For years, Garmin was known for rugged, data-rich watches built for marathoners, triathletes, and outdoor adventurers. But that's changing. The brand's newer devices, like the sleek Venu X1 with its 2-inch AMOLED display and the compact Lily 2 Active, offer a more accessible, lifestyle-friendly experience.
The Garmin Venu X1 features a sleek, lightweight design, a bright 2-inch AMOLED touchscreen, built-in GPS, heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and personalized fitness plans. It's a stunner of a watch for both style and performance.
Garmin has also entered new categories with products like the Index Sleep Monitor, its first smart sleep band, designed to help users improve sleep quality and track recovery metrics, minus a big watch display.
These developments appear to be driving strong results. Garmin's fitness segment revenue increased 41 percent year-over-year to $605 million, while operating income rose 84 percent to $198 million, representing the largest gain among all divisions.
The company credits the growth to high demand for its latest wearables. As CEO Cliff Pemble said, 'We delivered another quarter of outstanding financial results with double-digit growth in every segment, driven by our strong lineup of innovative and highly differentiated products that customers desire.'
What's next for Garmin? For now, the focus will most likely be on maintaining momentum and meeting users' evolving needs. But then again, we're always hoping to see a shiny new smartwatch or two...

Last Friday, just before we headed into the weekend, Nintendo quietly announced that it would be raising prices on the original Switch and a number of accessories, largely in response to President Trump's latest tariffs. However, the company avoided providing actual numbers. We now have the prices that went into effect starting on August 3. While the Nintendo Switch 2 was spared a price increase (for now), every model of the original Switch and a number of accessories including controllers did see bumps. From the excellent, and noticeably larger, 7.9-inch display to the more powerful internal specs, the Switch 2 is a full leap forward and the best hybrid console you can buy. Nintendo did suggest that "market conditions" could change the price of its newest console, meaning tariffs are likely to cause the console to go up in cost. Where the price really stings is for the accessories. Nintendo's controllers are already finicky and the Joy-Con 2s being priced at $100 is more expensive than even Mario Kart World and its $80 price tag. If you were on the fence about picking up a Switch 2, now might be the time before tariffs and "market conditions" cause it to become even more expensive. Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra just tipped for major camera upgrade according to latest leak
Samsung puts fairly excellent cameras in its flagship phones, with the Galaxy S25 Ultra being our top pick in our list of best camera phones. Lately, the company has seemed to settle on similar hardware year to year, with improvements found on the software side. However, a new leak from regular Samsung tipster Ice Universe reveals a pretty major upgrade for next year's Galaxy S26 Ultra. His most recent leak claims that the flagship phone will feature a larger F/1.4 aperture. Last month, Ice Universe claimed that Samsung would use the same ISOCELL HP2 sensor in the primary camera. This is the same 200 megapixel sensor that Samsung has used since introducing the Galaxy S23 Ultra in 2023. This gives us pause to consider that Samsung is relying too heavily on AI to sell its phones rather than the hardware itself. Still, the larger aperture is an upgrade in and of itself. Currently, the S25 Ultra features the HP2 sensor and an f/1.7 aperture. The camera's aperture is the opening that lets light pass to the sensor. Simply, the f-number of your camera stands for the focal length of the camera, which is slightly different on a smartphone but principally similar. The lower the number, the larger the aperture. What this means is that the S26 Ultra will be able to take in more light, which should make the phone perform better in low-light situations. It should also create a shallower depth of field, meaning out-of-focus areas in a photo will look more blurry while sharpening the subject. For most people, this may not rock the camera boat, but for shooters who enjoy Samsung's manual controls, a larger aperture will be a boon, especially in low-light images. If Samsung keeps to its traditional schedule, we'll likely see the S26 Ultra revealed at an Unpacked event in January of 2026. We gave this laptop our Editor's Choice award because it's easily the best MacBook to date, and one of the best ultraportables period. The discount appears to apply across the retailer's entire stock of MacBook Air M4s, so if you prefer a bigger screen you can also get the 15-inch MacBook Air M4 for $999 at Best Buy.
