SUV hits Chicago police squad car, 3 other cars on West Side
A sport-utility vehicle hit a Chicago police squad car and three other vehicles in the West Garfield Park neighborhood Sunday evening, police said.
At 6:23 p.m., a Chevrolet Equinox was headed west on Monroe Street when it hit a marked police car that was traveling south on Kostner Avenue. The Equinox also hit a Dodge headed south on Kostner Avenue, police said.
Two parked Hyundais were also struck, police said.
Police did not have information about injuries.
Charges were pending late Sunday against the driver of the Chevy Equinox, police said.

A Free State man was arrested after his wife was found murdered in their bathtub in Riverside, Phuthaditjhaba. The incident occurred on Thursday, 20 June, at about 16:00. Inside, he discovered signs of a violent altercation, including a broken mirror, bloodstains on the walls and running water from the bathroom. He alerted a neighbour, who contacted the police. The victim's husband, who was not at the scene, later contacted police and disclosed his location. He was arrested shortly afterwards. The alleged murder weapon was recovered and has been confiscated, Earle said.

In response to crises inside New York State's prisons, Gov. Kathy Hochul said this winter that swift action in Albany would hold corrections officers accountable and keep inmates safer. In the legislative session that ended Wednesday, the governor directed $400 million to increase camera coverage in prisons. 'As public servants, we have to lead with a great deal of courage and moral clarity,' Emily Gallagher, a Democratic assemblywoman who represents parts of North Brooklyn, said of the governor. 'There is a tension between good policy that protects all residents of New York State,' added Ms. Gallagher, who has been endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America and supported the prison bills.
