In a review held at the Secretariat, Naidu directed officials to organise special recognition events on July 21 in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur, Tirupati, and Rajamahendravaram—five cities lauded under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Emphasising the reduction of single-use plastic, Naidu instructed officials to involve self-help groups (SHGs) in manufacturing biodegradable bags and make all government offices plastic-free. The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to building a circular, zero-waste economy driven by sustainable innovation.
Swachhandhra Corporation Chairman Kommareddy Pattabhiram presented a pilot Swachh Ratham project from Lalpuram, Guntur, where residents receive utility goods in exchange for dry waste. Naidu asked for a detailed report to scale it statewide.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Municipal Minister Ponguru Narayana announced eight new waste-to-energy plants across Andhra Pradesh, aiming to process 6,000 tons of the 6,500 tons of daily waste.
Plants in Nellore and Kakinada are in the final stages, while new units are planned in Vijayawada and Tirupati. Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) units will also be set up in rural areas, he added.

VIJAYAWADA: Investment proposals worth Rs 5,74,238 crore, related to 109 projects, were approved during the eight meetings of the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) held so far since the formation of the coalition government. These projects are expected to generate employment for around five lakh people. At the eighth SIPB meeting, chaired by CM N Chandrababu Naidu at his camp office on Thursday, investment proposals totalling Rs 39,473 crore were approved. These investments, linked to 22 projects, are projected to create 30,899 jobs. The investment proposals cleared by the SIPB are related to sectors like IT, food processing, energy, and tourism. Of these, 11 projects are in industries and commerce, 7 in the energy sector, 3 in tourism, and 1 each in IT and food processing. So far, under the coalition government, 8 SIPB meetings have approved 109 projects. These include 46 in the industrial sector, 41 in energy, 11 in tourism, 7 in IT, and 4 in food processing. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister emphasized the need to develop a symbiotic ecosystem around upcoming industrial projects in Andhra Pradesh, ensuring mutual benefit for industries, local communities, and associated institutions. He noted that such integrated development would not only accelerate industrial growth but also uplift surrounding regions through job creation and institutional linkages. Naidu directed officials to ensure the development of robust infrastructure-roads, ports, airports, and utilities-around all upcoming industrial projects in the state. He stressed that such infrastructure is vital for stimulating economic activity and earning the confidence of local communities and farmers. 'People will part with land only when they are convinced of tangible benefits,' he observed, highlighting the importance of companies adhering to project timelines. Addressing key sectors during the SIPB, meeting, the CM laid special emphasis on integrated planning for tourism development. He instructed officials to design tourism projects with a broader ecosystem approach, expanding activities beyond core attractions to encourage investments.

Andhra poised to be Swarna Andhra by 2047: CM Chandrababu Naidu
VIJAYAWADA: The Task Force report, 'Towards Swarna Andhra Pradesh @2047,' unveiled by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday, projected that Andhra Pradesh - endowed with the third-longest coastline in the country and one of the largest land banks - is undoubtedly at a comparative advantage in becoming one of the champions of the country's overall goal of achieving a USD 35 trillion economy over the next two decades. In 2014–15, the State's economy stood at USD 86 billion at current prices. By 2023–24, Andhra Pradesh's economy had more than doubled, reaching USD 174 billion. This significant growth was achieved despite the formidable challenges posed by the bifurcation in 2014. Looking ahead, while certain gaps remain to be addressed, the Task Force on Economic Development for Swarna Andhra Pradesh @2047 is confident that the State is well poised to take a leap toward achieving the vision of a 'Swarna Andhra Pradesh' by 2047. The report highlights that Andhra Pradesh has a diverse and multifaceted economy, enriched with natural resources and a 1,053 km-long coastline that offers a strategic vantage point for the development of sectors such as renewables, the blue economy, and others. Fertile river plains support agriculture and allied activities, while the mineral-rich districts of Rayalaseema present ideal conditions for the growth of mineral-based industries. The report also notes that Andhra Pradesh is among the few Indian states with abundant land banks (50,573 acres), designated for industrial development. These land banks provide a strategic geographical advantage for the creation of sector-focused industrial zones, parks, and clusters. 'Coupled with ease, cost, and speed of doing business, the State offers an investor-friendly environment for both domestic and international players. Strategically positioned to lead India's transition to a sustainable economy, AP holds immense potential to attract significant investments for developing a robust manufacturing ecosystem in green hydrogen and green ammonia. It also has the capacity to emerge as a leader in solar and wind energy,' the report stated.

Efforts on to make govt offices plastic-free: CS
Vijayawada: Chief secretary K Vijayanand announced that the state government is taking decisive steps to make all government offices plastic-free. During a video conference with district collectors and officials on Thursday, he discussed key initiatives, including the Swarnandhra P-4 Foundation, Swachhandhra, MSME parks, Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, and population management. Vijayanand stressed a phased approach to control single-use plastics, with a goal to declare all 17 municipal corporations plastic-free by October. He directed officials to ban plastic items in government offices statewide and launch extensive public awareness campaigns about the environmental harm caused by single-use plastics, particularly air and water pollution. He urged district collectors to engage plastic manufacturers to ensure compliance and promote eco-friendly alternatives. The Swarnandhra P-4 Foundation, aimed at eradicating poverty and reducing economic disparities, was a key focus. The government has set a target to adopt 15 lakh Bangaru Kutumbams (golden families) by August 15. So far, 19.17 lakh Bangaru Kutumbams have been identified, with 5.2 lakh adopted by Margadarshis (mentors). Vijayanand stressed maintaining high standards in identifying families and mentors, urging collectors to ensure the program's success by encouraging financially capable Margadarshis to participate. On population management, Vijayanand described the population as an asset and highlighted the recent draft population policy. He instructed collectors to follow the policy's calendar of events to implement effective measures. Under the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, 1,027 villages have been selected as model villages, with 765 already declared under the Village Development Plan (VDP). The chief secretary directed collectors to expedite efforts to declare the remaining 262 villages as model villages. Each model village will receive a Rs 20 lakh gap-filling grant from the central government for infrastructure development, supplemented by additional funds through convergence, potentially reaching Rs 80 lakh per village. Collectors were urged to prioritise these efforts to enhance rural infrastructure. The chief secretary also discussed the MSME Parks and RAMP (Rising and Accelerating MSME Performance) programme, a centrally-sponsored scheme supported by the World Bank. He instructed collectors to ensure its effective implementation and promote circular economy clusters to foster sustainable industrial growth. Additionally, the conference explored the use of AI chatbot technology to enhance government employee efficiency, signaling a move toward digital innovation in governance. These initiatives reflect the state's commitment to environmental sustainability, poverty alleviation, and infrastructure development, with district collectors tasked to drive their successful execution.
