Shape of meow! Big cat sighting near Ed Sheeran's £3.7million country estate sparks loose 'panther' fears
A large panther-like animal has been spotted near Ed Sheeran 's £3.7million country estate, prompting fears a big cat is on the loose.
A neighbour in Eye, Suffolk was left terrified when he saw the feline just five miles from the Shape Of You singer's swish home, but still found time to take a few snaps.
They show a bulky black creature lurking by the trees on April 23 before disappearing from view.
Matt Salusbury, who runs the Big Cats of Suffolk website said: 'The witness told me they'd seen a large black animal walking up and down along the tree line at the end of a field behind their garden.
'The distance from where they were to the animal when they photographed it was a good few minutes walk.
'They observed it for more than five minutes before it sat down with its head up.'
The Perfect hitmaker, 34, lives in the large Framlingham property with his wife Cherry Seaborn and their two daughters.
There have been many reports of big cats in Britain over the years, with most claiming to have spotted panthers or pumas.
Locals have often been able to take a quick photo of the creature or a suspicious animal carcass they might have preyed on.
Those who support the theory that such cats are roaming around the country tend to claim they are pets which have escaped.
Others, however, think species have been illegally released into the wild.
Sceptics reckon that sightings involve people mistaking them for large domestic dogs or cats, and that such animals could not survive in the UK's mild climate.
Among the most famous alleged big cats in the country was the Beast of Exmoor in Devon in the 80s, which a farmer in the area claimed killed 100 of his sheep in three months.
People regularly report puma spottings in Shropshire while Suffolk also remains a hotspot.
As well as the recent sighting near the pop star's home, there was one in Hoxne in 2006, another near Eye in 2008, and one at Mendlesham in 2015.
MailOnline has contacted Mr Sheeran's representatives for comment.
There are fears that a large creature may be on the loose after the footage was captured on doorbell camera showing a huge black moggy on the driveway of a house
It comes after a big cat which some suspect to be the notorious Beast of Bucks was spotted prowling in the dead of night.
There are fears that a large creature may be on the loose after the footage was captured on doorbell camera showing a huge black moggy on the driveway of a house.
The dark coloured cat appeared much bigger than a domestic feline as it balanced atop a skip.
The sighting has added yet more fuel to the fire of a local myth in Buckinghamshire.
Homeowner David Lawrence lives in a village near High Wycombe, where tales of a puma-sized Beast of Bucks are legendary, and said he saw a large cat which wasn't 'normal'.

Sick robbers who broke into war veteran's home and threatened him with a knife before taking off with his MEDALS are jailed
A pair of robbers who broke into the home of a vulnerable war veteran and threatened him with a knife before stealing his medals have been jailed. Peter Ratcliffe, 48, and Ann Marie Simpson, 38, broke into the pensioner's accommodation in South Shields in July 2023. They pushed the elderly man to the floor and threatened him with a knife before stealing his prized possessions including his bank cards, his passport and his wedding ring. The robbers also made off with the veteran's war medals. The victim was not left with any serious injuries but was extremely shaken and traumatised from the robbery, a court heard. Ratcliffe and Simpson were identified by CCTV and were arrested just hours later. Officers found clothing which matched the outfits being warn by the robbers on the CCTV footage, Chronicle Live reported. They were both charged with robbery and remanded into custody the following day. Earlier this year, both pleaded guilty at Newcastle Crown Court. Ann Marie Simpson, 38, was sentenced to five years and four months imprisonment after pleading guilty to robbery and witness intimidation Simpson also admitted one count of witness intimidation after she sent a letter to the victim telling him to drop the charges against them. On Friday, both were both jailed at a sentencing hearing at Newcastle Crown Court. Ratcliffe, of Trinity Walk, South Shields, was sentenced to seven years and four months behind bars. Simpson, of Johnson Street, also South Shields, was sentenced to five years and four months imprisonment. Both were given a ten-year restraining order, preventing them from contacting the victim. Sergeant Kimberley Ball, of Northumbria Police said: 'This was a cruel and targeted attack on an elderly man in his own home – because of his vulnerabilities. 'I want to thank the victim for his patience and courage throughout this entire process, which I know has been extremely difficult. 'I have no doubt the streets of South Tyneside are safer now these two criminals are behind bars where they belong.'

