Lil Wayne Recruits The Roots for Singles Medley on ‘SNL50' Special
Wayne was joined by The Roots and DJ T. Lewis for his performance, which opened with 2018 single Uproar, and saw Weezy run through other tunes from his Tha Carter series of albums, including his lone Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper as a solo artist 'Lollipop', followed by '6 Foot 7 Foot' and 'Mrs. Officer'.

The lion's share of the set was devoted to closer 'A Milli', which currently serves as Wayne's standard set-closer, almost 17 years since it was first released. His non-musical contributions to the SNL50 appearance were limited, with the musician closing out his set with a simple, 'Thank you, happy 50th'.
This performance also marks Wayne's fourth time appearing on a Saturday Night Live broadcast as a musical guest, having first made his debut back in 2008 as part of season 34 opening episode. Featuring Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps on hosting duties, Wayne performed 'Got Money' and 'Lollipop' during that initial appearance.
Two years later, he appeared with Eminem and also shared a solo performance of '6 Foot 7 Foot', in an episode which saw Jeff Bridges as host. Wayne would return again in 2018 to appear in a Liev Schreiber-hosted episode where he performed 'Can't Be Broken' with Halsey and 'Uproar' with Swizz Beatz.
Earlier this month, Lil Wayne confirmed that he would be releasing his highly-anticipated Tha Carter VI album on June 6, announcing the news as part of an ad for Cetaphil. The third, fourth and fifth installments of Tha Carter each topped the Billboard 200 and the Drake-assisted 'She Will' has had a second life vaulting the 2011 track to top the TikTok Billboard Top 50 on the Feb. 8-dated tally.
SNL50: The Anniversary Special is airing Sunday night, following Friday's SNL50: The Homecoming Concert on Friday night.

Blackpink May Be About To Beat Its Own Radio Record
A month ago, Blackpink kicked off a new era with a hugely anticipated and high-energy single. The South Korean girl group dropped 'Jump' in July, and the hard electronic cut quickly became a global sensation, as is the case with everything the four women release. 'Jump' is on the decline on several Billboard charts in America, but the song is picking up steam at pop radio. As it advances significantly, Blackpink cements its status as one of the most successful K-pop girl groups of all time – again. Blackpink's Ascent on the Pop Airplay Chart 'Jump' leaps from No. 30 to No. 23 on the Pop Airplay chart, the most competitive of the three pop radio rankings published by Billboard every frame. In its fourth turn on the tally, 'Jump' coincidentally becomes the fourth-highest-rising hit of all time by a K-pop girl group, and it could easily increase its standing again. Fifty Fifty Still Leads So far, just one tune credited to a girl group known primarily for creating K-pop has reached the top 10 on the Pop Airplay chart. 'Cupid' became a breakout smash for Fifty Fifty, flying all the way to No. 7. 'Golden,' which is credited to fake girl group Huntr/X as well as Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami, the actual human singers from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack, currently appears at No. 20, and just like Blackpink's 'Jump,' it is quickly ascending. 'Jump' sits just two spaces behind another Blackpink track, 'Ice Cream,' the group's collaboration with Selena Gomez. That composition still stands as the outfit's highest-rising win, as it stalled at No. 21 several years back. 'Jump' Could Soon Leap to a Historic New High At the rate that 'Jump' has been surging, it could tie, or perhaps even pass, 'Ice Cream' in a few days, or maybe another week or two. Last frame, when 'Jump' counted No. 30 as its high point, the tune ranked as the fifth-highest-peaking hit by any K-pop girl group on the Pop Airplay chart. In fourth place was 'I Do' by (G)I-dle, which only made it to No. 26 before turning around and then quickly disappearing. Blackpink's New Single Remains a Top 10 Win While 'Jump' is on the downswing, the Blackpink cut still lives inside the top 10 on almost every Billboard tally on which it appears. The tune holds inside the highest tier on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S., as well as a trio of genre-specific rosters in America: the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, Dance Streaming Songs, and Dance Digital Song Sales charts, where it currently appears at Nos. 3, 5, and 7, respectively.

