Anyone who takes showers urged to use washing up liquid
While supermarkets and homeware shops are full to brim with pricey products promising a squeaky clean bathroom, from shower shines to grout busters, they all pale in comparison with the power of good old washing up liquid. Cleaning experts have revealed that a simple bottle of Fairy liquid (or any other brand) can quickly bring back the gleam to your weary shower screen, reports the Express.
Rather than forking out for an expensive or harsh chemical cleaner, a trusty washing up liquid is all you need according to the bathroom appliance pros at Flair Showers.
They said: "It's tried and tested and impossible to beat. Washing up liquid is the go-to option for making your shower door sparkle.
"Mix one tablespoon of washing-up liquid (a little goes a long way) with approx. 10 litres of water."
"You want a relatively thin, non-viscous mix. The solution will clean your shower door exceptionally well and it'll even reduce the amount of arm power required too."
For achieving a streak-free finish on your shower door, coupling a washing up liquid mixture with a squeegee works wonders.
They explained: "Great for avoiding streaks, they clean large areas quickly, making it easy to use daily, and let's be honest, they're super satisfying to use too."
Adding that while it may seem unusual, a squeegee is versatile: "While a squeegee might look a bit out of place in the bathroom, it can be used on mirrors, glass and around the rest of the house too. An essential tool for any home."
For an alternative approach, rubbing a lemon across the shower door can also achieve a fresh and clean finish.
Flair explained the benefits of using citrus in cleaning routines: "Cleaning with a simple lemon is a great way to get rid of soap scum and hard water stains. The acid in the lemon will break down the build-up of any residue. Simply cut a lemon in half and rub it in circular motions onto the glass.
"Once you have finished rinse the glass with water and wipe it down with a squeegee or microfiber cloth. Not only is it economical, but it's also environmentally friendly."

Use this simple kitchen staple to ensure rats never invade your garden again
Any homeowner or gardening enthusiast will be horrified when unwanted visitors like rats invade their gardens. These rodents wreak havoc on plants, spread disease, and generally make people feel uncomfortable. With their massive populations, rats become the most prevalent creatures you'll encounter in your garden or even inside your home. Whilst bird feeders don't directly create rat infestations, if a rat views your garden as a dependable source of secure food, it may decide to outstay its welcome - something one gardener has discovered firsthand. Posting on the Facebook group Garden Makeover Ideas On A Budget, member Tina Hill asked: "Does anyone have any tips to deter or stop rats from coming into my garden. I really love my bird feeder and really don't want to get rid of it, but I also don't want more rats in my garden." The most popular recommendation to repel rats that "never fails" was using chilli powder. Theresa Dawson explained: "Chilli powder in with the bird food, mammals can taste it, but birds can't. I use it to stop rats and squirrels.", reports the Express. The most common suggestion to keep rats away that "never fails" was to use chilli powder (Image: Getty) Susan Roles remarked: "They don't like chilli powder, and I found that birds don't mind it." Dorie Thomas suggested: "Make it impossible for them to eat your bird feed by adding in a sprinkling of chilli powder. "I added chilli powder to areas of my garden and they never came back. They were eating my herbs." The experts at the pest control blog Rentokil suggest using chilli powder as well. They stated: "Rats are not fans of spicy scents. Chilli pepper flakes, cayenne pepper powder, or even a strong chilli oil can irritate their respiratory systems. "Sprinkling these spices around entry points, like air bricks, pipe entries, or under sheds, can create a barrier. Reapply after wet weather for continued protection." The professionals at Enviro Safe Pest Control also endorse this natural deterrent. They asserted: "Chilli is known to irritate the respiratory tract of the rats when inhaled. Simply sprinkle the chilli powder in the rat-infested areas. When the rodents smell and ingest chilli powder, they won't return to the same area." How to make Mary Berry's chicken pasta bake Ingredients 250g of penne pasta 100g of parmesan cheese 50g plain flour 50g of butter (plus extra for greasing) 750ml of hot milk Three skinless boneless chicken breasts Two large tomatoes One onion One tablespoon of Dijon mustard One tablespoon of paprika Two tablespoons of olive oil Salt and pepper Kitchen equipment needed A shallow ovenproof dish Pot Large frying pan Sandwich bag Slotted spoon Method To begin, preheat the oven to 220C (200C Fan or Gas 7) then butter your ovenproof dish. Roughly chop up the onion and place it in a pot of boiling salted water along with the penne pasta. Cook the pasta following the packet instructions then drain, rinse with cold water and set aside for now. Cut the chicken breasts into thin strips and place in a sandwich bag along with the paprika seasoning and some salt and pepper, then shake to coat. Add one tablespoon of olive oil to a frying pan and quickly cook the chicken on high heat for two minutes until golden brown and just cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the chicken to a plate and set aside for now. To make the pasta sauce, melt the butter in the frying pan, add the flour and mix thoroughly for one minute on a high heat. Gradually add the hot milk and keep mixing until you have a smooth thick sauce.
