Beyoncé's real 'Levii's Jeans' are ready for purchase: How to shop Levi's collab

USA Today07-08-2025
Beyoncé's latest collab is here, and it's denim on denim on denim.
The freshly christened country music superstar released a new line of jeans in partnership with iconic denim house Levi's on Aug. 7, offering fans a chance to sport styles designed by Queen Bey herself.
The collaboration – which includes several pairs of rhinestone-embroidered, lightwash pants and some trucker jackets – draws inspiration from the singer's most recent album, "Cowboy Carter," a soulful sojourn into the country music genre and the complicated history of America.
Dubbed "The Denim Cowboy," the collection was advertised with a western-inspired video promo, set to the tune of Beyoncé's "Levii's Jeans," a mid-album ode to the stiff and worn fabric that clings to the curvature of a body. As part of the collab, fans can buy graphic T-shirts with the denim company's name spelled "Levii's" in tribute to the track featuring Post Malone.
Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle jeans ad sparks controversy: Here's why

Collab comes amid Sydney Sweeney American Eagles jeans ad controversy
The collection arrives against the backdrop of a contentious conversation about denim advertisements.
Last month, actress Sydney Sweeney released an ad in partnership with American Eagle for a line of jeans that many critics lambasted.
In one of several videos for the campaign, Sweeney, tells cameras, "Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color."
The Age of the Rhinestone Cowgirl: How Beyoncé brings glitz to the Wild Wild West
"My jeans are blue," she continued, with jeans doing double duty as the camera panned across both her true blue denim fit and her blue eyes. Critics argued that the use of Sweeney, a white, thin, blonde woman with blue eyes, as the archetype of "good genes" bordered on eugenic thinking, contributing to a well-worn glorification of whiteness in the beauty industry.
American Eagle later commented on the controversy, saying: "'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans' is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story. We'll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone."
That the controversy stemmed from a denim ad, and one from a company with "American" in the name, further complicated the reception. Americana and denim have always gone hand in hand.
Beyoncé's campaign, however, offers an entirely different image, casting a Black woman as the cowboy and queen of the American West, winning in smoky pool joints and catching eyes at her local laundromat.

Halsey Steals the Show in Modern Western Film ‘Americana,' Also Starring Sydney Sweeney and Eric Dane

In this zany Western caper, Mandy (Halsey), plays a down-and-out woman living in a double-wide with an abusive boyfriend, Dillon (Eric Dane), near a reservation in South Dakota. After Dillon steals a Ghost Shirt, a sacred Lakota Indian artifact, Mandy conks him on the head and steals the valuable garment, convinced it'll pay for her ticket out of town. But she's not the only one with dreams of a new life — Penny Joe (Sydney Sweeney, playing against type as a mousy waitress at the local diner), recruits a lonely rancher (Paul Walter Hauser) to help her steal the stolen shirt from Mandy to finance her ambition of making it big in Nashville. But then Mandy's young son, Cal (Gavin Maddox Bergman), who's so obsessed with Native American culture he's convinced he's the reincarnation of Sitting Bull, alerts two thugs from the local tribe, Ghost Eye (Zahn McClarnon) and Hank Spears (Derek Hinkey) about the theft of their tribal treasure and they also join the chase. But the biggest robbery is committed by Halsey, who in her first major movie role steals the show with her poignant but madcap performance, which only escalates the hilarious Tarantino-esque high jinks of the thieves thieving from thieves. The novel characters and convoluted plot make Americana worth seeing at the cineplex. | In theaters Friday, Aug. 15 R Solve the daily Crossword

Sydney Sweeney's best movies, ranked. Does 'Americana' make the list?