Rosé's Recent Collaboration Helps Her Make History
Since Rosé stopped intensely promoting her debut solo album Rosie and its several singles, the K-pop favorite has not been resting on the success of her recent chapter. Rosé joined the F1 soundtrack with 'Messy' and more recently collaborated with rising star Alex Warren on his single 'On My Mind.' That tune enjoyed a short stay on a handful of Billboard's most important rankings, but for more than a month now it has been climbing steadily on the Pop Airplay tally. As 'On My Mind' lifts once more, Rosé advances again on an important all-time roster and even breaks a tie with herself. Rosé Scores One of the Four Biggest K-Pop Hits Rosé and Warren send 'On My Mind' into the top 20 on the Pop Airplay chart for the first time. The single, which is featured on Warren's debut album You'll Be Alright, Kid, jumps from No. 23 to No. 19, hitting a new high point as it ascends. Now that 'On My Mind' has reached its new peak position, it passes several other tracks by K-pop solo female stars and stands as the fourth highest-rising hit by any musician fitting that description in the history of the Pop Airplay tally. Rosé Passes KPop Demon Hunters and Lisa Thanks to its four-spot climb, 'On My Mind' passes three tunes to enter this coveted space, as 'Golden' by Huntr/x and Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami, Blackpink star Lisa's 'Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me),' and even Rosé's own 'Toxic Till the End' have thus far climbed as high as Nos. 20, 21, and 23, respectively. Rosé Claims the Only K-Pop No. 1 The only No. 1 in the history of the Pop Airplay ranking by a K-pop star remains 'Apt.,' another Rosé tune. Her collaboration with Bruno Mars is no longer present on the Pop Airplay list, but it does hold on inside the top 40 on the all-style Radio Songs roster at the moment. Two other singers in Blackpink, Jennie and Lisa, are tied for the second-highest-peaking win, as they both reached No. 18. Jennie did so as a featured artist on The Weeknd's 'One of the Girls' alongside Lily-Rose Depp, while Lisa recently joined Maroon 5 on 'Priceless,' the lead single from the pop band's new album, which also made it all the way to No. 18. 'On My Mind' Could Continue to Climb Warren is still heavily promoting his album and several singles from the set, including 'On My Mind.' When Billboard refreshes its rankings, the duet could climb again, and if their cut lifts just one space, it will match the second highest-rising track by any solo female K-pop star. If it can grow by two or more spaces, the ranking will change dramatically.

A Fake Musical Act Joins BTS With A Major Chart Win
In the span of only a few weeks, Netflix's animated film KPop Demon Hunters has become not only one of the platform's most successful titles, but a shockingly successful new franchise in the music world. The film's corresponding soundtrack grows in terms of total consumption every week, and the original songs penned for the K-pop musical have reached beyond those who identify as fans of the South Korean musical genre and have now hit the ears of the American public at large. This week, KPop Demon Hunters manages a historic feat on one of Billboard's most important tallies — one which helps even a fictitious group stand apart as incredibly successful. 'Golden' Hits No. 1 on the Hot 100 The No. 1 song in America at the moment is 'Golden,' featured in KPop Demon Hunters. The track is credited to the made-up girl group Huntr/x, which was created for the movie. Also named on the tune are the three actual human vocalists who voiced the smash, Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami. Less than two months into its time on the Hot 100, 'Golden' lifts from No. 2 to No. 1, and in doing so makes history. 'Golden' is one of fewer than 10 K-pop tracks to rule the Hot 100. Before this frame, no girl group from that genre had ever led the charge, nor any female soloist in the K-pop space. BTS, Jimin and Jung Kook While a handful of different credited acts from the K-pop sphere have reached No. 1, they're all connected. BTS was the first K-pop name to reach the highest rung on the Hot 100. The septet — easily the biggest in the history of the style — has racked up half a dozen champions, including 'Dynamite,' 'Butter,' 'Permission to Dance,' 'Life Goes On,' as well as 'Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat),' a collaboration with Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo, and 'My Universe,' a duet with Coldplay. Two members of BTS have also hit No. 1 on their own. First came Jimin, with 'Like Crazy,' and then months later, Jung Kook repeated the showing alongside rapper Latto with 'Seven.' Both ruled in 2023 with solo smashes. 'Golden' Remains a Sales and Streaming Win The Hot 100 is compiled using a methodology that blends sales, streams, and radio airplay to show which songs are being consumed at the greatest levels throughout the United States. 'Golden' is steady at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs tally, and this frame it jumps from No. 5 to No. 3 on the Digital Song Sales list, hitting a new high point. Luminate reports that in the past tracking week in America, 'Golden' sold a little more than 6,200 copies, up 35% from the period prior. 'Golden' Grows at American Radio The KPop Demon Hunters track also once again leads both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S., as it has now ranked as the biggest song in the world on and off for several frames. In America, the tune is quickly growing at radio, although it has yet to land on Billboard's Radio Songs tally. This frame, in its third turn on the Pop Airplay chart, 'Golden' rockets from No. 28 to No. 20. At the same time, it opens at No. 37 on the Adult Pop Airplay list.
