KILLEEN, Texas - Killeen Fire Captain Marvin Taylor III was killed in a crash on Mother's Day.
The backstory
Captain Taylor had just left an Austin hospital after welcoming his fifth child and was on his way to pick up his other children when the crash happened.
Officials say Taylor's vehicle was hit from behind by another vehicle that was reportedly speeding.
An Austin Police Department unit was nearby when the crash happened and was able to render aid until emergency services arrived, but Captain Taylor died at the scene.

The City of Killeen released a statement on social media calling Taylor a "highly respected and decorated of our Fire Department, serving since 2014 and most recently assigned to the Training Division."
"Captain Taylor was known for his dedication, leadership, and countless deployments with Texas A&M Task Force 1 and TIFMAS. He will be remembered not only for his service, but for the impact he made on those around him."
What's next
The driver of the vehicle that hit Taylor's vehicle was taken to jail. No word on what charges the driver will face.

APD: Man dies in northeast Austin crash on Sunday morning
AUSTIN (KXAN) — A 34-year-old man died in a crash early Sunday morning in northeast Austin, according to the Austin Police Department. Police identified the man as Isidro Montero Reyes. The crash happened at about 4:30 a.m. in the area of the northbound State Highway 130 to westbound Highway 290 ramp between exits 437B and 437A. Officers responded to the scene for a single-vehicle crash, APD said. Reyes, who was the driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. APD said their initial assessment of what happened, including the information regarding fatality, could change, and the investigation is still pending. High school students Pandora Kjolsrud and Evan Clark were found dead in a remote area of Arizona on May 27, marking the second and third teenagers found dead in Tonto National Forest since February. Kjolsrud, 18, and Clark, 17, were both found shot to death on May 27 near Mount Ord in the Tonto National Forest, north of Mesa, Arizona. The remains of Emily Pike, 14, were found on Feb. 14 in Tonto National Park, 19 miles north of Globe, Arizona. She went missing from a group home in January, according to Fox 10, which reported her death was treated as a homicide. Her body was found dismembered more than 70 miles away from the group home she was reported missing from. In total, over $3,000 worth of items were stolen from various stores. Officials conducted a "shoplifting blitz" operation in the Lakeline Mall area. This operation was conducted as an ongoing effort to help local retailers to stop shoplifting. The backstory On Tuesday, June 3, around 12:50 p.m., officers responded to a report at Kohl's, at 11111 Lakeline Blvd., regarding two people who were removing security tags and unpaid hiding merch while in the store. When officers arrived, they spoke with store employees, who told them the suspects hid several items in reusable shopping bags and a woman's purse. Officers then found the suspects as they left the store with the stolen items. The suspects got into a black Tesla with the stolen merch and were then taken into custody. About $1,600 worth of merch was stolen from Kohl's. They also found several other stolen items worth around $2,000 that were taken from H-E-B and Home Depot on the same day. There were even stolen items from a Walmart in Buda a few days prior. Officers also found evidence of identity theft and fraud, as well as meth. Ada Johnson was charged with theft with two prior convictions and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Daryl Johnson was charged with theft.
