Arab Parliament delegation visits UAE Floating Hospital in Al Arish
The delegation conducted a comprehensive tour of the hospital's various departments and reviewed the medical and humanitarian services provided to patients.
During the visit, the delegation members met with several Palestinian patients receiving treatment at the hospital. They listened to their experiences regarding the level of healthcare and humanitarian support offered by the Emirati medical teams.
The delegation was also briefed on the progress of "Operation Chivalrous Knight 3" in Al Arish, which is part of the UAE's efforts to support the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
The delegation learned about the operation's management mechanism and the types of assistance being provided, which include food and health packages, kits for children and women, clothing packages for children, and various other forms of relief aid. Delegation members participated in the packing of some of these aid packages.
Al Yammahi praised the significant efforts made by the UAE in supporting the Palestinian people and alleviating their suffering, affirming that these humanitarian initiatives reflect genuine Arab values and a shared sense of Arab solidarity.
The UAE Floating Hospital is considered one of the UAE's most prominent humanitarian initiatives under "Operation Chivalrous Knight 3".
It was launched on February 23, 2024, to provide comprehensive healthcare services to those injured in the Gaza Strip.
The hospital is staffed by specialised medical teams and equipped with advanced capabilities to deliver urgent medical care and psychosocial support to the wounded.
Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 began on November 5, 2023, under the directives of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President, to support the Palestinian people in Gaza.
Since its launch, the UAE has provided over 70,000 tonnes of relief, medical, and food aid, demonstrating its deep commitment to alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people.

Gaza: The UAE, in cooperation with the World Health Organisation (WHO) in the Gaza Strip, has delivered a shipment of medicines and medical supplies to the health sector, as part of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3. Sharif Al-Nayrab, Media Director for Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 in Gaza, reaffirmed that the UAE continues to provide medical aid and pharmaceuticals to the Gaza Strip under the initiative to prevent the collapse of the healthcare system and alleviate the suffering of hospitals and patients. Heba Alnajjar, Emergency medical teams (EMT) coordinator at WHO, stated that the organisation delivered the shipment to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, containing all essential and currently unavailable medicines in Gaza's health facilities. She expressed hope for continued cooperation and the entry of more UAE aid to support the health sector. Ibrahim Al-Farra, Director of the Palestinian Aid Delivering Committee at the Ministry of Health in Gaza, described the UAE's assistance as a "lifeline" for all patients, noting that the continued supply of medicines and medical equipment revitalises hospitals and helps save the lives of the sick and wounded. The delivery is part of an ongoing series of aid shipments scheduled for the coming period, as part of the UAE's sustained efforts through Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 to ease the health crisis in Gaza and ensure the continuity of medical services.

Famine in Gaza threatens thousands with starvation, WHO warns
Gaza: The World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned that Gaza is facing the most severe stage of famine according to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, with thousands at risk of dying from hunger. In a statement issued today, the organisation said residents of Gaza are suffering from extreme food shortages, with some going days without eating and others dying from severe weakness or organ failure. Children with acute malnutrition, it added, are particularly at risk of death without urgent treatment. The statement highlighted that Gaza's healthcare system is no longer able to function effectively due to a dire shortage of medical supplies and fuel, compounding the suffering of both patients and healthcare workers. The organisation noted that recovery from malnutrition requires months of specialised medical care and therapeutic feeding, warning that some effects may be lifelong, such as stunted growth and chronic health conditions. The WHO called for the immediate and unhindered entry of humanitarian aid -- food and medicine -- through all possible routes. It urged Israel to facilitate the delivery of assistance and ensure its safe and rapid passage in order to save lives and end the suffering of civilians. The organisation also renewed its call for a ceasefire.

One in every five children in Gaza suffers from malnutrition: UNRWA
Gaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said that one in every five children is malnourished in Gaza City as cases increase every day. "Most children our teams are seeing are emaciated, weak and at high risk of dying if they don't get the treatment they urgently need. More than 100 people, the vast majority of them children, have reportedly died of hunger," Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA Commissioner-General, said. He added that parents are too hungry to care for their children, "those who reach UNRWA clinics don't have the energy, food, or means to follow medical advice." This deepening crisis is affecting everyone, including those trying to save lives in the war-torn enclave. "UNRWA frontline health workers, are surviving on one small meal a day, often just lentils, if at all. They are increasingly fainting from hunger while at work. When caretakers cannot find enough to eat, the entire humanitarian system is collapsing," he stated. Lazzarini called on humanitarian partners to bring unrestricted and uninterrupted humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
