Munich becomes Air Arabia's newest European Destination from Sharjah with direct flights starting from 15 December 2025
Air Arabia announced the launch of its latest route connecting Sharjah with the German city of Munich. Starting 15 December 2025, the new non-stop service will connect Sharjah International Airport and Munich International Airport with daily non-stop flights, offering travelers convenient and affordable travel options between the UAE and one of Europe's leading economic and cultural hubs.

The addition of Munich marks a strategic expansion of Air Arabia's growing European network directly from its hubs in the UAE, which already includes key destinations such as Vienna, Athens, Milan Bergamo, Krakow, Warsaw (Chopin and Modlin), and Prague. This new route not only strengthens the airline's footprint in Europe but also opens up greater opportunities for both leisure and business travelers seeking affordable and convenient connectivity.
Customers can now book their direct flights between Sharjah and Munich by visiting Air Arabia's website, calling the call centre, or through travel agencies.
Air Arabia operates a modern fleet comprised of Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, the world's best-selling single-aisle aircraft. The airline offers a value-added onboard experience with 'SkyTime', its complementary in-flight streaming service, and 'SkyCafe', its onboard menu. Passengers can also benefit from 'Air Rewards', the most generous loyalty program in the region.

EU prioritises negotiated solution with US on tariffs

Macron calls on EU to 'defend European interests' in US tariff talks
12 July 2025 21:12 Paris (AFP)French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday condemned US President Donald Trump's threat to impose 30% tariffs on the European Union, calling on the bloc to "resolutely defend European interests".Trump on Saturday warned that Mexico and the EU would be slapped with 30% tariffs starting on August 1, raising the stakes in already tense negotiations with two of the largest US trading France's "very strong disapproval" of the announcement, Macron called on the bloc to "step up the preparation of credible countermeasures by mobilising all instruments at its disposal" if the two sides failed to reach agreement by August 1."France fully supports the European Commission in the negotiation that will intensify to reach a mutually acceptable agreement by August 1, so that it reflects the respect that trade partners such as the European Union and the United States owe each other," he wrote on social media. Earlier on Saturday, European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen hit out at the new tariffs threatened by Trump, but said the EU still sought a deal to avert the measures.

UAE, Germany launch joint business council to strengthen economic ties
Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Special Envoy to the Federal Republic of Germany, and Katherina Reiche, German Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy, witnessed the official launch of the UAE-Germany Business Council (GUBC) during a high-level ceremony in Berlin. The event brought together more than 150 prominent business leaders and senior officials from both countries and formed part of the official visit of Dr. Al Jaber to Germany. The establishment of the UAE-Germany Business Council reflects the strong and long-standing economic partnership between the two nations, built over five decades of collaboration and mutual understanding. The council aims to open new avenues for trade and investment, and to support sustainable development amid a rapidly evolving global economic and geopolitical landscape. On this occasion, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber stated, 'In line with the vision of our leadership to build high-impact partnerships that advance inclusive progress, we are committed to strengthening the deep-rooted relationship between the UAE and Germany and elevating it to new heights. The launch of the UAE-Germany Business Council will create new opportunities for cooperation across vital sectors of mutual interest, empower the private sector, and support sustainable economic development.' The ceremony also featured the official signing of the UAE-Germany Business Council charter by Musabbeh Al Kaabi on behalf of the UAE, and Günther Oettinger, former Minister-President of Baden-Württemberg and Co-Chair of the Council, representing the German side. Musabbeh Al Kaabi, Executive Director of Low Carbon Solutions and International Growth at Adnoc, and Co-Chair of the Business Council, added, 'The UAE and Germany share a bold and future-focused vision for global progress. During the ceremony, Masdar, a global leader in clean energy, also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with EnBW - Energie Baden-Württemberg, one of Europe's largest energy companies. The MoU aims to explore collaboration on battery energy storage system projects in Germany and the United Kingdom. The two companies will also assess joint opportunities in offshore wind projects in the North Sea and Baltic Sea, as well as in green hydrogen and other renewable energy technologies. Dr Al Jaber also held a series of high-level meetings as part of the visit with senior German government officials and private sector leaders, accompanied by Ahmed Al Attar, UAE Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany. Dr Sultan Al Jaber met with Dr Johann David Wadephul, Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Serap Güler, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office. The meetings discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, with both sides emphasising the importance of the strategic partnership between the UAE and Germany and the need to explore new avenues of collaboration across key priority sectors. Discussions also touched on advancing economic and diplomatic ties and enhancing cooperation in a way that supports sustainable economic development in both countries. He also held a meeting with Katharina Reiche, Minister of Economy and Energy, during which they discussed the latest developments in bilateral relations and strategic initiatives, including the UAE–Germany Energy Partnership launched in 2017.
