Should Boston Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla worry about Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau's firing?
Should Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla be worried about the firing of New York Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau? The Knicks front office recently came to the decision that it was time to move on from Thibs despite the former Boston assistant coach having gotten New York farther than they have been in the playoffs for the last quarter-century. Mazzulla, for his part, saw his Celtics fall to the Knicks on their way to the 2025 NBA Eastern Conference Finals series many assumed Boston was a shoo-in to make at the start of the postseason.
If the now-former Knicks coach is not safe, does that mean Mazzulla could also be at risk of losing his job? Or is this move by New York more indicative of their internal culture and lack of patience, and less of the league more generally?
The folks behind the "NESN" YouTube channel put together a clip from their "Boston has Entered the Chat" show to talk it over. Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say.

Yankees' Anthony Volpe leaves game, has X-rays on elbow after getting hit by pitch

NEW YORK — The New York Yankees are holding their breath. Shortstop Anthony Volpe went for X-rays and a CT scan on his left elbow after he was hit by a pitch and left Friday night's game vs. the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. Volpe had a bruise on his elbow, the team added. Red Sox starting pitcher Walker Buehler hit Volpe with an errant 89-mph changeup on a 2-2 count with the bases loaded and the Yankees ahead, 6-0, in the second inning. It scored Paul Goldschmidt. Volpe, who homered in the first inning, was clearly in pain, doubling over twice. Yankees manager Aaron Boone and a team trainer visited with him while he stood on first base, but he stayed in the game and rain the bases. Volpe is staying in the game — Talkin' Yanks (@TalkinYanks) June 7, 2025 Volpe didn't leave until the top of the fourth inning when Oswald Peraza took over for him on defense. Losing Volpe would be a blow to the Yankees, who have enjoyed his uptick in offensive production. He entered Friday with a career-best 110 OPS+, hitting .237 with seven homers, 34 RBIs and a .745 OPS in 60 games. Volpe's most likely replacement, Peraza, is considered a strong defender but hasn't hit in the majors (65 OPS+ career).
