Collierville restaurant cooperating with authorities after woman's death
Thursday, the Collierville restaurant where Kristen Fundo's husband said she was meeting a friend said they are cooperating with authorities in the investigation.
The Shelby County Sheriff's Office said early Saturday morning, their diving team found Fundo's body in a SUV submerged in the retention pond off Grays Mill Drive, in the back of a neighborhood off Walnut Grove.
Her husband told Your News Leader it was near a family member's home and about seven miles from the restaurant where Fundo had been earlier Friday night.
Family releases more details about mom found dead in sunken car
Fundo had told him she was meeting a friend at Casa Mexicana in Collierville, and her husband said the bill shows she had two margaritas and food during the more than two-hour dinner.
He said he was out of the country, but his wife seemed fine when he talked to her around 7 p.m. He checked in about an hour later and saw her location near the pond.
He showed us the series of text messages he then sent letting her know his brother would be 'driving by that location to see if the truck is there.' An hour after that, he wrote, 'I love you. I hope you're ok. I'm panicking really bad.'
Collierville police stated Saturday evening someone filed a report about 'possibly someone drugging them' on the same night, and at same restaurant, where Fundo and her friend were.
They wouldn't give further details, nor would they say if it could be connected to Fundo's fatal crash. They only stated, 'We will not release reports while they are under investigation' and added it could be another '6 months or so.'
Multiple investigations, but few answers after mom's fatal crash into pond
Thursday, the manager of Casa Mexicana told Your News Leader they were deeply sorry to hear the news. While he wasn't aware of the possible drugging report, he could confirm they are working and cooperating with authorities including the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission. A state spokesperson said they have opened an investigation.
SCSO said its investigation is ongoing too. While they didn't see signs of foul play, an autopsy is being conducted. At this point, 'an official cause of death hasn't been determined.'
They said the vehicle in the pond was 'implicated in an earlier hit and run.' We checked again Thursday, but they've yet to provide any further details.
The crash report shows a rendering of the Fundo's route. Her vehicle veered off the road and into the water. How and why she wound up there still remains unclear.
A family is now searching for answers. The grief unbearable.
Fundo was just 35 years old. She was a mother and wife. She was known for her kindness and endless love.

Family of man killed in I-75 hit-and-run call for accountability
The family of a semi-truck driver killed in a hit and run crash on Interstate 75 is calling for accountability. Terrell Lowdermilk's family learned Monday that the man investigators accuse of being responsible, Christopher Bradshaw, was a Milton Police Department Lieutenant. The City of Milton fired Bradshaw Monday. 'Our family is deeply saddened and grieving the loss of Terrell, whose life was stolen in such a senseless act—one committed by the very institution meant to protect him,' said Cindy Hayes. Hayes is Lowdermilk's mother. The crash that killed him happened Wednesday around 2:30 am. Channel 2 Action News This Morning reported on the crash cleanup as it shut down I-75 for hours. According to Marietta Police Department, Lowdermilk and another semi driver stopped on the side of I-75 Northbound to exchange information after a fender bender. That's when police said a pickup truck hit Lowdermilk. The driver never stopped. That's when the officer reached out to detectives through his attorney and agreed to turn himself into the jail. 'That's very disturbing, you know? They take an oath to protect and serve,' said Lowdermilk's father, Terence Lowdermilk. 'He violated his oath.' Channel 2 obtained Bradshaw's police training records. He started his law enforcement career as a Cherokee County Sheriff's Office deputy in 2008. He took a job as a Milton Police officer in 2011. By 2022, he'd climbed the ranks to lieutenant. 'What kind of example does that make to the public?' said Terence Lowdermilk. 'When you become a police officer, you take an oath to protect and serve your community. Officers are held to a higher standard, whether on or off duty, and the public entrusts them with their lives,' said Hayes. The Milton Police Department sent Channel 2 a statement in response to the arrest. It said Bradshaw was off duty when the crash happened and when leadership learned of his arrest, he was immediately put on administrative leave. Then, the City of Milton terminated him. 'Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time. While we cannot provide further comment due to the ongoing investigation being led by the Marietta Police Department, we remain committed to transparency, accountability, and maintaining the trust of our community,' Milton Police Lt. Andrew Noblett wrote. Lowdermilk's family created a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses. They are calling for more from the investigation. 'We are calling for accountability, transparency, and answers from law enforcement,' said Hayes. 'Justice for Terrell is not only about our family's pain, but also about restoring the trust and integrity that every community deserves.' According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), two children — later identified as Kayden Grant, 15, and his sister Joyclyn Grant, 12 — were seen going into the Wabigoon River in Dryden, Ontario, on July 31, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), CTV News and Northwest Ontario News reported. Emergency workers later found the pair drowned and pulled them from the river. In an interview with CTV News, Heather Dodds, the children's stepmother, said that Kayden and Joyclyn had both been warned to avoid the water as Jocelyn didn't know how to swim and her brother didn't have much experience. 'Unfortunately, kids are very curious and sometimes, they don't always listen,' Dodds told the outlet. Dodds says that they recently moved to Dryden and were out exploring the area near their new home. At some point that day, Kayden and Joyclyn went near the water and Joyclyn fell in. Kayden then jumped in to try to save her. Elva Reid, the children's grandmother, told the CBC that her 10-year-old niece, who was with Kayden and Joyclyn, tried extending a branch for them to grab onto, but the current proved too much. "She did everything she [could]. More than a 10-year-old could ever be expected to do," Reid said. Dryden Mayor Jack Harrison previously said that despite the quick reaction from first responders and bystanders, the children 'tragically could not be revived.' 'This tragedy reminds us all of the preciousness of life and the importance of looking out for one another,' Harrison continued. 'Let us come together in support, reflection, and kindness.' Dodds paid tribute to siblings in a GoFundMe she organized to raise money for funeral costs and to help the family. 'Our Daughter Joyclyn was our only girl, our baby girl,' Dodds wrote in the fundraiser description. 'She was the type of girl that could walk into a room and light it up with her smile." Joclyn was also "OBSESSED" with the lovable alien from Lilo & Stitch. "Her favorite saying was 'Ohana means family, and family never gets left behind,' " Dodds continued. "Our world seems a little darker without her bright light.' Meanwhile, her brother had recently turned 15 and was remembered for his love of science and video games. 'Even though was more of an introvert but when he would create friendships, they were bonds that were unbreakable," she added. "But most of all, he loved his little sister.' Following the tragedy, Kayden and Joyclyn's family is launching a foundation in their memory to provide financial assistance to other families for their children's basic swimming lessons. 'We didn't have enough time to give them [Kayden and Joyclyn] the necessary skills. Had they had those skills, maybe we would be looking at a different situation,' Dodds told CTV News.
