Man recovering from injuries after ‘defensive' grizzly bear attack in B.C.
According to a post on Facebook by the service, the attack took place at approximately 11 a.m. local time in a remote, fly-in location approximately 110 kilometres west of Fort Nelson, B.C., where a group was working in the area.

'The victim noticed a grizzly bear and two cubs nearby just as the sow charged,' the service wrote. 'The victim was bitten and scratched before the bear disengaged.'
Members of the work group helped the man, who was flown to hospital for treatment and has since been released. The entire group was evacuated from the area.
Conservation officers say the attack was determined to be defensive in nature following an investigation into the circumstances, which included interviewing both the victim and a witness.

As a result of the investigation, as well as the remote location, officials say no efforts are being made to capture or dispatch the bear.

Police, family of Edmonton teen killed in hit-and-run seek help to ID driver
For more than a year, Jessa Lynch has been waiting for someone to be held accountable for her 13-year-old son's death. On May 29, 2024, Adam 'AJ' Edhi was riding his bicycle when he was fatally hit by a vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene and the driver has yet to be found. 'We're really stuck in the horrific (situation) of it all and we're not able to move forward,' Lynch said. Mount Royal University justice studies professor Doug King says the callout provides some insight into the investigation. 'It does suggest that the Edmonton Police have come pretty close to exhausting the leads they already have,' King said. King says releases like this one can solicit tips that lead to an arrest. Edhi's family is imploring someone to share what they know. More than a year after the tragedy, they say they can't grieve his loss until they get some answers. RCMP investigate assault of woman in Chestermere on Canada Day
Two teens have been charged after a woman was assaulted at John Peake Memorial Park in Chestermere, Alta., on Canada Day. According to Chestermere RCMP, they received reports at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday that a woman was being swarmed by a group of 10-15 teens aged 13-15 years old. The woman was taken to hospital with what was described as 'moderate' injuries and was released Thursday. View image in full screen The assault took place around 6:45pm Tuesday. Drew Stremick / Global News Investigators identified and arrested two teens aged 13 and 14. One of the teens was charged with a single charge of assault, while the second was charged with assault and uttering threats. Story continues below advertisement The investigation into the assault is ongoing as RCMP continue to go over CCTV footage obtained from cameras located at the park to identify other members of the group involved in the attack. RCMP believe more people may have been assaulted by the teens. They ask anyone with information to contact the Chestermere RCMP at 403-204-8900 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
