3 Chargers targets who stood out on Day 2 of 2025 NFL Scouting Combine Here are a few potential draft targets for the Chargers that stood out on Day 2 of the NFL Scouting Combine.
Friday marked the second day of on-field workouts at the NFL Scouting Combine. A handful of defensive backs and tight ends put on a show at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN.
Here are three players who could be on the Chargers' radar who increased their stock with eye-opening demonstrations of athleticism.
TE Terrance Ferguson, Oregon
The Chargers might not have Michigan's Colston Loveland available to select when they're on the clock. If they have to pivot, there will still be plenty of talented tight ends available beyond Round 1, including Ferguson, who exemplified his athleticism and explosiveness. Ferguson posted the best 40-yard dash time (4.63 seconds) at the position and had a 39-inch vertical jump. He also finished with a 10 foot-2 broad jump.
TE Jalin Conyers, Texas Tech
Conyers is one of my favorite tight end prospects for the Chargers, purely based on his film. But the athletic traits translated to the testing. At 6-foot-3 and 260 pounds, Conyers had top-five finishes in the broad (10-foot-1) and vertical (35.5 inches) jump results. He looked sharp in the on-field drills, moving smoothly and catching everything thrown his way.
CB Robert Longerbeam, Rutgers
The Chargers could use some depth at the slot cornerback position and on special teams. Longerbeam first caught my attention at the East-West Shrine Bowl. He only continued to raise my eyebrows with his testing. Longerbeam ran a 4.39 40-yard dash and paired that with a whopping 11-foot-2 broad jump. He's only 5-foot-10 and 175 pounds, but Longerbeam plays bigger than his size, with a quick trigger and aggressiveness when making plays in front of him.

What is cut line at the 2025 US Open? Live tracker, who could miss projected cut

They weren't kidding about Oakmont Country Club. The venue that has hosted more U.S. Open tournaments than any other showed its teeth again to kick off the 125th edition of this golf major. J.J. Spaun was the early clubhouse leader after firing a 4-under 66, and there's a whole bunch of contenders within a few shots of the lead with Friday's second round underway. The course is part of the story as well. The thick rough and tricky greens proved to be treacherous and humbled some of the world's best golfers. Advertisement The dynamic sets up a fascinating chase to make the cut at the 2025 U.S. Open. Plenty of big names, led by Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas, struggled at various points over the opening 18 holes and have ground to make up in order to qualify for the weekend. The 156-golfer field will be cut down to the top 60 and ties before the third round begins, which is different than the top 70 and ties used as the cut line by the PGA Championship and British Open and top 50 and ties at The Masters. USA TODAY Sports will be tracking the projected cut line with live updates throughout Friday's second round, as well as keeping tabs on the notable golfers who are in danger of missing the cut at the 2025 U.S. Open. A year after playoff loss, Lexi Thompson back in contention at Meijer LPGA Classic

BELMONT, Mich. — Lexi Thompson was back in contention going into the weekend in her beloved Meijer LPGA Classic, a year after a playoff loss at Blythefield County Club. Making her sixth start of the season in a part-time tour schedule, Thompson birdied three of the last four holes in breezy afternoon conditions for a 3-under 69 and a 7-under total. The 2015 winner at Blythefield was a stroke behind leaders Karis Davidson, Carlota Ciganda, Hye-Jin Choi and Celine Boutier. 'The golf course is one thing. It's always in great shape for us, which we always look forward to,' Thompson said after the bogey-free round on the tree-lined layout. 'But the amount of support that the tournament gets and also how Meijer gives back to the community as well. It's not just a tournament. It's much bigger than that.' The 30-year-old from Florida won the last of her 11 LPGA Tour titles in 2019. 'Some days are harder than others and we get frustrated, but at the end of the day it is just golf,' said Thompson, also set to play next week in the major KPMG Women's PGA Championship in Texas. Davidson, playing in the second-to-last group off the first tee, birdied the par-4 16th and par-5 18th for a 70. 'We just really hung in there today,' Davidson said. 'Was a bit of a grind, and nice to get the couple birdies at the end.' Ciganda and Choi each shot 67, and Boutier had a 68, all playing the morning session. 'Coming here the week before a major obviously gives you confidence for playing next week,' Ciganda said. 'The course is one that I like. I enjoy coming here, and it's always fun playing in Grand Rapids.' Thompson was joined at 7 under by Nanna Koerstz Madsen (68), Amanda Doherty (69), Bronte Law (69), Minjee Lee (70) and Sofia Garcia (71). Grace Kim, also part of the playoff last year that Lilia Vu won, was 6 under after a 73. She bogeyed two of her last three holes to fall out of a tie for the lead. Mi Hyang Lee, the first-round leader after a 64, had a 75 to drop to 5 under. With the major days away at PGA Frisco, only three of the top 10 in the world are at Blythefield. Haeran Ryu, at No. 5 the highest-ranked player in the field, followed an opening 69 with a 74 to make the cut on the number at 1 under. Vu missed the cut with rounds of 77 and 75. ___ AP golf:
