Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Cracking down on objectionable content circulating on social media, the city's
cyber crime branch
has successfully taken down 750 posts since Jan 2025, many of which were flagged for their potential to disrupt public order.Due to the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, the rising number of digital threats led law enforcement agencies across the country to step up monitoring of online platforms.Police commissioner Pravin Pawar told TOI the cyber surveillance team was vigilant in identifying posts that could lead to law and order issues.
"Most of these posts were on Instagram and all of them had the potential to disrupt public order. We are keeping a constant watch on digital platforms and acting swiftly to prevent the spread of such content," Pawar said. The cybercrime branch's digital monitoring efforts intensified in recent days, with dedicated teams tracking posts that spread misinformation, provoke communal sentiments, or circulate doctored visuals and videos. The drive is part of a broader effort to ensure that online platforms are not misused to incite unrest or spread panic.Cyber crime branch inspector Shivcharan Padhare said apart from content takedowns, the department also submitted formal requests for the suspension or blocking of 60 social media accounts. These handles, officials claim, were found to be repeatedly posting misleading content or engaging in hate speech."Many of these handles had a pattern of spreading fake news or attempting to create communal tensions. We submitted requests to the respective platforms for blocking these accounts," Padhare said. The cyber unit is also working in collaboration with various social media companies to ensure quick response times when content is flagged. Officers said their efforts are guided by both internal monitoring and complaints received from citizens.Officials have urged social media users to report any suspicious or inflammatory content to the police through available grievance mechanisms. The department assured that the identities of the complainants would be kept confidential.Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Cracking down on objectionable content circulating on social media, the city's cyber crime branch has successfully taken down 750 posts since Jan 2025, many of which were flagged for their potential to disrupt public order.Due to the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, the rising number of digital threats led law enforcement agencies across the country to step up monitoring of online platforms.Police commissioner Pravin Pawar told TOI the cyber surveillance team was vigilant in identifying posts that could lead to law and order issues. Investigation deepens in Rs 10 crore whale vomit case as police track supply chain

Assam Police seizes drugs worth Rs 11.5 crore in two separate operations Margao: A day after the arrest of three persons with nearly 6kg of ambergris, commonly known as whale vomit, worth over Rs 10 crore, Sanguem police continue their investigation into what they suspect to be a sophisticated interstate smuggling network. Sainath Shet from Ponda, Ratuakant Karapurkar from Zuarinagar, and Vegesh Redkar from Sawantwadi were remanded in four-day police custody after they were found in possession of the banned substance at Dabamol, Sanguem. 'The choice of Dabamal village as a trading point remains puzzling,' said a senior police official. 'It's a close-knit community where outsiders are easily noticed, yet the accused chose this location for their transaction.' The seizure of two vehicles provided crucial leads about the transportation routes to the police, though police officials remain tight-lipped over the progress of the investigation. South Goa SP Tikam Singh Verma told TOI that the police obtained some crucial leads in the matter and that they are actively working on them. Police said that more arrests in the case may follow. The case has taken on greater significance as police draw connections to the Feb 2024 seizure by the Konkan Railway police, where two Kerala residents were caught with nearly 6kg of whale vomit valued at Rs 5.6 crore at the Margao railway station. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Brass Idols - Handmade Brass Statues for Home & Gifting Luxeartisanship Buy Now Undo Ambergris, a waxy substance produced in sperm whales' digestive systems, is highly valued in the perfume industry. However, its sale and possession are prohibited in India under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, as it is considered a derivative from protected marine mammals. The substance's rarity and high value make it attractive to smugglers despite severe legal consequences. The three accused were charged under the Wildlife Protection Act's Section 39 (wild animals, to be govt property), Section 44 (prohibits dealing in trophies and animal articles without a licence), Section 49B (prohibits dealing in trophies, animal articles, derived from scheduled animals), and Section 51 (outlines penalties for offences committed under the Act). Police said that the accused intended to trade the ambergris for monetary gain without possessing any authorisation. Police are now also examining possible connections between the current case under investigation and the 2020 Sawantwadi case, where three Goans were arrested.

