Costco rotisserie chicken slammed in surprise new ranking — but one beloved NYC store has a lot to cluck about
It's hard to pass up a grocery store rotisserie chicken when it's inexpensive and can feed multiple mouths, especially in a time when grocery prices are through the roof.
While people have their favorites, one TikToker named Johnny Novo (@jnov__) made it his mission to test and rank the household food staple from all different grocery stores — and shockingly Costco was not at the top of the list.
People rave about Costco's $4.99 chicken — but Novo had other thoughts.

But luckily for New Yorkers, Novo ranked Fairway Market No. 1 on the list of the best tissi — as the content creator calls it — with a 9.1 rating.
'Fairways $9.99 Latin seasoned tissi flooded my comments…this is looking phenomenal,' the self-claimed chicken expert said in his video, trying and rating the New York City supermarket's creation.
He said the seasoning was 'fantastic' and it wasn't dry at all. He raved about the almost too charred looking skin on the outside of the breast.
'This might be the best grocery store rotisserie chicken I've had… it's giving some restaurant's chicken a run,' he said mid-bite.
Healthy grocer, Sprouts and beloved Wegmans rounded out the top 3 on this tissi list — with 8.6 and 8.5 ratings.
It's hard to pass up a grocery store rotisserie chicken when it's inexpensive and can feed multiple mouths, especially in a time when grocery prices are through the roof.

Sprouts supposedly has three different flavors of their chicken, according to Novo but he taste tested their pollo asado option — which he described as having soggy skin but that didn't stop him from chowing down on it and going on about how well it's seasoned.
Wegmans' chicken — which was Novo's first review in his taste testing series — said their $9.99 chicken 'fell off the bone' warranting it an 8.5 rating.
Whole Foods' $8.99 chicken came in ninth place because, although the skin looked crispy, Novo said it also looked dry even before taking a bite — but that assumption was confirmed once he actually ate it. The pricey store's chicken was given a 7.75.
And much to many people's surprise — Costco's $4.99 tissi came in 10th place.
The wholesale giant — whose been consistent with their bird's $4.99 price tag since 2009, according to Novo — received a 7.5 rating.
Novo said the chicken was moist, but it was certainly lacking in the flavor department. 'No one's going to eat this chicken and be blown away,' he concluded.

Although shoppers might want to ditch Costco's chicken after hearing this ranking — something new the wholesale store is doing is allowing customers to 'buy now, pay later' with Affirm for their purchases.
However, the rule is that customers can only use this feature on big purchases — ones that range from $500 to $17,500.
'As summer approaches, we're seeing more consumers turn to Affirm to prepare for the season ahead—whether it's outdoor entertaining essentials, like a new barbecue or patio furniture, a storage shed, or a new set of appliances,' Affirm official Pat Suh declared in an announcement released on Wednesday.

New York lieutenant governor launches primary challenge against Hochul
New York Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado will challenge Gov. Kathy Hochul in the governor's race next year, becoming the first prominent Democrat to launch a primary challenge against his current boss. Delgado's announcement on Monday doesn't come as a major surprise, as he revealed in February that he didn't plan to run for reelection as lieutenant governor next year but would explore 'all options.' Hochul appointed Delgado to serve as her second-in-command in 2022 and the pair was elected to a full term later that year, but their relationship has frayed over time. 'People are hurting, and New York deserves better leadership,' Delgado told The New York Times in an interview. 'There's an absence of bold, decisive, transformational leadership.' Hochul, New York's first female governor, who first took office following former Gov. Andrew Cuomo's (D) resignation, appears potentially somewhat vulnerable in a battle both for her party's nomination and in a general election. Her favorability rating has regularly been underwater and polls show many New Yorkers saying they would prefer another choice as governor in 2026. A Siena College Poll from last month showed 55 percent said they wanted someone else, while only 36 percent said they prefer Hochul. Her favorability rating also dropped slightly after reaching net positive in April for the first time in over a year. Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.) has also been considering a primary challenge to Hochul. But any primary challenge to Hochul will still likely be an uphill battle. The same poll showed Hochul well ahead in a hypothetical three-way Democratic primary matchup with 46 percent to Delgado's 12 percent and Torres's 10 percent. Hochul has also proven herself to be a strong fundraiser. Democratic Governors Association (DGA) Executive Director Meghan Meehan-Draper said in a statement that Hochul is a 'proven leader' who has a strong record of putting money in New Yorkers' pockets, protecting abortion rights and keeping communities safe. 'The Governor knows how to take on big fights and win for New York families — and her agenda is overwhelmingly popular with New Yorkers on both sides of the aisle,' she said. Meehan-Draper said the DGA, which works to elect Democratic governors around the country, is behind Hochul '100 percent' to take on President Trump and build the operation necessary to defeat Republicans in 2026. 'For years, Governor Hochul has been underestimated — and each time proved her critics wrong,' she said. Delgado told the Times that he isn't deterred by the polling, saying he hasn't seen from Hochul 'decisive leadership that is clear-eyed.' His campaign launch video includes a clip of him saying that he grew up in a middle-class family during a time when children expected to have more opportunities than their parents, but that isn't the case now. 'It's love of family. It's love of community. It's love of state. It's love of country. And I'm dedicated to that. That's why I'm running for governor of New York,' Delgado said. He said in the video that the state needs 'bold' leadership and a vision for affordable housing, universal health care and universal pre-K. He also called for standing up to President Trump's 'attack' on the state. 'The powerful and well-connected have their champions. I'm running for governor to be yours,' he said.
