Ex-Eagles Star Drops Honest Take on Nick Sirianni's Viral Message

When the Philadelphia Eagles throw on the pads for training camp this month, the void of No. 55 will be massive. Brandon Graham won't suit up for the first time in a long time, as he called it a career following his second Super Bowl victory.
Still, Graham is very much in the mix. The veteran defensive end has been making his rounds to discuss Eagles football, adding more fuel to the team's Super Bowl defense.
While discussing the Eagles on 'Gallen of Questions,' Graham made it clear that he feels like the Eagles could seriously make their way back to the Super Bowl stage and do an encore.
"We've got to address things that pop up in the season," Graham explained. "That happened this year, and we addressed it, and we moved on. And we stayed focused on what the goal was, but you got to make sure they have the leaders in that room, which I know they do. Why it can't be them to do it again? That's how I feel."
Since Graham was on the Eagles' first Super Bowl-winning team back in 2017-2018, he learned that repeating as champions certainly doesn't come easy. The fear of having a Super Bowl hangover was real throughout the 2018 NFL season, and the Eagles found themselves squeezing out of the Wild Card round before losing in the Divisional Round.
When Graham recently addressed the state of the Eagles after they picked up their second Lombardi Trophy, he publicly offered advice to the team. Staying uncomfortable and tossing satisfaction aside was the gist of the message. It was something that mirrored Nick Sirianni's viral message at the start of spring sessions, which was something that Graham loved.
"The celebration is over," Nick Sirianni said. "Preparation is here. Last year, we talked a lot about handling adversity. Now it's different. You've got to handle success. That's a different animal. Treat praise like perfume. Sniff it. Don't drink it. It's poison."

This was one of those times, and Graham was a major fan.
"I already love how coach Sirianni is talking about perfume, where it smells great, but don't drink it, it's poison. And winning? We won the Super Bowl, it's great. But to think that you're going to do it again without working like you did, that's a poisonous mindset," Graham explained. "I love where he went with it, and I think they'll do good with that message."
With Graham out of the picture, the Eagles are down a key captain. For those who remain—and those who are stepping up—Graham has total confidence in them.

C.J. Gardner-Johnson: Eagles traded me because they're scared of a competitor

C.J. Gardner-Johnson helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl in February, but he was traded to the Texans in March. And Gardner-Johnson thinks the Eagles got rid of him because they don't like his competitive approach. Gardner Johnson was asked on The Pivot podcast why he thinks he's not an Eagle anymore. 'Scared of a competitor,' Gardner-Johnson answered. 'Simple as that.' Gardner-Johnson felt that he wasn't supported by his coaches when he was ejected from a late-season game against the Commanders, and that he was blamed for a postseason practice scrum. In both cases, Gardner-Johnson said he was just letting the competitive juices flow. 'We had a little scrum at practice,' Gardner-Johnson said. 'Nothing, just offense vs. defense, but who's the culprit of it? Me, I guess, because we're competing. Well, you tell me the period is live. You're telling us not to compete during a live period, but it's a live period and we're getting ready for a playoff game?' Gardner-Johnson indicated that teammates have never has a problem with his competitive approach, but coaches and front office executives have. 'You want me to be a leader and outspoken but then you want me to sit back,' Gardner-Johnson said. 'There's nowhere been a locker room where I had a single issue with a teammate.' Now Gardner-Johnson will bring his competitiveness to Houston.

Xavier Watts Draws High Praise from AUE Founder: "Reminds Me of Ed Reed"

