FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – The Fond du Lac Police Department and community members are in mourning after the death of a beloved local icon.
Jerome 'Jerry' A. Boehlen Sr. stood at the corner of Park and Merrill for two decades, helping children cross the street safely while greeting every passerby with a smile and wave.

Jerry passed away on Monday, the Fond du Lac Police Department said.
'Rain or shine, Jerry was there — a steady presence, a friendly face, and a local icon whose kindness touched generations,' the Fond du Lac Police Department said. '

While Jerry retired three years ago, many will continue to recognize Park and Merril as 'Jerry's Corner.'
'Thank you, Jerry, for the decades of dedication, laughter and love,' the Fond du Lac Police Department said. 'You will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.'

Kewaunee PD seeking suspects allegedly involved in vehicle theft on 2nd Street
KEWAUNEE, Wis. (WFRV) – Officers with the Kewaunee Police Department say they are looking for information or camera footage of two car theft suspects near 2nd Street around 1 a.m. on Sunday. According to a Facebook post, the Kewaunee Police Department states that a vehicle was stolen off of 2nd Street around 12:50 a.m. on June 8. Officers described the two suspects as younger males, one with a white sweatshirt wearing a backpack and one with a blue/black sweatshirt, both with hoods pulled over their heads. Fond du Lac officers investigating shots fired incident near Parish School Apartments The suspects were also seen on 1st Street, Lincoln Street, and in the alley west of 1st Street. Officers are asking anyone with information or camera footage of the suspects to come forward. It was noted that the stolen car was found in a parking lot on Juneau Street and Miller Street. Young victims of Menasha fishing gear vandalism to receive donations thanks to overwhelming community support
MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) – After overwhelming community outreach helped to quickly identify suspects who destroyed , the Menasha community is stepping up once again to provide those victims with donations. The Menasha Police Department will be hosting a special community event on Thursday, June 12, to recognize the three young victims from the late-May incident, while providing them with the generous donations that have been collected by the community. 'Thanks to widespread support from the public, the victims will be receiving donated fishing gear. Some items are brand new, while others were generously provided by community members and local anglers,' Menasha PD stated in a release. Brown County Board of Supervisors votes to pass agreement to relocate Green Bay coal piles The incident happened sometime overnight between May 27 and May 28 along the Trestle Trail near the Menasha Locks. The victims stated that when they were fishing at night, they were approached by two strangers, and without provocation, the strangers threw multiple tackle boxes and fishing rods of theirs into the water. 'They came up and threw our gear in the water for no reason,' said one of the young anglers. 'Everything we needed was in that tackle box.' Within four hours of the case being made public, the two suspects were identified, and officers credited the overwhelming number of tips and messages from the community. 4th Annual Rocky Bleier Golf Outing in Wrightstown raises money for local veterans Officers say the event is a great opportunity to highlight the positive impact of community involvement after a senseless act. Door County businesses face visa delays for student workers amidst appointment pauses
SISTER BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Door County's busy tourism season is underway, but a pause on visa interviews for international students is leaving some local businesses in limbo. Joan Hutchinson, general manager at Pheasant Park Resort in Sister Bay, says she hired nine international students through the J-1 visa program this year, with workers coming from Mongolia, Romania, Ecuador, Taiwan and Turkey. 'I've had one that's had her appointment and still hasn't heard back,' Hutchinson said. 'Another one doesn't even have her interview until June 10th.' The delays are already affecting operations at the 58-unit resort. Hutchinson says she's had to block off rooms from being rented because she doesn't have enough staff to clean them. 'That's a huge problem when you consider the majority of our income comes between June 15th and September 1st,' she said. The uncertainty is also weighing heavily on the students who take part in the cultural exchange program. 'It takes time and I have to pay more money to get a visa or go through the agency,' said Tergel Njaykhlant, a worker from Mongolia. 'It's a lot.' Others worry about what happens if they're denied after investing hundreds of dollars.
