The surrendered Naxalites include 11 senior cadres, most of them active in the Peoples' Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) battalion no.1, which is considered the strongest military formation of Maoists, the official said.
They turned themselves in before senior police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officials, citing their disappointment with "hollow" Maoist ideology, atrocities committed by Naxalites on innocent tribals and growing internal differences within the banned outfit, Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan said.
He said there were nine women among surrendered cadres.
The official said Lokesh alias Podiam Bhima (35), Ramesh alias Kalmu Kesa (23), Kawasi Masa (35), Madkam Hunga (23), Nuppo Gangi (28), Punem Deve (30), Paraski Pandey (22), Madvi Joga (20), Nuppo Lachchu (25), Podiam Sukhram (24) and Dudhi Bheema carried a reward of ₹8 lakh each.
"Lokesh was a divisional committee member, and eight others were members of the PLGA battalion no.1 formation of Maoists. The development shows that this battalion is weakening, and its members have been continuously quitting Naxalism due to intensified anti-Naxal operations being carried out by security forces on the Sukma-Bijapur inter-district border," Chavan said.
Four other cadres carried a bounty of ₹5 lakh each, one cadre ₹3 lakh and seven cadres ₹1 lakh each, he said.
The official said some of the surrendered Naxalities were active in the Aamdai, Jagargunda and Kerlapal area committees of Maoists. All the surrendered Naxalites were provided assistance of ₹50,000 each and will be further rehabilitated as per the government's policy, he added.
On Friday, 22 Naxalites, who were active in the Abhujmad area and carried a collective bounty of ₹37.5 lakh, surrendered in Narayanpur district.

Six persons involved in running 'unauthorised' fertility centre arrested

Agency: Last Updated: July 29, 2025, 21:15 IST Representational image (Image: News18) Hyderabad, Jul 29 (PTI) Six persons allegedly involved in running an 'unauthorised" fertility centre at Secunderabad here were arrested, police said on Tuesday. The centre is a branch of an Ahmedabad-headquartered company, they said. The centre was found collecting sperm from donors and sending it to Ahmedabad for analysis. It later shared the sperm with medical facilities in Hyderabad for the purpose of fertility, they said. Further investigation was underway. A police official denied media reports that beggars or daily wage labourers were hired for collecting sperm. Swipe Left For Next Video View all The arrest of the six persons comes close on the heels of an 'illegal" surrogacy and baby-selling racket being busted in the city two days ago with the arrest of eight persons, including the prime accused doctor and owner of a fertility clinic. The racket came to light after a couple discovered through a DNA test that the child, supposedly born through surrogacy, was not theirs, prompting them to approach the police. Jagan accuses Andhra govt of vendetta politics, governance failure

Amaravati, July 29 (PTI) YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday accused the TDP-led government in Andhra Pradesh of engaging in 'vendetta politics", failure in governance and neglecting public welfare. Addressing the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting of YSRCP, the former CM alleged that the state government is fabricating false cases to instill fear among its opponents, instead of focusing on implementing promised welfare schemes. 'Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu failed to implement poll promises and neglected all sections of society and is showing vindictive attitude towards political opponents," said Jagan Mohan Reddy in a release. Referring to the recent arrests of several senior YSRCP leaders, Jagan asserted that this is proof of 'vindictive politics". The YSRCP supremo further alleged that police have become 'collection agents", facilitating mafia-style operations in liquor, sand, rice and gambling, leading to paralysis of public institutions. The former CM also claimed that several key initiatives, including Nadu-Nedu works and Aarogyasri scheme, have been halted. According to Jagan, Naidu spent 52 per cent of YSRCP's five-year borrowings in just 14 months, despite stagnating state revenue and a mere three per cent growth rate. He announced the launch of a YSRCP app for citizens to report harassment, promising accountability and justice and called for strengthening of booth-level structure.
