Japanese pop idol Kenshin Kamimura molested interpreter, Hong Kong court hears
Kamimura, a former member of Japanese boy band ONE N' ONLY, returned to West Kowloon Court on Wednesday to stand trial for a count of indecent assault arising from an alleged incident at Ming Kee Restaurant in Mong Kok in the early hours of March 2.
The courtroom was packed on Wednesday, with the 316 tickets set aside for public seating all distributed.
Most of the public attendees were from mainland China and arrived with luggage and bulky-looking backpacks. Some of them were told off by security staff for trying to make instant noodles during court adjournments.
The complainant, who testified for the prosecution through a live video link, said she had provided interpretation for Kamimura and 20-year-old Japanese actor Junsei Motojima during a fan meeting at Regala Skycity Hotel the previous day.
The court heard the two celebrities and their assistants had gone to the restaurant to celebrate the event's success.
The interpreter said Kamimura repeatedly made swiping and tapping motions to touch her left thigh after joining her table of nine people.
