Historic Mukhi Mahal fixes ticketing
In order to catch more attention for the iconic Mukhi House Museum, management has fixed the entry ticket.
The Mukhi House or Mukhi Mahal is a historic mansion dating back to 1921. It was built by a prominent figure of the Mukhi family, serving as their residence for 26 years. After the partition of India, the Mukhi family migrated, and the house experienced changes, including periods of abandonment and later, its use as a government school.
In 2008, the Mukhi family relinquished future claims to the property under the condition that it be preserved and converted into a museum.
Conservation efforts began in 2009, with the museum opening its doors to the public in 2014.
The incharge of the museum stated that it houses a rich collection of artifacts, furniture, and photographs, offering a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the Mukhi family, and the cultural heritage of the region.
The museum is open for visitors from Thursday to Tuesday, 10am to 5pm, with a ticket priced at Rs50 only. Guided tours are also available for those seeking a more in-depth experience.

PBS fare hike
There is growing concern and frustration regarding the recent fare hike by People's Bus Service (PBS) in Karachi. The increased fare has made commute unaffordable for many citizens who rely on this service. In a short span of time, the fare has gradually increased from Rs50 to Rs80, and now Rs120. This steep hike has forced many commuters to search for alternate options, such as mini-buses or private buses, which are increasingly inconvenient. The PBS buses are equipped with automated systems and air-conditioning, which made traveling safe and comfortable. But high fares have made safety and quality inaccessible to the general public. Moreover, conductors are charging Rs120 for rides within the 15-kilometer range which goes against the announced fare structure. This has led to arguments and disruptions, with passengers even being asked to get off the bus. The Sindh Government, particularly the Chief Minister and the Transport Minister, must intervene for a review of the fare structure. It is essential to ensure that public transportation remains affordable and accessible to all. The people of Karachi who mostly belong to middle-class households cannot afford such high fares. With more transportation projects being launched, it is crucial to keep fares affordable to encourage their use. Jamila Manjothi Karachi
