‘Dept. Q' Renewed for Season 2
The Goode-led drama premiered with its nine episodes on Thursday, May 29, giving the new head of a police department quite the cold case to solve — while one very personal to both DCI Carl Morck and his partner, DCI James Hardy (Jamie Sives), remains open. The finale left off with a few loose threads to follow, but what's in store in the show's future? Read on for everything we know so far about Dept. Q Season 2, from the cast to the case and more.
Has Dept. Q been renewed?
Yes! Netflix renewed Dept. Q for a second season on August 18. It will be filmed and set in Edinburgh, after doing so for the first season was a success.
'I'd like to thank Netflix for giving us the opportunity to further investigate Department Q's storylines. We have a wonderful cast and crew, headed by our resident genius Scott Frank. I cannot wait to read what comes from his magic quill!' Goode said in a statement.
Added Frank, writer and director of the series, 'I'm grateful to the folks at Netflix, as well as our shining cast and crew, for once more risking their careers to enable my folly.'
Season 1 spent six weeks in the Global Top Ten shows on Netflix.

Yes. It is based on a Danish Nordic noir crime series by Jussi Adler-Olsen, and there are now 10 books in it.

How did Dept. Q Season 1 end?
Morck, Akram, Rose, and Hardy were able to find Merritt, who had been kidnapped by a mother-son duo who blamed her for the other son's death; she, in turn, blamed the son holding her captive for his attack on her brother. Three months after that, Merritt was doing much better and showed up at the police station to thank those who saved her. She, however, couldn't find Morck, and the two actually passed by each other without her knowing who he was.
Meanwhile, Morck used the fact that Burns is corrupt to get the department more money, Akram a badge, and himself a car. And so the department — with Hardy joining the others down in the basement, at least once they fix the stairs situation as he continues to recover from being shot and needs crutches to get around — was ready to solve more cold cases.
Who shot Morck and Hardy on Dept. Q?
Both Morck and Hardy survived gunshot wounds they sustained while at a crime scene, but the police officer who was also there was killed. Hardy spent the season recovering. Morck did do a lineup to see if he could recognize the shooter's eyes — the part he remembers — but came up empty. When Hardy returned to work, Jacobson told him she had a file for him to look at, and we saw her looking at the one for their shooting.
What will Dept. Q Season 2 be about?
That's to be determined, though it would obviously see the team tackling another cold case. And we'd also imagine that we might get answers about who shot Morck and Hardy.
Right now, the logline simply reads, 'DCI Carl Morck heads up the maverick Dept. Q from the basement of an Edinburgh police station. Charged with cases previously deemed unsolvable, this darkly humorous, propulsive show delivers all the pleasures of a procedural, taking us into the complex mysteries not just of the cases but of the detectives themselves.'
Should it follow the second book in Jussi Adler-Olsen's Danish Nordic noir crime series, The Absent One, its synopsis reads as follows: 'By the opening of Adler-Olsen's shocking, fast-paced follow-up, Mørck is satisfied with the notion of picking up long-cold leads. So he's naturally intrigued when a closed case lands on his desk: A brother and sister were brutally murdered two decades earlier, and one of the suspects — part of a group of privileged boarding school students —confessed and was convicted. But once Mørck reopens the files, it becomes clear that all is not what it seems. Looking into the supposedly solved case leads him to Kimmie, a woman living on the streets, stealing to survive. Kimmie has mastered evading the police, but now they aren't the only ones looking for her. Because Kimmie has secrets that certain influential individuals would kill to keep buried . . . as well as one of her own that could turn everything on its head.'

