Over the decades, silver has had its strong moment, both on screen and off in Bollywood, like Alia Bhatt's Rani Chatterjee in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, unapologetically pairing stylish nose pins and jhumkas with sarees and bindi at the workplace (classic desi boss lady vibes). Or Sonam Kapoor's character Bittu Sharma from Delhi-6, rocking a headscarf, halter neck top, midi skirt with chunky silver necklace, earrings and a baajubandh (for that uber cool vibe).
Even off-screen, celebs stun in silver, like Aditi Rao Hydari's selfie, featuring stacked silver bangles and jhumkas (jhumka is a non-negotiable staple in every desi girl's wardrobe, even celebs).
So, if you wish to make your accessorising game look effortlessly 'desi, confident, and hot-girl snatched', you have got to get your basics right, starting with the fundamentals of silver jewellery. HT Lifestyle reached out to experts to understand some of the key styling rules related to silver jewellery.
Festive occasion-centric styling
Silver jewellery pairs beautifully with ethnic wear, just like how Sanya Malhotra effortlessly styled a printed saree with elegant silver pieces. Saree is often worn during festive occasions, and when paired with silver, the look feels cohesive and complete. Even beyond festive celebrations or ethnic wear, silver adds a distinct charm.
Aditya Modak, co-founder of Gargi & Utsaav by P N Gadgil and Sons, shared with HT Lifestyle some festive occasion-wise styling tips for oxidised jewellery. From grand weddings to intimate pujas and even workwear, he unpacked how oxidised silver pieces can be versatile.
He said, 'One of the biggest strengths of oxidised jewellery is its ability to transition effortlessly into everyday wardrobes. A chunky ring with a matte finish, a geometric pendant, or engraved cuffs can turn even a simple jeans-and-shirt combination into something intentional. Worn with a monochrome jumpsuit or an oversized linen shirt, these accents speak of quiet confidence and style that does not try too hard.'
Aditya further listed the silver jewellery pieces based on the occasion:
Wedding: Intricately carved choker or a pair of oversized jhumkas layered with silver bangles can bring a touch of drama to a traditional look. Whether paired with a heritage silk saree or a richly embroidered lehenga, these pieces anchor the entire ensemble.

Whether paired with a heritage silk saree or a richly embroidered lehenga, these pieces anchor the entire ensemble. Puja at home/ brunch: Lighter pieces are ideal. A layered chain with delicate silver charms, or dainty studs with engraved detailing, pairs well with flowy kurtas, fusion wear, or even simple cotton sarees.

How to do layering?

Now that you have a general overview of what type of pieces usually go with an occasion, let's take a closer look at one of the popular styling principles: layering. Layering is all about stacking multiple pieces of jewellery, like rings, necklaces, and bangles, to create visual depth and dimension in your look. It adds more personality and texture to your outfit.
Sanya Khandelwal, founder of Kicky and Perky, shared a guide to the rules regarding layering silver jewellery:
1. Asymmetrical length creates depth
The easiest thing to play with, when attempting to layer, is length.
Using necklaces or pendants of varying lengths creates visual focus and depth.
You will want to try a short choker-style neckpiece along with mid-sized or long necklaces or pendants to create a cascading effect.
If you can wear multiple ear piercings, consider using a stud in anything other than the lower lobe (the most common) piercing; wear a drop earring, a dangler or a hoop to create layers.
2. Start with the centre piece
Choose a piece that can stand out, a statement piece that captures visual attention.
Make it the focal point of your ensemble, and then work around it.
Add elements of various styles/sizes that almost frame the main piece of interest, thus adding a dramatic flair to the outfit.
3. Consistency
One easy and classic method of layering is with either the same or similar materials- the same metal, textures, colours and designs.
You could, alternatively, also experiment with contrast utilising different kinds of colours, textures and metals. Contrasting these elements, based on other features of the overall outfit, can create some cool fits.
4. Day and night
During the day, use simple and delicate pieces; nothing too extraordinary.
At night, swap out one of the more subtle pieces for a piece of dramatic and bold statement jewellery.

