Surinder Khanna Criticises Ravindra Jadeja's Lack of Aggression: 'Be A Hero...'

Last Updated: Surinder Khanna criticized Ravindra Jadeja for lacking aggression on Day 5 of the third Test against England. Despite Jadeja's unbeaten 61, India lost by 22 runs. Former India wicket-keeper batter Surinder Khanna believes that Ravindra Jadeja should have shown more aggression on Day 5 of the third Test between India and England, following the visitors' narrow 22-run defeat at Lord's. While chasing a target of 193, India's top and middle order struggled against the unpredictable bounce on the pitch, leaving Jadeja with a daunting task as the team found themselves at 82/7. Jadeja then played a determined innings, scoring an unbeaten 61 off 181 deliveries, but ultimately couldn't lead India to victory. In a conversation with IANS, Khanna shared his thoughts, saying that Jadeja's knock will not be remembered as he could not become a hero. 'We don't have a batter that can bat with tailenders. Once he was set, maybe he could have scored more runs. I think he will be thinking that he could have made more strokes. When the ball gets soft, Bumrah, Siraj will not be scoring runs; you have to win the match and be a hero. People will forget this 60 (61) not out," said Khanna. India now trails the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 1-2 and faces an uphill battle to win the series. Despite Washington Sundar's impressive second innings bowling, dismissing Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Jamie Smith, Khanna believes Kuldeep Yadav should be considered for the fourth Test. 'These scores are tricky; when the score is higher, you are more careful. One needs to give credit to England; they brought in Archer and executed what they planned. There was very little to take away from both sides," Khanna said. 'We can't be rigid; yes, Sundar got important wickets, but I feel Kuldeep Yadav can be a better bet. I always feel that the way the wicket reacts in the fourth innings, Kuldeep can be effective," Khanna added. At Lord's, following England's first-innings post of 387 runs, India delivered a powerful response by matching England's score exactly. This remarkable event represented only the ninth occasion in the annals of Test cricket that opposing sides had finished their first innings with precisely the same number of runs. Subsequently, India's bowling attack executed a precise display in the second innings, dismissing England for a total of 192. Washington Sundar was the standout performer, securing four vital wickets and establishing an achievable chase for the touring Indian team. Commencing the final day's play at 58/4, India struggled against England's consistently accurate fast bowlers, finding themselves eight wickets down by lunch. Yet, Ravindra Jadeja stayed defiant, compiling a courageous and splendid 61 not out from 181 balls, building determined, patient partnerships of 30, 35, and 23 with Nitish Reddy, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj, respectively, to edge India closer. Even with the maximum effort from Jadeja and the tail-enders, India ultimately fell painfully shy of a stunning win, getting dismissed for 170 after facing 74.5 overs. ENG vs IND U-19, 1st Youth Test: Vaibhav Suryavanshi scores fifty as India Under-19 establishes lead of 229 runs at Stumps on Day 3

Vaibhav Suryavanshi made a quick half-century to help India Under-19 reach 128 for three in its second innings and extend its dominance over England on the third day of the four-day Youth Test on Monday. India now has an overall lead of 229 runs as Suryavanshi's 56 off 44 balls led the side's charge with the bat. Vihaan Malhotra (34) and Abhigyan Kundu (0) were in the middle at close. Suryavanshi and skipper Ayush Mhatre gave India a flying start, adding 77 runs in 12 overs, before the latter fell to off-spinner Archie Vaughan, son of former England skipper Michael. Earlier, England U-19, resuming from overnight 230 for five, reached 439 to cut India's first innings lead to 101 runs. Late-order batters Thomas Rew (34), Ekansh Singh (59), Ralphie Albert (50), Jack Home (44) and James Minto (20) contributed to the host's rally. Rew and Ekansh added 80 runs for the sixth wicket as England went close to the 400-run mark, which it eventually went past after Home and Minto put on 48 runs for the ninth wicket.

‘Thala for a reason': labrador turns wicketkeeper in gully cricket match; wins internet's heart

There's something irresistibly heartwarming about dogs. They have this effortless ability to turn everyday moments into something special. Be it chasing their own tails or just snoozing in the sun, their charm is unmatched. But when a dog decides to join in on a gully cricket match? That's when the internet truly loses it. A viral video from X is doing the rounds, and it stars none other than a labrador that has taken wicket-keeping to an entirely new level. In the clip, the dog is seen crouched neatly behind the stumps, fully locked in like a pro, tail wagging, eyes fixed on the ball. As the bowler steams in and the batsman either leaves or blocks, our four-legged keeper springs into action, either attempting to catch the ball or dashing off after it. In just 14 seconds, the dog wins everyone over. Across three deliveries, it either collects the ball with surprising finesse or races to retrieve it, and the dog's enthusiasm is infectious. When the batsman finally smacks a six, the dog runs toward the bowler as if to offer moral support. One viewer hilariously noted, 'He even went to talk to the bowler after being hit for a six.' Mahendra Singh Dogesh bhai 😎 (Cricket samaj me Darr ka mahol hai💀} — Aditya Tiwari ❤️👻 (@aditiwari9111) July 15, 2025 With over 80,000 views already, the comments are pure gold. Someone wrote, 'Ahh never thought of this idea, even our dog loved catching the ball,' while another hailed him as the 'Best Wicket Keeper'. And of course, no viral Indian moment is complete without a cheeky Thala reference: 'Dogesh has 6 words 6+1=7 .. thala for a reason.' This isn't the first time a dog's human-like antics have stolen the show online. Another clip doing the rounds shows a golden retriever patiently waiting next to a fruit vendor, seemingly collecting his daily 'fruit tax' just for being adorable.
