Patriots' renovated WR room gets destroyed in PFF rankings
Despite the additions of four-time Pro Bowler Stefon Diggs, veteran Mack Hollins and promising rookie Kyle Williams, the Patriots were still ranked as 31st out of 32 NFL teams. Only the Cleveland Browns ranked worse than the Patriots on the list.
PFF's Trevor Sikkema wrote:
"It's almost a completely new group of receiving weapons in New England, making it difficult to truly assess the state of the team's receiving corps.
Stefon Diggs was once the NFL's second-highest-graded receiver (90.6 PFF receiving grade in 2020) but is coming off a major knee injury. Mack Hollins was a solid but unspectacular receiver for the Bills in 2024, averaging only 1.04 yards per route run (95th out of 112 qualifiers). Kyle Williams, Javon Baker, Ja'Lynn Polk and Demario Douglas will fight for the final receiver roster spots."
The Patriots clearly hope to be better than they were last season.
Along with the additions of Diggs, Hollins and Williams, they are also returning players that might make a difference, such as Demario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte and Kendrick Bourne. There are also hopes that second-year wideouts Ja'Lynn Polk and Javon Baker might finally break out.
The team also has to feel optimistic about the early practices from undrafted rookie Efton Chism III, who could be a dark horse roster hopeful in training camp.
Even if this ranking feels too low for the Patriots, they still need to go out on the field and prove people wrong in 2025. The better they perform, the more people will start believing.

Ohio State football well-represented at the top of PFF's Top 50 college football players
Pro Football Focus (PFF) has made a big splash on the American football season over the last few years with its analytics-driven data to measure players' performances, snap counts, and more. And while the name "Pro" is in name, PFF also dabbles a ton in the college game. The site and its tools have become very popular, as have some of the articles and rankings that it has shared with the masses. Recently, PFF ranked the top 50 players in college football, and anytime a list like that is circulated, you know Ohio State has to be well represented. In this case, heading into the fall of 2025, it's not quantity, but quality when it comes to Buckeyes on the list, especially after they sent 14 players to the NFL via the draft last April. Advertisement All told, Ohio State has just two players in the top 50 according to PFF, which falls behind teams like Alabama, Penn State, and Texas (five each), but the two that it has can claim something no other school can. OSU has the two best players in the college game according to PFF, with receiver Jeremiah Smith leading the pack, followed by safety Caleb Downs at No. 2. Come to think of it, that mirrors what EA Sports says about Ohio State's roster. It also ranked the duo as the two best players in the game in that same order. And PFF and EA Sports aren't the only outlets claiming that Ohio State has the two best players in the game; it's almost everywhere you look. NFL, Texans and Cowboys pledge $1.5M collectively to communities impacted by Texas floods
The NFL, Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans have together pledged to collectively donate $1.5 million to the communities impacted by the flooding in Central Texas as the death toll reached nearly 70 on Sunday. The NFL announced the donation before Texas officials shared an update that they had received "unconfirmed reports of another wall of water" forming, prompting more evacuations. "The National Football League's two Texas-based teams - the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans - are uniting with the NFL Foundation to support the victims' families and survivors of the heartbreaking floods in central Texas," the league's statement read. "Together they will contribute $1.5 million to provide both immediate assistance and long-term resources to those most impacted by the catastrophic flooding." The Texans first announced plans to donate $500,000 on Saturday, adding the donation will provide support and resources for the communities "impacted by the devastating flooding." "We are heartbroken by the loss and damage that our neighbors in the Texas Hill Country have endured. We are especially devastated to hear about the children who are still missing, and we are praying they are reunited with their families soon," the statement continued. "Our hearts will remain with everyone affected and, in addition to our donation, we will continue to support the search, rescue and recovery efforts in the coming weeks." On Sunday, the Cowboys announced they would match the donation. "Our hearts are heavy as we witness the devastation and loss of life caused by the floods in Kerr County and Texas Hill Country, especially for the young girls and their families, as well as all of those lost and their loved ones. This has been devastating to see and we hold everyone impacted in our thoughts and prayers. Standing side by side with The Salvation Army's critical response, we are also donating $500,000 to provide immediate resources for rescue, relief and long term recovery efforts." Over a dozen campers were confirmed dead as of Sunday afternoon, Kerr County officials said. One counselor and 11 campers remained unaccounted for while the death toll across Central Texas climbed to nearly 70 on Sunday.