Alia Bhatt Visits Bhansali's House Amid Love & War Delay Rumours, Smiles For Paps
Amid Love & War delay rumours, Alia Bhatt was spotted at Sanjay Leela Bhansali's house, flashing a big smile and waving at paps. Here's what she wore. Alia Bhatt was spotted outside Sanjay Leela Bhansali's residence on Wednesday night, putting to rest the recent buzz around a possible delay in the much-anticipated period drama Love & War. The film, which also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, is currently scheduled for a March 2026 release. As speculation mounted about the film missing its deadline, Alia's visit to Bhansali's house has been interpreted by fans as a silent confirmation that the project is still on track. The actress looked cheerful as she greeted paparazzi with a warm wave and a big smile. Dressed in casual chic, Alia opted for a simple white T-shirt paired with wide-legged blue denims. She kept the look clean with black sling-back heels and a black shoulder bag. Her hair was pulled back in a neat low ponytail, and she completed the look with minimal makeup and dainty gold hoops, radiating effortless elegance. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Snehkumar Zala (@sneyhzala) Reports earlier this week had claimed that the film might not meet its March 2026 deadline. A source had told The Hollywood Reporter India, 'After the sequence is filmed, which promises to be of an epic scale involving Vicky and Ranbir, the team aims to wrap up by January 2026. It will be impossible for Love & War to finish post-production and come on the big screen two months later in March. So the film might get pushed." However, other sources close to the production have denied these claims, suggesting the film is progressing as planned. Love & War was officially announced in January 2024 via a signature poster featuring the lead trio—Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal. The film marks Alia's second collaboration with Bhansali after the critically acclaimed Gangubai Kathiawadi and Ranbir's reunion with the director after his 2007 debut Saawariya. Details of the plot are still under wraps, but anticipation around the film continues to grow with every update. With Alia Bhatt making time to meet Bhansali amid shooting schedules and rumours, it seems the team is focused and determined to deliver on time. Rs 1,469 cr revenue for PVR INOX with net loss shrinking to Rs 54 cr in first quarter; box office collections rise by 22 percent
At a time when speculations and theories suggest that the show business in India is struggling to catch a break, particularly owing to the underperformance of Bollywood movies, the earnings registered by cinema halls tell a different story altogether. In the first quarter of the ongoing 2025-26 financial year that ended in June, multiplex giant PVR INOX's consolidated revenue rose by 23 percent to Rs 1,469 crore, with EBITDA margins reaching 27.04 percent, compared to Rs 1,191 crore during the same period last year, as per a report in CNBC TV18. With its consolidated net loss shrinking to Rs 54 crore from last time's Rs 179 crore, the firm has kicked off this fiscal year strongly. Box office collections reportedly increased by nearly 22 per cent, driven by a 12 percent rise in admissions and an 8 percent increase in average ticket prices. Now, film exhibitors and other stakeholders are hopeful that a recovery might be possible after all, following a prolonged rough patch, especially with many highly anticipated films gearing up for release in the coming months. Despite widespread claims that there were no takers for Bollywood films, the Hindi film industry contributed the most to PVR INOX's impressive run this time. While a total of 10 films crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in the quarter ended June 30, five — Raid 2, Sitaare Zameen Par, Kesari Chapter 2, Housefull 5 and Jaat — were Hindi movies, and three among them entered the Rs 200 crore club. As a result, PVR INOX's Bollywood box office collections surged by 38 per cent year-on-year (YoY). Hollywood films also had a strong showing during this period, with a 72 per cent YoY growth, fuelled by major successes like Mission: Impossible 8, Final Destination: Bloodlines, Ballerina and F1. Regional films such as Good Bad Ugly, Thudarum and Tourist Family also made substantial contributions. While the multiplex giant aims to introduce 100 new screens this year, it has already managed to open 20 of them. The company's CFO, Gaurav Sharma, told the publication that the food and beverage (F&B) segment also fared well during this quarter, recording a 23 per cent rise in revenue. The per-head spending, he added, reached its highest Q1 level ever. He also noted a 17 per cent increase in advertising revenue for PVR INOX.
