While Vohra was killed in the encounter, two police personnel sustained gunshot injuries.
According to additional commissioner (special cell) Pramod Kushwaha, Vohra was wanted in connection with a sensational triple murder, besides the killing of a businessman who refused to pay protection money. He had a reward of Rs 3.1 lakh declared on his head.
Vohra reported to Bhanu Rana, a Georgia-based operative of the group.
Hours after the encounter, Rana posted on Instagram threatening special cell officers with consequences for the encounter. "We will definitely take revenge for this encounter and get justice for our brother. In our tradition, death is the revenge for death. Whether we have to kill the policemen in it or whoever we come to know was involved... no matter who he is, whatever his level, we will kill him," Rana posted from his account.
"Whether we have to kill one or 10, we will definitely do it.. #LawrenceBishnoGroup #KalaRanaGiroh," the post concluded.
Vohra, police said, had spread terror in Delhi and Haryana through shooting incidents. He was sending messages to businessmen, saying they won't receive multiple warnings like in the past. If the money was not paid after the first demand, "seedha maut aayegi", he used to warn them.
According to additional CP Kushwaha, they had received inputs about Vohra's movements in south Delhi after which a joint checking exercise was undertaken in the vicinity of the Delhi-Haryana border in Dera Mandi.

"A team led by DCP Manishi Chandra laid a trap. In the early hours of Tuesday, Vohra was identified by an informer and stopped. The police teams tried to apprehend him, but he fired on the police party and tried to escape.
The team fired in self-defence during which Vohra sustained gunshot injuries," Kushwaha said.
Two sub-inspectors Pravin and Rohan were shot at by Vohra during the exchange of fire. The injured cops and the criminal were rushed to hospital where Vohra was declared dead and the policemen were admitted for treatment.
Vohra's first major crime was in Dec 2024 in Yamunanagar. He and his associates had killed three liquor businessmen—Virender Rana, Arjun Rana and Pankaj Malik—outside a gym on Dec 26. The services of nine police personnel who were deployed at the police post under whose area the crime happened were terminated for not taking timely action.
On June 14, Vohra and associates fatally shot a liquor contractor at Shahabad in Haryana's Kurukshetra district. Shantanu was shot dead near Meena Market on the national highway when he had briefly stopped his car to buy cigarettes from a shop. Vohra and his aide, riding a sports bike, pumped seven bullets into him and fired about eight rounds before fleeing. As panic gripped the busy highway, bystanders tried to intervene and stop the shooters.
However, the assailants quickly abandoned their bike, sprinted across the road and hijacked a motorcycle at gunpoint. They then fled towards Ambala, driving recklessly on the wrong side of the highway.

Trafficked by a cop, saved by a card: A tribal woman's ordeal in Telangana

VADGONDI (ASIFABAD) : 'Penda daya te tirisi vaathom' (Thank God, she came back safely), said Siva (name changed) in Gondi, with a sigh of relief. 'No other girl should face such trauma, such hardship, such agony,' he added. Siva was referring to his daughter Asha (name changed) who was finally home, having been rescued from the clutches of traffickers after a year. She was last seen at the Jainoor bus stand, after visiting her sister for Holi in March last year. Her disappearance remained a mystery until recently, when a chance phone call led to her rescue from Madhya Pradesh. According to her family, Asha was trafficked by a man trusted in the village — 60-year-old police constable Kameri Haridas. Known locally for offering farming loans and supplies, Haridas allegedly took Asha to his room in Asifabad, confiscated her phone and jewellery and confined her. She was then sold through a network of brokers operating between Kumurambheem Asifabad district and Madhya Pradesh for Rs 1.3 lakh. From Asifabad, Asha was passed between several handlers before ending up in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh. There, she was forcibly married to Ghanshyam Prajapat, a mason. With no means of communication, she was unable to contact her family, who began to fear the worst.

18 with Rs 50 lakh fake gold nabbed in Telangana, second gang at large

HYDERABAD: The Market police on Tuesday busted an 18-member dacoity gang involved in a fake gold deal scam and recovered valuables worth over Rs 50 lakh. However, members of another gang which stole a portion of the loot, are absconding. According to police, the victim, a Bowenpally resident, was lured with an offer to buy 1 kg of gold at a 5% discount, with payment in cash. After verifying the cash at his office, a group posing as Rachakonda SOT officers barged in, assaulted him and fled with cash and mobile phones. The plot was masterminded by two brothers who posed as gold traders. They orchestrated the heist at a hotel meeting on June 18. During the staged deal, one of the accused impersonated a police officer and showed a fake ID to gain the victim's trust before executing the fake raid. In a bizarre twist, another group claiming to be vehicle recovery agents intercepted the robbers during their escape and stole the stolen cash, claiming their getaway bike was under EMI default. This led to clashes between the two groups. Police arrested 18 suspects from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Seized items include Rs 43.21 lakh in cash, 57.193 grams of gold (worth approx. Rs 6 lakh), two cars, four two-wheelers and 23 mobile phones. At least 10 more accused are absconding, including those who helped plan the fake raid.

ACB to probe AAP's Bharadwaj, Satyender Jain in multi-crore hospital scam, party denies allegations

NEW DELHI: In a fresh trouble for former ministers and AAP leaders Saurabh Bharadwaj and Satyendar Jain, the Union Home Ministry has given the nod to the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) for an investigation against them in the alleged thousands crore 'hospitals scam'. Lieutenant-Governor VK Saxena had recommended an inquiry against the former health ministers. The AAP, however, refuted the allegations against its leaders. In August 2024, BJP MLA Vijender Gupta alleged irregularities in the execution of healthcare infrastructure projects worth over Rs 1,000 crore. The irregularities flagged by Gupta include 24 hospital projects—11 greenfield and 13 brownfield—sanctioned at Rs 5,590 crore in 2018-19, are yet mired in inexplicable delays. Seven ICU hospitals sanctioned at a cost of Rs 1,125 crore for construction within six months from September, 2021 still await completion. Accordingly, the ACB referred the matter to Vigilance Department for approval to probe the two, which forwarded the request to relevant departments. The AAP, however, said the BJP and the L-G have turned governance into a 'laughing stock' by weaponising routine project delays as alleged corruption. Drawing a stark contrast with the Centre's record, AAP questioned why no CBI inquiries have been launched into the 10-year delay of the Bullet Train project or the fact that 53% of Central government infrastructure projects face delays exceeding three years and massive cost overruns.
