De La Cruz hits 2 long homers, Singer sharp against former team, Reds top Royals 7-2
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Elly De La Cruz hit two long home runs, Brady Singer pitched seven strong innings against his former team and the Cincinnati Reds beat the Kansas City Royals 7-2 on Tuesday night.
De La Cruz hit a 436-foot shot to center in the fourth inning that tied the score at 2 against Jonathan Bowlan, then a go-ahead
451-foot drive into the right-center fountain in the sixth
off Taylor Clarke (1-1). De La Cruz has 11 home runs this season. He tied Pete Rose's team record for switch-hitters with five multihomer games, including two this year.
Singer (6-3), acquired from the Royals in November, allowed two runs and seven singles.
Tyler Stephenson homered in the second, but Kyle Isbel and Jonathan India had RBI single in the bottom half.

Associated Press LOS ANGELES (AP) — Mulivai Levu hit a three-run home run, Dean West and Payton Brennan added two RBIs apiece and UCLA jumped to a big lead and then held on to beat UC Irvine 8-5 on Sunday night and win the Los Angeles Regional. UCLA (45-16) clinched its first trip to the super regionals since 2019. UC Irvine (43-17) beat Arizona State 11-6 in a loser-out game earlier Sunday. The Anteaters made back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time since they went to six straight tourneys from 2006-11. Roman Martin's RBI single off Finnegan Wall (0-1) in the first inning made it 1-0 and the Bruins led the rest of the way. Canaries comeback falls short, swept in Kansas City
Kansas City, Kan. (Canaries) — Kansas City's hot start was too much to overcome on Sunday as the Canaries were dealt an 8-6 loss at Legends Field. The Monarchs raced out to a six-run lead after three innings before Sioux Falls answered with three runs in the top of the fourth. Jabari Henry led off the frame with a double and scored on a base hit from Peter Zimmermann. Trevor Achenbach would then score on an error and Scott Combs followed with an RBI single before Kansas City could escape the jam. Calvin Estrada smacked a solo homerun in the fifth inning to bring the Birds within 6-4 but Kansas City scored twice over the next two frames to build a four-run lead. Combs and Henry each delivered RBI singles in the ninth and the Canaries loaded the bases with two outs but could get no closer.
