USA TODAY's TV critic Kelly Lawler breaks down the best TV shows you don't to want to miss this summer
Belly and the boys will be returning to Cousins for the last time.
Season 3 of "The Summer I Turned Pretty," a coming-of-age romantic television series based on the popular book trilogy by Jenny Han, premieres July 16 on Amazon Prime Video.
The show, which takes place over many-a summer, follows the ongoing love triangle between Belly (Lola Tung) and brothers, Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) as they navigate life and one immeasurable loss.
The last time we saw Belly ("The Summer I Turned Pretty" Season 2 finale), she decided to put the past and her feelings for first love Conrad in the rearview as she focuses on her future and her budding relationship with Jeremiah.
But the past, specifically Conrad, has a habit of reappearing when its least convenient for Belly, who tries but fails to keep her feelings at bay. Belly's left to make a huge decision, one that will change the course of their lives forever, by the end of the summer.
While the essence of the original story has remained intact, Han is known for having a few tricks up her sleeve, and this season won't be any different.
"There are going to be surprises," Han, creator and showrunner, told Entertainment Weekly on June 5. "There are the things that they know and then there are things they think they know, and then there's going to be, hopefully, things that surprise them."
Here's what we know about Belly's "last" summer in Cousins, including how to tune in.
Where will 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' Season 3 pick up?
Many, but not all viewers, know what's going to happen next and how it's going to end.
For those who haven't read the books or simply don't remember the Season 2 finale, the new season will pick up with Belly, who is looking forward to another summer in Cousins with Jeremiah after her junior year of college. (Seemingly everyone, except Jeremiah, knows that Conrad still has a place in Belly's heart.)
"Her future seems set, until some core-shaking events bring her first love Conrad back into her life," according to official logline for Season 3. "Now on the brink of adulthood, Belly finds herself at a crossroads and must decide which brother has her heart. Summer will never be the same."
While Belly's decision is the focus of Season 3, other characters like Taylor and Steven will likely have a moment in the spotlight.