Ryan Reynolds And Rob McElhenney May Bring Women's World Cup To Wrexham
Ambitious plans to redevelop the oldest venue in the world to stage international soccer could result in Wrexham hosting matches at the 2035 FIFA Women's World Cup. The Welsh club are owned by American actor Rob McElhenney and Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds, through their RR McReynolds Company LLC. Since their takeover was approved in 2021, they have helped the team secure three successive promotions from tier five to tier two of the English men's game. The club's fortunes have been documented on the hugely successful FX television series 'Welcome to Wrexham' broadcast on Disney Plus. The Hollywood actors were present on Saturday to see their team play its first game of the new Championship season against West Bromwich Albion, a match watched by an attendance of 10,656 spectators. It was the club's first game at that level for 43 years. The United Kingdom are the sole bidders to host the 2035 FIFA Women's World Cup. It will be the second tournament to feature 48 teams and will therefore utilise more venues than previous editions. The Football Associations of the four nations staging games - England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales - will submit their bid document to FIFA in November which is expected to include up to sixteen stadiums. It is believed that the Football Association of Wales (FAW) want to put forward two stadiums, one in Cardiff, in the south of the country, and one in the north of the nation. The Racecourse Ground (Y Cae Ras in Welsh) is the largest ground in North Wales and has a storied history having first staged games in 1864. Currently, FIFA bid requirements stipulate that a minimum of eight stadiums must be proposed and each stadium must be an all-seater with a minimum capacity of 20,000. This is double the current limit of the Racecourse Ground. A new 7,750-capacity Kop Stand is currently being developed which will take the seating capacity to 18,000. It will be fully compliant with UEFA Category Four stadium requirements. The new Kop will be completed in time for it to be used next summer when the stadium will host matches at the U19 UEFA European Championship. However in May 2024, Reynolds and McElhenney outlined plans to redevelop all four sides of the ground. McElhenney said 'it's hard to say for sure, but we think we can get between 45,000 and 55,000 people in there'. Stadium architects Populous have been appointed to create a masterplan for the venue. Speaking to the Press Association yesterday, Noel Mooney, the chief executive of the Football Association of Wales (FAW) admitted that 'the Kop development is a significant first step and the vision for the stadium is incredible.' 'What Ryan and Rob are doing is amazing. They are looking to look to invest in the stadium and build up the Cae Ras, which is the oldest international ground in the world, and there is a potential North Star for them. The city and the club have a chance to bring a World Cup to North Wales. What a story that would be. What a legacy for Ryan and Rob to leave Wrexham.' The Racecourse Ground first hosted an international games in 1877 when Wales played Scotland on March 5. Since then it has staged 95 senior international Wales matches, more than any other stadium in the country. The last of those came against Gibraltar in October 2023. The Wrexham Women's team were promoted to the Welsh Premier Division in 2023 and finished fourth in the league last season. The investment and interest created by Reynolds and McElhenney have led to a partnership between the women's team and Ally Financial, the largest all-digital bank in the United States. As part of the deal, they organised for the team to compete in tour matches in the United States in 2024 and, this summer, in Hong Kong. Last month, the Welsh women's team competed at their first-ever senior tournament, the UEFA Women's Euro in Switzerland. The Welsh women's team played Sweden at the Racecourse Ground in the UEFA Nations League in February. As hosts of the Women's World Cup, Wales will qualify automatically for a tournament they have never competed at before. Mooney added that 'there is a symbiotic relationship there where we can create a lot of value for each other. People all over the world are talking about Wrexham and that inspires partners like FIFA, commercial bodies and Governments to get involved.'

But none of his decisions in the early days of owning America's Team had prepared him for the extreme criticism from Cowboys Nation. 'I was Darth Vader,' Jones, 82, recalls in the new Netflix docuseries America's Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys. Jones told Arkansas state lawmakers at the time that he had received multiple death threats. 'They're serious about their football in the state of Texas, almost as much as we are in Arkansas,' he says in the doc. After Landry's firing, more than 100,000 people turned out for a parade through the streets of downtown Dallas to honor the Cowboys coach of 29 years. 'Jerry and the Jones family had broken into the museum and taken our most valuable possession,' former ABC affiliate WFAA-TV sportscaster Dale Hansen says in the doc, describing the affection fans had for the former coach.
