NFL coaches, executives name Jets' Garrett Wilson among top-10 receivers in NFL
The No. 10 overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Jets signed Wilson to a four-year, $130 million extension. The former Ohio State wideout has plenty of reason to celebrate.
ESPN has been releasing their top-10 positional rankings daily ahead of training camp. The wide receivers list was published earlier this week. Wilson made the cut, clocking in at No. 10 overall.
"Wilson makes his top-10 debut after three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, beating Terry McLaurin, Puka Nacua and Brian Thomas Jr. for the final spot in this ranking," Jeremy Fowler wrote. "On talent, he's unquestionably a top-10 player. The way he slithers in and out of routes with elite flexibility is Justin Jefferson lite."
"He's one of the best separators in the league," an AFC executive said.
Wilson recorded 101 receptions for 1,104 yards and seven touchdowns in 2024. Despite catching passes from nearly a dozen quarterbacks in three seasons, Wilson has been the definition of consistency in East Rutherford, posting three consecutive 1,000-yard campaigns.
"He has produced in suboptimal circumstances," an NFL general manager said. "He would only grow in stature in another system more friendly to his skill set."

NI's Burrows given 16-game ban for alleged assault
Cliftonville captain Kelsie Burrows has been handed a 16-match ban for an alleged assault on a match official. The Northern Ireland international was shown a red card by referee Simon Bickerstaff after the Reds' 2-0 win against Glentoran Women on 25 July. The suspension is effective immediately and covers all competitions but it is understood that the club are appealing against the decision, which means Burrows will be available to play in Friday's Premiership game against Crusaders Strikers. Team coach Brendan Lynch has been handed a three-match ban from the same game for "entering the field of play to confront a match official". The incident came after the final whistle of the victory over Glentoran, which put Cliftonville right in the mix at the top of the table as they currently sit six points off leaders Linfield with two games in hand. As for McLaurin, his potential arrival could turn the Steelers into a dark horse to win the NFC North if their key players on offense stay healthy and play up to the expected potential.