EXCLUSIVE Ncuti Gatwa spoke at pro-Palestine rally outside Parliament just days after sudden on-screen exit as Doctor Who
As the BBC 's Doctor Who, Ncuti Gatwa came under fire when he mysteriously pulled out of his Eurovision hosting duties moments after Israel qualified last month. Now it can be revealed that three days after the actor departed Doctor Who, he spoke at a pro-Palestine demonstration outside parliament. On 3 June, the actor, 32, stood in front of a banner reading ' Gaza: Actions Not Words' and delivered a speech to hundreds of people at the Westminster event, organised by Choose Love – a charity that this week supported Greta Thunberg 's 'selfie yacht' trip to Gaza. Gatwa had withdrawn from his role as a Eurovision Grand Final spokesman just 18 days before his speech at the rally. It has prompted renewed speculation as to his motivation for pulling out of the role and whether the BBC was aware that he would do so if Israel qualified. He had been due to announce the UK jury's points during the live broadcast but was replaced at short notice by singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, 46. The BBC made the change public only two minutes after Israel qualified for the final – prompting speculation that his withdrawal was a protest. The broadcaster cited 'unforeseen circumstances' as the reason. The timing raised eyebrows, as Israel's contestant, Yuval Raphael – a survivor of the October 7 Nova music festival attack – secured her place in the final that same evening. Gatwa has previously expressed support for the Palestinian cause on social media, sharing images of 'Free Palestine' graffiti and promoting fundraising campaigns. The Rwanda-born, Scotland-raised actor made history as the first Black actor to lead Doctor Who, taking on the role of the Fifteenth Doctor in 2023. However, his tenure ended after just two series, making him the second shortest-serving Doctor in the show's history – only Christopher Eccleston's single-series run was shorter. Gatwa's departure was announced in May 2025, when his character regenerated into Rose Tyler played by Billie Piper, 42, ending his 18-month stint in the Tardis. One attendee at the Westminster rally told the Mail: 'He actually read out the names of deceased Palestinian children from his mobile. 'Ncuti appears unaware that, despite his support for Palestine, he could face serious risks in parts of the Middle East. Given the timing – coming so soon after the Eurovision controversy and his abrupt departure from Doctor Who – his appearance may reflect a belief that his position at the BBC had become untenable.' He was joined at the rally by comedian Alexei Sayle and his former Doctor Who co-star Varada Sethu. Sethu, 33, who played companion Belinda Chandra in Doctor Who, who left the sci-fi show at the time as Gatwa, also spoke at the rally.

Love Island fans furious as huge part of show ‘goes missing' – as shock new couple emerge with secret snog
LOVE Island fans have been left furious after a huge part of the show went missing on tonight's episode. It was another drama-packed edition of the ITV2 dating series with this year's Islanders wasting no time in stirring up trouble with one another. 4 Snogs were being dished out left, right and centre with plenty of couple-swapping on the horizon. However, fans were left more irritated after an iconic feature was pulled from the episode. As the show ended on a Hideaway cliffhanger with Blu's shock snog with Shakira, fans were left on the edges of their seats hoping for a preview of the fallout. But the usual 'tomorrow night' preview was scrapped and the programme instead cut straight to the end credits. Narrator Iain Stirling has become known for his teased catchphrase but fans were not treated to that delight this evening. It left viewers wanting more as they raced to X - formerly Twitter - to share their annoyance. Reacting in disappointment, one fan said: "I hate when they don't give us a tomorrow night." A third wrote: "Erm?!!! Where's the tomorrow night preview ??? "Don't Introduce us to a vibe you cannot maintain pls." Love Island viewers horrified as bombshell makes 'disgusting' sex revelation Someone else said: "What no tomorrow night?? Kmt." It comes as fans were left discussing the eight-year age gap between the show's newest couple, Harry and Shakira. Things got rather steamy between the two but viewers took to social media to share their thoughts on the fact Shakira is 22 while Harry is 30. One wrote: 'Shakira is 22??? Get her away from Harry and his 30 year old a** immediately!!' Someone else said: 'I just deeped the age gap with Shakira and Harry…' And another commented: 'Harry and Shakira look good together but he is 30.' 4 4
