Rep: People's well-being remains SUPP's top priority
KUCHING (June 24): The Sarawak United Peoples' Party (SUPP) Kota Sentosa Branch remains committed to bringing about people-centric development to the constituents of the Kota Sentosa seat, said its assemblyman Wilfred Yap.
He said drainage systems, road safety, and public facilities had been improved through various initiatives, including allocations from the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).
'We continue to work tirelessly to uplift the standard of living and infrastructure in our area, including support for schools and community organisations,' he said during the Parent's Day dinner organised by the SUPP Kota Sentosa Women Section on Sunday.
Yap noted that the progress witnessed in Kota Sentosa today was not by chance, but the result of sustained effort, careful planning, and the solid foundation laid by the leaders and pioneers of SUPP.
'Their sacrifices and contributions deserve deepest gratitude and continued recognition,' he added.
'As current leaders, members and supporters, it is our shared responsibility to carry this legacy forward with unity and determination.
'We must remain focused on delivering meaningful progress, enhancing quality of life, and ensuring a better future for all residents of Kota Sentosa.'
He also expressed appreciation to the Women Section for organising the event, which he believed held deep meaning and significance for the local community.
The event, he said, served as a timely reminder of the invaluable role parents play in shaping the lives of their children and nurturing responsible citizens.
'The values embodied by parents—care, sacrifice, responsibility, and unconditional love—are the very principles that SUPP stands for in our service to the people.
'Just as parents prioritise the well-being of their children, we in SUPP Kota Sentosa have consistently placed the needs and interests of our constituents first,' said Yap.

Sibu's longest covered walkway at SJK (C) Rejang Park to be completed next month
Tiang (right) checks on the 125-meter pedestrian walkway between Rejang Park Traffic Garden and SJK (C) Rejang Park, which will be upgraded into a covered walkway. SIBU (Aug 10): The 125-metre pedestrian walkway between SJK (C) Rejang Park and Rejang Park Traffic Garden will soon be upgraded into a covered walkway to protect students from the elements. State Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government (Public Health and Housing) Datuk Michael Tiang said the RM200,000 project, funded under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), is expected to be completed next month. 'Students will no longer be exposed to the sun or rain,' he said during a visit to the school yesterday. Tiang noted that many parents currently park at the Rejang Park Traffic Garden – near the public restroom – during school drop-off and pick-up times to avoid traffic congestion outside the school. Their children then use the existing pedestrian walkway to get to and from school. 'I believe the most serious congestion happens during school let-off, when both the Rejang Park Traffic Garden car park and the roadside near the school are packed with vehicles picking up children. 'This is why many parents choose to park at the Traffic Garden (near the public toilet) and wait for their children to walk over from the school,' said Pelawan assemblyman. He added that on hot days, students have to endure the blazing sun, and during downpours, those without umbrellas must dash through the rain to reach their parents – often a heart-wrenching sight. Parts of the current walkway are also uneven, posing safety hazards. 'As a parent myself, I want children to be spared from the sun and rain. Moreover, as the Pelawan assemblyman, I decided to allocate RM200,000 from the RTP to build this covered walkway, which is expected to be completed in September,' he said. Once completed, he said, it will be the longest covered walkway in Sibu, serving as a new landmark that connects the school with the surrounding community. longest covered walkway Michael Tiang RTP Sibu SJK (C) Rejang Park

New perimeter fence boosts safety at SK Agama Bintulu, says rep
Pang engages with a group of pupils during his visit to the school field. BINTULU (July 31): The completion of a new perimeter fence around the multipurpose field at Sekolah Kebangsaan Agama Bintulu marks a significant step in enhancing the safety and recreational environment for its pupils, said Johnny Pang. The Tanjong Batu assemblyman noted that the fencing now allows pupils to engage in outdoor activities with greater peace of mind, reducing the risk of balls straying beyond the field and minimising safety concerns. Pang, who visited the school yesterday alongside officers from the Public Works Department (JKR), inspected the completed project and engaged with the school management to discuss additional needs. 'This school has served our community for nearly three decades, and many of its facilities are showing signs of wear. 'I remain committed to supporting upgrades through the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP),' he said. He added that the next development phase, namely the cement paving of the central courtyard, will begin soon to provide a more spacious and functional area for school activities. Pang also highlighted plans for additional upgrades, including the installation of anti-slip tiles and construction of covered walkways, to improve overall safety and comfort for both pupils and teachers. johnny pang lead perimeter fence SK Agama Bintulu