Sydney Sweeney has great scenes. When she's not launching culture wars with her eyebrow-raising American Eagle denim ads or her controversial used bathwater soaps, Sweeney, 27, is among the most in-demand young actresses working in Hollywood. The Spokane, Washington, native cut her teeth in pulpy horror movies such as 'Nocturne' and 'The Voyeurs,' and gained impressive TV cred in acclaimed dramas 'The Handmaid's Tale' and 'Sharp Objects.' But it was her highly memeable turns in HBO's 'Euphoria' and 'The White Lotus' that made her a two-time Emmy-nominated force, which she followed with 2023's rom-com megahit 'Anyone But You,' co-starring fellow rising star (and speculated paramour) Glen Powell. With public interest higher than ever, the toothsome Sweeney is headed into the biggest movie season of her career so far, with high-profile roles in Ron Howard's survival thriller 'Eden' (in theaters Aug. 22) and book adaptation 'The Housemaid' (in theaters Christmas Day). She also transforms into boxer Christy Martin for biopic 'Christy,' premiering at Toronto Film Festival in September. Join our Watch Party! Sweeney plays a meek diner waitress named Penny Jo, who dreams of becoming a country singer and gets caught up in a bloody battle for a pricey Native American relic. The actress struggles to find her footing in the messy genre mashup, speaking with an exaggerated stammer and failing to light sparks with Paul Walter Hauser as the infatuated Lefty. "Americana" may be yet another misstep for Sweeney, although she does have at least a few gems in her limited filmography. Here are her best movies, ranked: 5. 'Under the Silver Lake' (2018) Sweeney doesn't have much screen time in "Under the Silver Lake," a surreal dark comedy following Andrew Garfield as he searches for his missing neighbor (Riley Keough). The actress affably plays a flirtatious model whom Garfield encounters at a graveyard party, donning bedazzled makeup a year before "Euphoria" made it a mainstream trend. Here's why: Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle jeans ad sparks controversy 4. 'Madame Web' (2024) Sweeney hasn't had many opportunities to show off her range, and her performances are often painfully stilted ('Anyone But You') or wildly overwrought ("Echo Valley"). But her flat intonation and vocal fry are perfectly suited to Marvel's campy critical misfire, playing a demure yet powerful teenager who's taken under the wing of Dakota Johnson's equally spacey Cassie. We're still not over her delivery of, "You saved my stepmother, then you were super-awkward about it." 3. 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' (2019) Quentin Tarantino's love letter to Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) and 1960s Los Angeles is far and away the best film on Sweeney's resumé. Unlike her now-famous co-stars Mikey Madison, Austin Butler and Margaret Qualley, Sweeney doesn't have much to do as Snake, one of the feral flower children living with Charles Manson (Damon Herriman). Still, she has a beguiling presence and fits the earthy, subtly menacing vibe of Manson's ranch dwellers. 2. 'Immaculate' (2024) Similarly to 'Madame Web,' Sweeney knows exactly what kind of movie she's in and completely nails the outrageous, deadpan tone. Here she portrays a wide-eyed novitiate who gets trapped at a creepy Italian convent after becoming pregnant with a child the other nuns believe to be the second coming of Jesus Christ. The up-and-comer goes all in as the film careens toward its gleefully gory finale, proving her scream queen bona fides with a commanding, vanity-free performance. 1. 'Reality' (2023) Sweeney disappears into the role of Reality Winner in this gripping HBO film, which pulls from actual FBI transcripts as the whistleblower is ruthlessly interrogated about leaking classified government information. The actress brings a startling mix of intensity and fear to her unwavering heroine, and shows that with a knockout script, she is capable of so much more than she is often given.

Team Jacob or Edward, it doesn't matter — what matters is that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was filmed in British Columbia and no one bothered to tell me! This flick was filmed all around Vancouver, including David Thompson Secondary School for several high school scenes, and Belcarra Regional Park for outdoor scenes. This indie dramedy — basically the Friends for Gen Z — is set in New York, but was actually filmed all over Toronto. Marvel's The Incredible Hulk starring Edward Norton (nope, not Mark Ruffalo), was filmed all around Toronto. From King's College to Cherry Street bridge, the Toronto streets made many cameos as the backdrop for chaos — with even Yonge Street and it's iconic Zanzibar flashing in the final battle scene. While Overcompensating is set at the fictional American Yates University, as it turns out — it's actually the University of Toronto! The St. George campus pulls double duty as a perfectly gritty, all-American backdrop. Despite My Big Fat Greek Wedding's Chicago setting, this rom-com classic is so Toronto. The beloved flick has a longgg list of filming locations, starting from Toronto Metropolitan University's Rogers Communication Centre to Harbourfront Centre, and not so surprisingly, Danforth's Greektown neighbourhood. The Last of Us set in post-apocalyptic United States? Nope, try again — Alberta! Season 1 of the series was actually filmed entirely in Alberta's Calgary, Edmonton, and surrounding towns!
