GOF Raids Sawmills Across Three States, Seizes Over RM97mln In Timber And Goods
Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Seri Azmi Abu Kassim said the first two phases of 'Op Sawmill', a targeted initiative under the broader 'Op Bersepadu Khazanah', involved raids on 18 premises namely two in Terengganu and 16 in Kelantan.
These led to the arrest of 53 individuals and the seizure of timber and equipment worth RM66.5 million.
Phase three, he said, covered 14 raids on seven premises in Pahang, and four each in Terengganu and Kelantan, with 45 more arrests and RM30.84 million in goods confiscated.
He added that 18 Malaysians had been released on bail, while 27 foreign nationals remained in custody. Those detained included six Myanmar nationals, seven Bangladeshis, 12 Indonesians, and one each from Nepal and India.
Azmi said 11 offences were identified during the operations, with investigations conducted under several laws, including the Immigration Act 1959/63, National Forestry Act 1984, Wood-Based Industries Enactment 1985, and the Minimum Standards of Housing, Accommodations and Employee Amenities Act.
He noted that while some premises held valid operating licences, several had breached legal conditions.
'In one case, early intelligence suggested non-compliance, but by the time of the raid, the operator had renewed their licence and rectified the issues, so no action was taken,' he said.

According to his mother, he was attacked by several pupils who held his arms and punched him in the face until he fell. 'I brought him to a private clinic, where X-rays confirmed the injuries. He was then referred to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Kuala Terengganu,' Bernama reported her as saying today. The boy, the second of three siblings, underwent surgery this morning to repair the nasal fracture. His mother said this was not the first time that he had been bullied. In June, he suffered an eye injury after being hit with a rock, but no police report was lodged at the time. However, following the latest incident, she said she had decided to take legal action. The mother also said the school met with the parents of the pupils involved on Monday to discuss the matter. Kuala Terengganu police chief Azli Noor confirmed receiving a report, and said a preliminary investigation suggested that the incident stemmed from teasing among the pupils. 'The case has been referred to the school management and the Kuala Terengganu education office for further action,' he said.

Penang police warn against flag-related gathering in Kepala Batas
GEORGE TOWN: Penang police have advised the public against attending a gathering at a Kepala Batas hardware store tomorrow. The store recently went viral on social media for displaying the Jalur Gemilang upside down. Penang Police Chief Datuk Azizee Ismail emphasised the need to ensure public safety and order. He urged patience while awaiting further instructions from the Public Prosecutor's Office. Azizee warned that legal action would be taken against those disrupting peace or violating laws. A viral social media post had earlier invited the public to join the gathering. Azizee confirmed 38 police reports had been filed nationwide regarding the incident. Investigations are ongoing under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. The hardware store owner, Pang Chin Tian, admitted the flag mishap was unintentional. Immigration busts forgery ring and illegal massage ops in KL
KUALA LUMPUR: The Immigration Department has cracked down on a document forgery syndicate and illegal massage operations in separate raids across the city. A total of 24 foreign nationals were arrested in the operations, which also uncovered cash and equipment linked to the illegal activities. In Taman Maluri, 19 men were detained for allegedly producing fake electronic Temporary Employment Visit Pass (e-PLKS) slips. The suspects included 16 Bangladeshis and three Myanmar nationals, all aged between 18 and 43. The syndicate reportedly operated under the guise of phone repair and convenience stores, charging RM100 per forged slip. Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban stated the group had likely been active for around a year. Two of the arrested Bangladeshis were overstayers, while most detainees lacked valid travel documents. Authorities seized RM11,357 in cash, fake e-PLKS slips, passports, laptops, printers, and CCTV cameras during the raid. The suspects are being held at the Putrajaya Immigration Depot for further investigation. In a separate operation in Sri Petaling, five foreigners were arrested for running illegal massage services. The group included one Thai national and four Myanmar men, all targeting male customers. RM3,101 in suspected earnings, promotional materials, and payment QR codes were confiscated. The Thai suspect held a Social Visit Pass, while the Myanmar nationals were undocumented. Zakaria revealed the illegal massage service had operated for four months in unlicensed spa centres. Two local men have been issued notices to assist with the ongoing investigations. - Bernama
