Vivek Agnihotri slams John Abraham for ‘mediocre acting' in Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal: He couldn't say 5 lines of dialogue
Vivek Agnihotri recently spoke about the behind-the-scenes events during the making of the film Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal. He revealed that when he was working on the film, the production house UTV didn't consider him a capable writer. According to him, UTV was fascinated by the idea of working with Anurag Kashyap, even though the film's subject did not align with him. Citing industry chatter, Vivek dismissed Anurag's claim that he wasn't even taken along for the film's London schedule, stating that John had come on board primarily because of Anurag.
Vivek said that Goal was still a good film for its time, with the film's songs becoming chartbusters. He added, "But there were many problems during that time. In the middle of it all, Bipasha Basu and John Abraham broke up during the making of the film. When you're in love, you have to deal with one set of issues, and after a breakup, a whole new set of problems arises. So, it became very difficult for me to manage everything. Even though I was the director of the film, the entire system was functioning based on the intelligence of a very mediocre actor." Vivek criticises John Abraham, praises Anurag Kashyap
Vivek criticised John for his "mediocre acting" and said, "Everyone was like, 'Let's take John, he is a footballer. That's how he became a part of the film. But you tell me, if it's a film about football, what should an actor do? We called a premium league coach to train Arshad Warsi, Raj Joshi, and they all put their soul in preparing, but in all of John's scenes, we had to shoot his face and feet separately. And Arshad had given his all for that film. He questioned me on things, he didn't tell me, 'reduce my dialogues' Why? Because you can't say them at once? You can't say five lines of dialogues in rhythm at once. This is your problem. Then why should these actor be given so much money?" About Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal

KGF producer reveals 'big star' was approached for film; he dismissed it saying: 'Where do Kannada films even run'
For years, to the northern Indian audience, 'south' films meant Tamil and Telugu. These were the two industries that had stars who would cross over in Hindi films, and some of their films would do good business as well. Malayalam was regarded as good cinema, but it never reached the masses in the north. And Kannada cinema was relegated to being the poor cousin of the other three. It was KGF that changed this perception. The film series' record-breaking box office collections, particularly in the north, raised the stature of Kannada cinema. Soon, hits like Vikrant Rona and Kantara followed suit, and the scale of Kannada films was elevated. The two KGF films, starring Yash, grossed ₹ 1500 crore worldwide. Chaluve Gowda, producer of films like KGF and Kantara, believes that the audience in the north is aware of Kannada films now. "Our vision was to take our stories outside and make them universal. For instance, that ritual in Kantara (Bhuta Kola) has become a worldwide phenomenon. That was our intention," he says, talking about the success of his films. What a big star said on KGF In an exclusive chat with Hindustan Times, Gowda, who is the co-founder of Hombale Films, says people's responses to them have changed over the last few years after the success of their films. "We went to a big star for KGF years ago. They asked, 'Where do these Kannada films even run?' At that time, not many people knew about Kannada films outside of Karnataka. They knew a few names like Dr Rajkumar or Puneeth, or (Kiccha) Sudeep. But that was it. That has definitely changed now." KGF, starring Yash, went on to gross ₹250 crore, becoming the highest-grossing Kannada film at the time. The record was broken by its sequel - KGF Chapter 2, which amassed a historic ₹1250 crore worldwide. Upcoming titles from Hombale Films Now, the same people approach Gowda and his team for opportunities, he says with a laugh. "We have been successful, and the bar is set high," says Gowda cautiously, "Now, we have to maintain the standard, or be better than that." Hombale Films is gearing up for the release of the prequel Kantara: Chapter 1 this October. Gowda informs us that they plan to go on the floors with the sequel of Prabhas' Salaar next year, and have also signed Hrithik Roshan on for a Hindi film.

Coolie First Day First Show Tickets Sold For Rs 4,500 In Chennai Black Market
Rajinikanth's film Coolie has led to ticket prices soaring, with black market rates hitting Rs 4,500 for first-day, first-show screenings in Chennai. The excitement surrounding superstar Rajinikanth's highly anticipated film Coolie has triggered an unexpected surge in ticket prices, particularly for the first-day, first-show (FDFS) screenings. In Chennai, reports reveal that black market scalpers are selling these coveted tickets for as much as Rs 4,500. Advance bookings for Coolie have seen unprecedented enthusiasm not only in Tamil Nadu but also across other Indian states and international markets. This overwhelming demand has unfortunately led to widespread black marketing. Single-screen cinemas and fan clubs have allegedly violated Tamil Nadu government regulations by inflating ticket prices. A report from India Today highlights one Chennai theatre reportedly selling FDFS tickets for Rs 4,500. Meanwhile, in Pollachi, a theatre staff member was caught on camera selling tickets at Rs 400, well above the official price limit. Sharing his frustration with the inflated prices, a dedicated Rajinikanth admirer told the outlet, 'I have tried my luck at all the popular theatres in Chennai. Tickets are priced at Rs 600, Rs 1,000, with the highest being Rs 4,500. I can't book online for the first show as they're either blocked or sold out. Fans like me have no other choice but to buy in black or wait until later shows at regular rates." The frenzy is not limited to Tamil Nadu. Neighboring states have also witnessed rising prices for the dubbed versions of Coolie. Kerala and Karnataka have announced early morning shows starting as soon as 6 a.m., while Tamil Nadu's first screening is set for 9 am in adherence to state government guidelines. Scheduled for release on August 14, Coolie has already generated significant revenue, recovering over 66 per cent of its Rs 375 crore budget before hitting theatres. According to Pinkvilla, the film's makers have earned approximately Rs 250 crore through the sale of international distribution, digital streaming, music, and satellite rights. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie promises a quintessential Rajinikanth-style mass entertainer, featuring a star-studded cast including Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan in key roles.