Has Khaby Lame been deported? ICE issues statement on Las Vegas arrest

Social media influencer Khabane 'Khaby' Lame was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Nevada on Friday over alleged immigration violations. ICE confirmed the incident in a statement to Men's Journal, noting that Lame was later granted 'voluntary departure' and has since left the country. Political activist Bo Loudon was the first to share the news publicly, claiming in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that Lame had been arrested in Las Vegas and was being held at the Henderson Detention Center. 'President Trump's ICE just officially arrested far-left TikToker, Khaby Lame, whom I reported as an illegal alien. According to the official DHS website, he's currently being held at the Henderson Detention Center and is in ICE CUSTODY,' Loudon wrote on X on Friday. In a follow-up post, Loudon wrote, 'Meet far-left TikTok star 'Khaby Lame.' He's an ILLEGAL ALIEN! I've been working with the patriots at President Trump's DHS to make this happen. He was just ARRESTED in Vegas and is in ICE CUSTODY! To verify, go to ICE's Locator, type the A-number, and Senegal as country." Loudon also shared what he claimed was a screenshot from ICE's online detainee locator tool, listing Lame as in custody. However, confusion spread online after Lame appeared active on social media. He posted multiple times on both his Instagram Story and TikTok page following the reports, leading fans to question the authenticity of the claims. Despite this, ICE confirmed the detention in a formal statement to Men's Journal. Following ICE's confirmation, Loudon posted again: "President Trump's ICE just announced the largest TikTok user, ILLEGAL ALIEN Khaby Lame, has "departed" the U.S. after being taken into custody. No one works faster than President Trump's administration." Loudon also shared a screenshot of an email allegedly from an ICE spokesperson. The mail stated: "U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained Seringe Khabane Lame, 25, a citizen of Italy, June 6, at the Harry Reid International Airport, Las Vegas, Nevada for immigration violations. Lame entered the United States April 30 and overstayed the terms of his visa. Lame was granted voluntary departure June 6 and has since departed the U.S.' Also Read: Paramount ICE raids: What is happening near Home Depot and why are people getting arrested? New CCTV clip shows Raja & Sonam at hotel

Indore: A 14-minute-long CCTV footage has emerged of Indore couple Raja and Sonam Raghuvanshi, raising the hope of finding some clues to solve the mystery of who killed him and where is the missing bride. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The footage shows the honeymooners depositing their bags in a hotel before going towards Double Decker Bridge on May 21. Both of them are in raincoats. The couple is seen arriving at 12:42pm on the same two-wheeler that was later found abandoned. Sonam is in a white T-shirt and black trousers under a black-and-pink raincoat. A white shirt was found next to Raja's body and a similar raincoat a few days later in the vicinity though neither has been confirmed to be hers. Raja is seen requesting the manager to allow them to leave their luggage at the hotel while they go to visit Double-Decker Bridge. Sonam puts her raincoat in the boot of the two-wheeler. They transfer a few clothes from their suitcases into a carry bagand head off. They look cheerful and carefree. At 12:45pm, a red hatchback arrives and stops at a short distance. Two minutes later, two men step out of the car and enter the hotel. One of them is seen making entries on the computer, while the other makes a phone call. At 12:56 the couple leave on their two wheeler. Sonam's family members don't think the raincoat found by police is hers. "It's 3XL and it is not clear if she was wearing the same raincoat," said Govind, who has been camping in Shillong. Police are examining the footage but the two families feel Meghalaya cops aren't doing enough to find Sonam or trace Raja's killers. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Govind said: "We were the ones who found this viral CCTV footage. If a common man can do this, why can't police?" He had earlier said that Meghalaya police should "stop looking for a body". "My sister was abducted. We fear she has been trafficked to Bangladesh," he had told TOI. Meghalaya officials say police, SDERF and NDRF teams, have been braving treacherous terrain and harsh weather in their search for Sonam. "Police don't take us to witness the search operation. I am going on my own. They are just completing formalities in the name of searching. For the past three days, they have been searching just 50 metres on either side of a 10km road," he said. "If the body were to be found on a road like that, wouldn't it have come to light in 16 days? Even a five-year-old can understand that. Sohra police are just killing time so that our patience breaks, we leave, and the news stops coming in the media," Govind told TOI. According to local media reports in Meghalaya, a guide in Sohra has told police that he saw Raja and Sonam with three men before the couple went missing. They were talking in Hindi and seemed friendly, the reports said.
