St. Thomas Police investigating body found in gully
The St. Thomas Police Service (STPS) is investigating after a body was found in the gully off Elmina Street on Monday morning.
Detectives and the Forensic Identification team are on scene, stationed off an access path used for storm drains.

Police have closed Elmina Street at Hemlock to the north side of the ravine, and at Oak Street on the south side while they conduct the investigation.
'The investigation is still in its early stages, and at this point there is no ID,' says Samantha Wakefield, STPS communications coordinator.
'Officers are currently on scene investigating the cause.'

A man who owns the property and the gully tells CTV News that there is sometimes people living in the ravine, but didn't hear anything suspicious recently.
Police say there is no threat to public safety and are asking the public to avoid the area.

A northern Ontario man was fined $1,800 after pleading guilty to breaking the 21-day rule for camping on Crown land. Michael Cox of Atikokan overstayed his welcome after leaving his camper trailer in the same spot for at least six weeks at Williamson Lake in northwestern Ontario last year. Conservation officers first noted the trailer at the lake's landing on May 14, 2023. 'The trailer was noted to be in the same location on multiple occasions until it was removed on June 25, 2023, after Cox had been contacted,' the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry said in a news release Feb. 16. The guilty plea was entered Nov. 17 in a hearing held by Justice of the Peace Nancy Tulloch in Atikokan. 'Canadian residents can camp for free on Crown land for up to 21 days at one site in a calendar year, unless the site has been restricted for a specific reason,' the ministry said in a June 13, 2019 bulletin. 'After 21 days, the person and camping equipment must move a minimum of 100 meters to another location.' Campers from outside of Canada are required to purchase a Crown land camping permit which costs $9.35 per person per day plus HST.

Saskatchewan motorist facing 14 charges after fleeing police on northern Ont. highway

Ontario Provincial Police responded to multiple calls about an erratic driver heading eastbound on Highway 17 near Three Finger Lake on Aug. 4 shortly before 11:30 a.m. Officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver allegedly left the highway and entered a forested area, using ATV trails in an attempt to evade police. The suspect was apprehended shortly afterwards when he exited the trails.
