Late Juma'ani Remembered For Her Loving And Gentle Nature
KUCHING, June 23 (Bernama) -- The late Puan Sri Juma'ani Tuanku Bujang, wife of Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, was fondly remembered for her loving heart and gentle demeanour.
Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Sarawak (SABATI) deputy president Datuk Doreen Mayang said that during her time working alongside Juma'ani, who served as SABATI president, she witnessed her unwavering dedication and compassion for charitable work.
'She always offered us guidance in fulfilling our roles as the wives of elected representatives.
'She was also passionate about traditional crafts such as keringkam and songket, and contributed greatly to promoting them to the wider public,' she told reporters after paying her last respects at Masjid Jamek Negeri Sarawak here today.
Meanwhile, Sarawak Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah described Juma'ani as an exemplary wife — gentle in demeanour yet steadfast in conveying guidance and counsel.
'This loss is deeply felt by everyone in the ministry, as she was actively involved in supporting programmes for women, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs), and regularly attended the state-level Women's Day celebrations.
'We will miss her presence and personal touch at every event. We pray that her soul will be placed among the righteous and the pious,' she said.
Juma'ani passed away at a private medical centre at 3.34 am today. She was 76.

Sarawak Premier's wife, Juma'ani, buried in Petra Jaya cemetery

Earlier, the funeral prayer was performed at Masjid Jamek Negeri, led by Sarawak Grand Imam Datuk Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi, and attended by family members, federal and state leaders, as well as members of the public. Following the prayer, Juma'ani's remains were taken to the cemetery for burial. Abang Johari, their two children, Abang Abdillah Izzarim and Dayang Norjihan, as well as grandchildren and other family members, were present throughout the ceremony. Among those who paid their last respects at the mosque were Sarawak Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, all three Deputy Premiers - Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian and Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas - and several state assemblymen. Juma'ani, 76, breathed her last at a private medical centre at 3.34am today. She was the daughter of Sarawak's second Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Tuanku Bujang Tuanku Othman. Indonesia Probes Second Bomb Threat On Saudia Hajj Flight

The threat, made on Saturday via voice communication routed through a Virtual Private Network (VPN)-based radio system, prompted an emergency landing in North Sumatra. bootstrap slideshow The affected flight, Saudia flight SVA 5688, operating the Jeddah-Muscat-Surabaya route, was carrying 376 Hajj pilgrims from East Java and 11 crew members. The aircraft landed safely at Kualanamu International Airport in North Sumatra at 9.30 am. All passengers and crew were evacuated and underwent security checks, police and military officials said. Police counter-terrorism unit Densus 88 spokesperson Adjunct Senior Commissioner Mayndra Eka Wardhana said the message was transmitted while the aircraft was flying over Indian airspace. 'The threat was sent via voice communication using a VPN-based radio system that allows ground-to-ground and cross-border communication,' he told local broadcaster MetroTV. A joint inspection involving the military, police, and other agencies found no explosives or suspicious items on board, according to the Armed Forces Information Centre (Puspen TNI). 'By 7.15 pm, the screening process was completed with no threats detected,' said the centre's head, Major General Kristomei Sianturi, in a statement. The flight resumed at 3 am local time on Sunday after the aircraft was declared safe.
