No. 1 seeded Lady Longhorns pull away from No. 5 Tennessee late, head to Elite Eight
The Lady Longhorns are headed to the Elite Eight. The Texas women's basketball team held off a stubborn Tennessee Volunteers team, 67-59. All-American Madison Booker lead UT in scoring with 17 points.
The top-seeded Longhorns actually trailed the Vols 54-52 with 7:29 left in the game. But a Bryanna Preston layup and two straight baskets by Booker gave the Horns a 58-54 lead that Texas would never relinquish.
It was Texas' stifling defense that led to the victory. The Vols only scored five points in the final seven minutes of the ballgame. Tennessee finished the game only shooting 37.9% from the field and 19.2% from the three-point line. Texas on the other hand shot 46.6% from the floor and an amazing 42.9% from behind the arch.
Jordan Lee added 13 points for Texas, while Taylor Jones and Bryanna Preston each added 12 points.
Texas, who is the No. 1 seed in Birmingham Region 3, will next face former conference rival TCU for a trip to the Final Four at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. The No. 2 seed Horned Frogs took down No. 3 Notre Dame in the Sweet 16 71-62. Both Texas and TCU are 34-3 on the year.

Texas A&M is reportedly the 'frontrunner' for elite 2026 4-star wide receiver

Texas A&M is reportedly the 'frontrunner' for elite 2026 4-star wide receiver Two of Texas A&M's priority prospects in the 2026 recruiting class will take an official visit to College Station this weekend, as five-star wide receiver Ethan "Boobie" Feaster and five-star OL/DL Lamar Brown represents the two most essential prospects for coach Mike Elko and his staff that will make their final decision early next month. In terms of predictions, nothing has been clear regarding both prospects 'favorite landing spots over the past month, as Brown's recent OVs to Miami and Texas have shaken things up, while Feaster's recent OV to USC could complicate things moving forward. Still, it's impossible to ever keep the Aggies out of contention after several 2026 commits shut down their recruitment, combined with landing 2026 four-star safety Chance Collins over Texas Tech. However, according to On3, Texas A&M is now the front-runner to land Feaster and remains in great shape to secure four-star running back KJ Edwards, four-star linebacker DaQuives Beck, and three-star quarterback Kaeden Johnson. The fact that Feaster is still a favorite to land in College Station speaks volumes regarding Elko's ability to recruit elite wide receiver prospects compared to former head coach Jimbo Fisher. Yes, OC Collin Klein and WR coach Holmon Wiggins also deserve credit, but it starts at the top, especially battling the likes of LSU, USC, Texas, and Alabama. From a production standpoint, Featster has delivered impressive statistics that align with his recruiting expectations. He wrapped up his 2024 sophomore season with a personal best of 57 receptions, 855 yards, and 14 touchdowns. Throughout two varsity seasons, Feaster has amassed 1,489 yards and 23 touchdowns. According to On3, Feaster is currently positioned as the 44th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 5th-ranked wide receiver prospect, and the 5th-ranked prospect in Texas. MSU star Jase Richardson reportedly ‘connected' to teams in late lottery of NBA Draft

MSU star Jase Richardson reportedly 'connected' to teams in late lottery of NBA Draft Michigan State basketball star Jase Richardson 'has been connected to teams drafting in the late lottery' of this year's NBA Draft. The latest NBA Mock Draft from Yahoo Sports' Kevin O'Connor sites Richardson as being connected to teams selecting in the late lottery. That includes the Chicago Bulls, who O'Connor has drafting Richardson with the No. 12 overall pick. Here is the exact writeup from O'Connor on Richardson: 'Richardson has been connected to teams drafting in the late lottery, despite measuring 6-feet at the NBA Draft Combine. He is a skilled combo guard with a lethal midrange game and a poised pick-and-roll feel, looking like he downloaded the experience of his NBA veteran father, Jason Richardson. Jase didn't inherit his father's height or dunk-contest athleticism, though, so his smaller stature caps his upside. But does that matter? Look at the way the Pacers and Thunder play, with tons of players who can fly around the floor and make quick decisions. That's Richardson's exact style, so he could seamlessly fit on a team like the Bulls.' O'Connor also listed Richardson as NBA comps with Derrick White and Richard Hamilton. Richardson was an instant impact player for the Spartans, becoming Michigan State's top player by the end of his freshman season. He averaged 12.1 points per game and shot over 40% from three-point range to help lead Michigan State to a Big Ten title and Elite Eight finish in the NCAA Tournament. The NBA Draft is scheduled to take place on June 25 – 26, with the first round taking place on June 25 and the second round on June 26. The draft will be televised on ESPN and ABC.
