Report: Tension between Micah Parsons, Cowboys intensifying over contract
Parsons, 26, is at training camp with the team but not taking part in on-field activities. He is entering his fifth season in the NFL, and the Cowboys picked up his $24 million option but have yet to sign him to an extension that undoubtedly would put him among the league's high-paid defensive players.
The Cowboys and the two-time All-Pro are not currently negotiating, with their contract numbers "far apart," per The Athletic.
Parsons, selected with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, was the defensive rookie of the year that season.
Per The Athletic, Parsons and team owner Jerry Jones talked directly in the spring, and the Cowboys believe their conversations were negotiations with a deal for an extension in place. The Parsons' camp instead portrayed the meetings as just talks and not negotiations, and that the Cowboys have declined to negotiate with his agent because team officials believed an agreement already was in place.
Defensive end Myles Garrett signed a four-year, $160 million extension with the Cleveland Browns, and Maxx Crosby inked a three-year, $106.5 million extension with the Las Vegas Raiders this year. A Parsons extension likely would be in the same ballpark -- or more.
Speaking in April at the NFL's annual league meeting, Jones acknowledged his conversation with Parsons, saying the two spoke for "five or six hours" to work out a long-term extension.
"Most of the issues we are in agreement on. We discussed it all," Jones said April 1. "But we obviously don't have an agreement relative to the new contract."
The Dallas Morning News reported in March that Parsons was seeking a record-setting $200 million contract extension that would make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL.
Parsons recorded 12 sacks, 43 tackles and two forced fumbles in 13 games (all starts) last season.
A Pro Bowl selection in each of his first four seasons in the league, Parsons has totaled 256 tackles (63 for loss), 112 quarterback hits, 52.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries in 63 career games (all starts).

Anyone wondering why NBA owners seem to be pushing harder for starting an NBA league in Europe than expanding domestically, we have some answers for you. But it's all about the money. Commissioner Adam Silver has been in Europe this past week, talking up the NBA's vision and selling it to potential stakeholders in the new venture, including Real Madrid, reports Joe Varden of The Athletic. Part of what Silver and the league are pitching is a $500 million per team franchise fee to buy in, reports the Sports Business Journal. The NBA is pursuing franchise fees of more than $500M from teams looking to join the prospective NBA Europe, with multiple sources maintaining the league's preferred number is somewhere between half a billion and $1B.... Franchise valuations are also said to be part of ancillary discussions with banks and private equity conglomerates, as part of an effort to settle on a dollar figure. An official from one EuroLeague franchise had earlier scoffed at a proposed $500M figure, and -- considering the template for NBA Europe includes existing EuroLeague clubs -- it seemed unclear whether teams will be priced out of joining. They could secure a share of these massive franchise fees — at least 10 teams at half a billion each is $5 billion at minimum, about what the expansion fee would be for a team in Seattle or Las Vegas — without having to give up any of their new national television revenue or equity in the league. What the NBA envisions is a few current big-name European teams — "A" license-holding, stakeholding teams from the existing EuroLeague — jumping ship to the new NBA league, with Real Madrid seen as the most willing team to make a move (Tony Parker-owned ASVEL Basket also is one to watch). Then the NBA could tap into sovereign wealth funds and private equity — groups limited in how much of a stateside NBA team they can own — to put together expansion teams or prop up smaller existing teams, something Varden details at The Athletic. The United Kingdom is home to soccer's mighty Premier League and is also another place where the NBA could attract big soccer dollars from Middle Eastern sovereign funds. The British Basketball League's reigning champion, London Lions, is owned by tech giant Tesonet... Additionally, Silver and his associates met in London this week with representatives from four private equity firms (CVC, RedBird, Bridgepoint and KKR), as well as officials from the Turkish basketball and soccer club Galatasaray. The NBA believes there is money left on the table in Europe, in areas such as broadcast rights and getting new, larger arenas built. What the NBA touts is its brand name and its business acumen — the ability to squeeze every dollar out of the business of basketball. What Real Madrid and teams such as FC Barcelona or Fenerbahçe Istanbul bring is history and a built-in fan base for the league. We're still a few years away from an NBA league in Europe, but it has become a growing focus for the league. From an existing NBA owner's perspective, it's easy to see why this is attractive. We'll see if the European clubs (and fan bases) feel the same way.

New York Giants' Jermaine Eluemunor hilariously supports Micah Parsons' trade request
Hell yeah bro go get your money in the AFC! Shortly after offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor signed with the New York Giants last offseason, he quickly became a fan favorite solely due to how excited he was to be a Giant. Elumunor has continued to embrace being a Giant ahead of his second season with the team. Following the news of Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons requesting a trade, Elumunor took to X to show his support for Parsons' trade request. He did it in a way that only Eluemunor could. Eluemunor doesn't just want Parsons out of the NFC East but out of the NFC altogether. Parsons was the second player from the NFC East to request a trade this week after Washington Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin also requested a trade as he remains unhappy with his contract. The Giants would be fortunate to see either player shipped out of the NFC East. Eluemunor, who welcomes the challenge of going up against the league's best, was forced to explain his comments when the joke clearly went over several heads. It's a joke yall lmao I want to go against the best all season Almost immediately after Parsons made his trade request, Giants fans dug up an old tweet and encouraged him to join Big Blue. It's only right the NFL lets me and Abdul play together!! The Cowboys aren't going to trade their best player within the division, nor do the Giants have the assets to acquire Parsons or the cap space necessary to give him the contract he is seeking. There is no shortage of talent within the NFC East. However, if Parsons were to get traded, the Cowboys' defense would certainly look a lot less scary.
