Chicago Cubs increasing season ticket prices for 2026 by an average of 6%
The Chicago Cubs' return to contention in 2025 has made home games a hot ticket at Wrigley Field, and to no one's surprise, the team's success on the field means another sizable ticket price increase in 2026. Season tickets for Cubs games will go up from 5-8%, the team announced Thursday in its renewal letter to season ticket holders, with an average increase of 6%. Meanwhile, season ticket holders who renew through 2028 will be guaranteed tickets to the 2027 All-Star Game, Home Run Derby and all other All-Star events at Wrigley, with a maximum ticket increase of 3% in 2027 and 2028. Cale Vennum, senior vice president of Marquee Sports & Entertainment, said the All-Star Game is a 'once in a lifetime event' where demand will likely make it difficult to get in without the guarantee of a season ticket package. 'I would imagine there would be very, very limited tickets available on a single game basis,' he said. 'The demand for this game, we expect it to be through the roof.' Those who don't renew for the entire three years and prefer to go year-to-year might have access to the All-Star Game and events, Vennum said, but there aren't any guarantees. MLB controls most of the tickets for big events and Wrigley is one of the smaller venues. If the 2027 All-Star Game is postponed due to a labor stoppage, the game played on the North Side would likely be delayed until 2029, sources said. 'If for any reason the games need to be rescheduled for a later year, we would honor our commitment to the season ticket holders,' Vennum added. The Cubs already have among the priciest tickets in baseball and demand has surged this season with a team that spent nearly four months in first place until being passed by the Milwaukee Brewers. They began Thursday ranked sixth in average attendance at 37,479 per game. Bleacher tickets for 2026 will likely be around the highest range of the increase — about 8%. Chicago Cubs fans are 'really excited' for Wrigley Field's 2027 All-Star Game. But how much will tickets cost?'The bleachers have been sold out for almost every game this season,' Vennum said. 'It's certainly been the place to be.' A postseason ticket renewal means paying for tickets for all possible home games, with the option of refunds or a credit toward next year for any games not played. The deadline to place a deposit for postseason tickets is Sept. 17. The Cubs are still in good position for a wild-card spot with a 99% chance, according to If the Cubs finish as the top wild-card team, they would host all the first-round wild-card games in a best-of-three series. If they are the second or third wild-card team, they would play their first-round games on the road and have to hope to get to the best-of-five division series.

Rockets Trade Idea Reunites Kevin Durant With $220M Superstar
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Houston Rockets are arguably the most improved team after a stellar offseason. More news: Pistons Would Land $285 Million Superstar in Blockbuster Trade Idea With Celtics The Rockets made the best move of the offseason, acquiring one of the best players in the world, Kevin Durant. Durant will head to Houston after spending the last two-plus seasons in Phoenix. He failed to lead the Suns to a deep playoff run, but the expectations are now sky-high as he joins the young, athletic and dynamic Rockets team. Houston will look to take the next step with Durant on their side and build off their phenomenal regular season last year. The Rockets will enter this season as the elite of the elite, but while that's the case, there is a move out there that could take them to another level. Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report proposed this massive trade idea that sees Durant's former All-Star teammate Devin Booker join him in Houston. "Trade idea: Houston Rockets acquire Devin Booker from the Phoenix Suns for Fred VanVleet, Reed Sheppard, Steven Adams, Jeff Green, 2027 first-round pick, 2029 first-round pick." Devin Booker #1, Bradley Beal #3 and Kevin Durant #35 of the Phoenix Suns walk on the court during the first half of the NBA game against the Los Angeles Lakers at Footprint Center on October 28, 2024 in Phoenix, Arizona. More Photo by"Devin Booker can't be traded until January, and it'd be admittedly weird if the Suns and Rockets transacted again so soon after the Durant deal. But there's just no other logical destination for this pair of future first-rounders. That also helps overcome the reality that Booker has never shown a willingness to leave the Suns. "The Suns need these picks back. Otherwise, the non-playoff seasons ahead won't feature the typical payoff: high lottery position. The key to ensuring Phoenix's fallow period lasts only a couple of seasons is regaining control of those 2027 and 2029 selections. Otherwise, the dark days could stretch well into the 2030s." More news: Russell Westbrook Gets Unfortunate Update Regarding Future in NBA as Free Agency Rolls On Booker landing with the Rockets seems unlikely right now, but that could all change in the coming months. It is clear that the Suns are moving in another direction, and with Booker still wanting to compete for a title, Phoenix may not be the place for him. If the two sides do not see eye to eye, Booker could be put on the trading block. In the meantime, a trade involving Booker is unlikely. The 28-year-old star recently signed a massive two-year, $145 million deal with the team that keeps him on Phoenix through the 2029-30 season. The contract extension solidified Booker as a cornerstone of the team. While that is the case, it is clear that the Rockets are heading in one direction and the Suns are heading in another.
