India's former Under-19 captain and Delhi Capitals batter Yash Dhull continued his golden form in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 season with his second 50-plus score on the trot to guide Central Delhi Kings to another win in the tournament. Dhull, who smashed the first century in the DPL 2025 season in the last match against North Delhi Strikers last week, scored an unbeaten 55 against New Delhi Tigers on Monday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi to a nine-wicket win with 7 overs to spare.
Chasing a modest target of 125, the Kings got off to a whirlwind start thanks to openers Yash Dhull and Siddharth Joon, who stitched together a 57-run stand in just 4.4 overs. Joon was particularly aggressive, thrilling the crowd with his clean hitting as he smashed 45 off 24 deliveries, laced with two boundaries and five sixes, before being dismissed.
After Joon's departure, Yash Dhull continued to anchor the innings alongside Yugal Saini, guiding the Kings safely to the target. Dhull brought up a composed half-century, finishing unbeaten and showcasing his growing stature as a reliable top-order batter in this season. Earlier in the day, it was the Central Delhi Kings' bowling unit that set the tone for the match. Their disciplined effort restricted the New Delhi Tigers to 124/9 in 20 overs. Gavinsh Khurana led the charge with a sharp spell of 3/20, while Money Grewal and Simarjeet Singh chipped in with two wickets apiece to stifle the Tigers' batting momentum.
The victory further cements Central Delhi Kings' reputation as a formidable force in DPL 2025, with both their batting and bowling departments firing in unison. Yash Dhull has bounced back from his heart surgery
The 22-year-old Delhi batter has an impressive record in T20 cricket. He has scored 826 runs in 28 T20 matches at an average of 41.3 with five fifties to his name.
Dhull missed most of the inaugural DPL season in 2024 due to a heart surgery. But on Sunday, he became the first centurion in DPL 2025 with a brilliant knock of 101 off 56 balls against a Strikers side led by Team India and KKR pacer Harshit Rana. He smashed 8 fours and seven sixes in his maiden DPL century.
On Monday, Dhull clobbered 2 sixes and 7 fours in his 34-ball 55 as Central Delhi Kings overhauled the target in just 13 overs.

North Delhi Strikers deliver all-round performance to beat Purani Dilli 6

North Delhi Strikers produced a superb show with bat and ball to beat Purani Dilli 6 by 27 runs in the 16th match of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) Season 2 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, according to a release from DPL. North Delhi Strikers produced a superb show with bat and ball to beat Purani Dilli 6 by 27 runs. Chasing 180, Purani Dilli 6 stumbled early, losing three wickets for 13 runs in the initial overs. However, a resilient partnership between Vansh Bedi and Pranav Pant revived their innings. Bedi's explosive 33 off 17 balls, featuring three sixes, coupled with Pant's steady 40, brought hope of a comeback. Despite the fightback, Purani Dilli 6 faltered in the death overs, ultimately getting bowled out for 152 in 20 overs, falling well short of the target. North Delhi Strikers' bowlers, led by Deepanshu Gulia's three wickets and supported by Harshit Rana and others, maintained pressure throughout the innings. Earlier, after being asked to bat first, North Delhi Strikers got off to a flying start, thanks to an aggressive opening partnership between Sarthak Ranjan and Arnav Bugga. The duo raced to 58 without loss inside the powerplay, with Ranjan taking the lead in scoring, smashing 38 runs off 21 deliveries, while Bugga provided solid support with 18 from 15 balls. The partnership continued to dominate until the breakthrough came in the 10th over as Lalit Yadav dismissed Ranjan (51). In the next over, Arnav Bugga, who had built momentum with a fluent 39 from 26 deliveries, was dismissed by Udhav Mohan. Soon after, Lalit Yadav added to the pressure by claiming another important scalp of Yajas Sharma. The Strikers lost a couple more wickets in quick succession in the middle overs courtesy of disciplined bowling from Udhav Mohan, Lalit Yadav, and Rajneesh Dadar, who all ensured the innings didn't completely run away from the fielding side as they restricted the Strikers to 179/8. Brief Scores: North Delhi Strikers - 179/8 (20); Sarthak Ranjan: 51 (33), Arnav Bugga: 39 (26), Rajneesh Dadar: 3/39. Purani Dilli 6 - 152/10 (20); Pranav Pant: 40 (31), Vansh Bedi: 33 (17), Deepanshu Gulia: 3/17.

'I Try To Follow That': Harshit Rana Reveals One Identical Captaincy Trait Of Rohit Sharma-Shreyas Iyer

North Delhi Strikers' Harshit Rana admires Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer's captaincy, aiming to emulate them in the Delhi Premier League. North Delhi Strikers skipper Harshit Rana has said that he has admired how Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer have given their players a free hand as captains, and that is one thing he would like to emulate and implement during his captaincy stint in the ongoing Delhi Premier League. Under Harshit 's captaincy, North Delhi have registered two wins in three games, a good start to the youngster's leadership tenure. Having lost their first match to the Central Delhi Kings, North Delhi made a gracious comeback to register two wins in two games. 'I find Rohit and Shreyas bhai very similar, in the sense that they give a free hand to the players. I like that a lot and try to follow that. But I can't (laughs)," Harshit said in reply to a query from News18 CricketNext at the post-match press conference on Sunday, August 10. Harshit made his Test and ODI debut under Rohit in December 2024 and February 2025, respectively, while playing his sole T20I under Suryakumar Yadav. He has also played in the Ranji Trophy under Yash Dhull, Vijay Hazare Trophy under Shikhar Dhawan, as well as under Iyer for the Kolkata Knight Riders in their triumphant 2024 season. In the chase, Purani Dilli were reduced to 13/3 in the third over before skipper Vansh Bedi and Pranav Pant added 58 runs for the fourth wicket. After the former was dismissed by Arjun Rapria in the ninth over, Purani Dilli again collapsed to find themselves at 116/8 in the 16th over. Lalit Yadav and Rajneesh Dadar then added 34 runs for the ninth wicket but after the former was dismissed by Harshit in the final over, Purani Dilli folded for 152, handing North Delhi a 27-run win. Deepanshu Gulia picked three wickets. Asked if the decision at the toss cost them the match, Vansh told News18 CricketNext, 'It was the perfect decision for us. There was a lot of difference on the pitch. The wicket was playing well. It was perfect to bat. We were getting a bit of help in the initial overs. The ball was moving. I guess it was the right decision." view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
