Cabinet meeting on June 5 to discuss reports by ministers
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other ministers held an informal meeting on Sunday to review feedback from recent district tours, following which it was decided to convene a Cabinet meeting on June 5 to take up the issues formally.
The 90-minute discussion on the eve of Telangana Formation Day also served as an opportunity for the ministers to extend their wishes to the people of the state. Comprehensive reports submitted by ministers, based on their interactions with citizens during their recent district visits, formed the basis for the deliberations.
The discussions focused on pressing public concerns and development programmes, including Bhu Bharati, Indiramma Illu, monsoon preparedness, paddy procurement, addressing government employees' demands and the implementation of the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme.
Given the overwhelming public response to Rajiv Yuva Vikasam, ministers stressed the importance of a transparent and rigorous screening process to ensure only the most deserving applicants are selected. Revanth instructed officials to implement a meticulous and foolproof system for shortlisting and final selection of beneficiaries.

HYDERABAD: The state Cabinet, led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, is scheduled to meet on June 5. It is expected to take up the report submitted by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) on the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS), implementation of the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam Scheme and issues concerning government employees, among other matters. Sources said the Cabinet is likely to approve the NDSA report and adopt its recommendations. The Rajiv Yuva Vikasam Scheme, which aims to provide bank loans with incentives for youth self-employment, is also expected to come up for discussion. Even before the scheme's rollout, the government received several complaints about ineligible applicants being considered. Though over 13 lakh applications have been received, the distribution of sanction letters — which was set to begin on June 2 — has been put on hold. In a recent meeting with ministers, the chief minister said the letters would be issued only after Cabinet deliberations. Meanwhile, the Cabinet is also likely to discuss the report submitted by the three-officer committee formed to engage with government employees on their pending issues and demands. The report was recently submitted to Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

Drone-based survey to be part of Bhu Bharati pilot project
KHAMMAM: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday described the Bhu Bharati initiative as a historic and rare legal reform in Indian history. He said that the law's primary objective is to comprehensively survey agricultural lands, clearly define boundaries and resolve all disputes related to land ownership. The deputy CM, along with Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao, formally launched the Bhu Bharati survey pilot project at Mulugumadu village under the Madhira Assembly constituency. The trio initiated a drone-based survey in the village as part of the launch. The state government has chosen five villages for the pilot phase of the Bhu Bharati initiative, with Mulugumadu being one among them in Khammam district. The survey process involves the use of drones to map land boundaries, satellite imaging to gather geospatial data, and the application of DGPS (Differential GPS) and rovers to assess ground reality. Officials will demarcate the boundaries of lands and villages using GPS technology, and prepare LPMs (land parcel maps) and nakshas (revenue maps). The government has identified approximately 413 villages in the state that currently lack land records, maps, and clearly defined borders. The Bhu Bharati pilot will focus on such villages, aiming to create comprehensive records and provide legal assurance to farmers regarding their land holdings. D Srinivas, assistant director of Lands and Surveys for Khammam district, explained that the entire land in these pilot villages will be mapped and every farmer will receive a unique QR code to access their land details. He said that the full survey process is expected to be completed within 20 days.

Sweets distributed on Telangana Formation Day suspected to be cause of food poisoning at IMH Erragadda
Sweets distributed to inmates at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), Erragadda, as part of Telangana Formation Day celebrations on Monday (June 2, 2025) are suspected to have caused a major food poisoning incident that left 92 people ill, and one dead. The Non-DC ward of the hospital, where the sweets were served, reported a sudden spike in complaints of nausea, vomiting, and uneasiness shortly after 6 p.m on June 2. As of Wednesday (June 4), 74 patients remained under observation at IMH, while 18 were shifted to Osmania General Hospital for further care. Hospital officials said they are in a stable condition. On Wednesday morning, the hospital premises slowly returned to routine as doctors resumed duties and patients' attendants waited anxiously. Meanwhile, senior health officials, including Director of Medical Education A. Narendra Kumar and Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad Commissioner Ajaya Kumar, visited the hospital for a detailed review and held a brief meeting with hospital superintendent Anitha Rayirala before inspecting the affected ward. Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha, who arrived at IMH to take stock of the situation, told reporters that preliminary findings suggest the sweets distributed on the occasion could be the cause. 'Initial reports indicate that the water supply is largely safe. There is a strong possibility that this was a case of food poisoning due to the sweets. We have terminated the diet contractor's services as a precautionary measure,' he said. Samples of the food and water have been collected for laboratory analysis. An internal inquiry is underway, and a detailed report is expected in the coming days, the minister said.