Notre Dame Football YouTube Channel RG spoke to Augustine Ume-Ezeoke, AUE's founder, about his extensive working experience with former Notre Dame star Xavier Watts during an exclusive conversation. Giving a rare insight into the intense preparation that has shaped the young safety's journey to the NFL. Ume-Ezeoke's comparison is both bold and informative. 'Reminds me of Ed Reed,' he said without hesitation. Football players aren't likely to drop that name lightly. Ed Reed is a standout for elite play at the position due to his Hall of Fame status, Super Bowl championship, and arguably being the most instinctive safety the NFL has ever seen. Despite working closely with Watts for months, Ume-Ezeoke sees beyond just physical talent. He sees the intangible qualities that distinguish good from great. 'His IQ. High football intelligence. You saw it in how he trained—in the weight room, during speed work,' Ume-Ezeoke told RG . 'He's a communicator, a leader on the back end. Reminds me of Ed Reed in that sense.' Draft-Day Steal and Mental Fortitude While it came as a mild surprise that Watts was still on board late into the third round, ultimately landing with the Atlanta Falcons at 96th overall. The chip on his shoulder may only increase with his draft-day value. According to Ume-Ezeoke, Watts' capacity to handle and embrace that kind of adversity was not an accident. 'We talked a lot about staying level-headed—handling criticism, setbacks, and the pressure of the draft process,' he explained. 'I'd intentionally put him in uncomfortable training situations: fatigued reps, unexpected changes, even verbal pressure. He embraced it all.' The goal was uncomplicated: develop Watts into an NFL defensive back who can not only survive but thrive under the pressure of quarterbacking the secondary. Training for the NFL's Mental Gauntlet AUE was launched by Ume-Ezeoke, a former standout offensive lineman, to create an environment where athletes are not only trained, but also battle-tested. For Watts, that meant entering what Ume-Ezeoke calls 'the lab'—where excellence is refined through chaos and control. In addition to training that focused on recovering from fatigue and being aware of the field, there was a constant emphasis on adaptability. Ume-Ezeoke mentioned that Watts' development went beyond the field, focusing on traits that NFL teams seek: emotional stability, leadership, and real-time problem-solving. 'That resilience is one of his biggest assets going into the league,' he said. 'You can't fake that. He had to earn it every day.' The Ed Reed Comparison: More Than Just Style Ume-Ezeoke expanded on the Ed Reed comparison by pointing beyond the highlight reel plays and sideline-to-sideline range. Watts' skill in rapidly processing information, communicating pre-snap adjustments, and anticipating the offense's intentions before the ball was even snapped caught his attention the most. 'He sees the game like a veteran, even at 23,' Ume-Ezeoke said. 'That's rare. That's what Ed had. Not just speed or hits, but instincts. Xavier's got that.' Poised for a Breakout in Atlanta Watts is now officially a member of the Atlanta Falcons and will be tasked with developing quickly in a secondary position. In the NFC South, there are several emerging receivers and creative offenses. Watts enters the league prepared for battle thanks to the mental and physical preparation he put in during his time at AUE. He isn't just another newcomer. He's a player who has already faced internal battles and emerged with sharpened instincts, clarity of mind, and an approach designed for long-term success. The Verdict: Built for the League The legacy of Xavier Watts is still in its infancy for Augustine Ume-Ezeoke, but the foundation is unmistakable. Watts has put discipline, intelligence, and toughness into every aspect of his preparation, allowing him to make an immediate impact. 'He's ready. He's the type of guy who'll thrive when the lights are brightest,' Ume-Ezeoke concluded. 'Not just because of his talent, but because he's already been tested.' The Falcons may have walked away with one of the steals of the 2025 NFL Draft. If Watts' trajectory continues, the echoes of Ed Reed's greatness might one day live on in Atlanta. TIME BUSINESS NEWS

Browns predicted to trade Colorado legend Shedeur Sanders to heavyweight AFC Super Bowl contender

The Cleveland Browns still have a long way to go in determining who their starting quarterback will be for the rapidly approaching season. It feels like just yesterday the Eagles dismantled the Chiefs, preventing them from securing a third consecutive Super Bowl title. While there's no definitive path the Browns appear to be taking, speculation continues to swirl. Former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick believes veteran Joe Flacco will get the starting nod to begin the season. Advertisement 'If I was a betting man, Joe Flacco is gonna go into the year as the starter,' Fitzpatrick said. 'He has history there, he has success there, and I think it's a great story. He's a guy that'll bring calm, he's the guy that's going to be able to get them off on the right foot,' Fitzpatrick said. 'As the season goes along, when you draft guys early, and when you have young exciting guys, they're excited for Gabriel, we could see him inserted into the lineup.' Many believe Gabriel will eventually get a shot at the starting role, but Shedeur Sanders likely won't. Former NFL wide receiver Cecil Shorts thinks the competition should be between the rookies. 'Let them battle it out, choose one and ride with them and see what they can do," Shorts said about the rookies. "And I'm not big on switching quarterbacks... I hate that. Let the rookie battle all 17 games; if he's healthy, battle all 17 games. Let him develop. Let him get better.' However, with Sanders not expected to get a serious opportunity to start, Dawg Pound Daily's Mark Sipos suggests a trade to the Buffalo Bills. Advertisement Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp 'Josh Allen is locked in as the starter, and Mitchell Trubisky is back as the veteran backup. But behind them, there's room for a developmental quarterback," Sipos said. "Sanders would be a low-risk, high-upside addition who could sit behind Allen, learn in a structured offense, and grow without pressure. Buffalo's staff could work on refining his timing and decision-making while giving him a stable environment to develop in the background,' Sipos wrote. This move could be highly beneficial for Sanders, putting him in a place he wouldn't need to worry about being cut. It also presents the opportunity to learn from one of the league's best and potentially win a Super Bowl in his first year.
