jayant Chaudhary (Education), Pankaj Chaudhary (Finance), Kirtivardhan Singh (Environment, Forest and Climate Change), and Sukanta Majumdar (Education). Multiple committee reports, ministerial statements, and legislative business are also on the agenda.

PM Modi inaugurates newly-constructed flats for MPs

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 184 newly constructed Type-VII multi-storey flats for Members of Parliament at Baba Kharak Singh Marg in New Delhi on Monday (August 11, 2025). PM Modi also planted the Sindoor sapling at the residential premises and interacted with 'shramjeevis', workers behind the flats. The four towers are named Krishna, Godavari, Kosi, and Hooghly. Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said, 'Some people will feel uncomfortable with Kosi as the name of a tower. They will not view it as a river, but rather through the lens of the Bihar elections... However, they have been named after the four great rivers of India.' These rivers are the lifelines for so many people in India. With this, prosperity and happiness will flow in the lives of our MPs as well, he said. 'These rivers unite the people of India,' the Prime Minister said. The complex is designed to be self-sufficient and is equipped with a full range of modern amenities to address the functional needs of the members of the Parliament, a statement said. 'Incorporating green technology, the project adheres to the standards of the GRIHA 3-star rating and complies with the National Building Code (NBC) 2016. These environmentally sustainable features are expected to contribute to energy conservation, renewable energy generation, and effective waste management,' the statement added. The use of advanced construction technology— specifically, monolithic concrete with aluminum shuttering— enabled timely completion of the project while ensuring structural durability. The complex is also 'divyang'-friendly, demonstrating a commitment to inclusive design, the statement said. The development of the project was necessitated due to shortage of adequate housing for Members of Parliament, it said. Owing to the limited availability of land, there has been a sustained emphasis on vertical housing developments aimed at optimising land use and minimising maintenance costs. Each residential unit offers approximately 5,000 square feet of carpet area, providing ample space for both residential and official functions, the statement said. The inclusion of dedicated areas for offices, staff accommodation, and a community centre will support members of Parliament in fulfilling their responsibilities as public representatives, it said. All buildings within the complex are constructed to be earthquake-resistant, in accordance with modern structural design norms. A comprehensive and robust security system has been implemented to ensure the safety of all residents, the statement said.
